Chapter 35: Chapter 34: Price of Freedom. (2)

Laying on my soft bed, I am looking at the tablet screen for the development of the war.  After a few days there was a lot of news about the war. The attack from stur freedom fighter on human settlement, and an unknown human military aircraft attack on stur cities. Have caused the relationship between human and stur become tense again.

 

If both sides don’t negotiate for peace there is going to be a large-scale war soon. The human military have been mobilized to the area that have been attacked by stur freedom fighters. 

 

My research is almost complete; the only problem is not enough human test subjects. Most of the new criminals die from the experiment because of Devin and Elena. After giving them my experiment research both of them like being possessed and turn into mad scientists. They change the formula to get a stronger mutant soldier but that causes the test subject body to degenerate faster. Thanks to them, it helps me to improve my own experiment.

 

Getting out of my bed, I am going to get ready to go to the restricted floor. Pharherb building right now there are not a lot of people because of the war. For foods and other essential items everything is already being stored inside the building. The only problem is the safety.

 

Where to find more criminals, it looks like I need to find volunteers. With the war going on, I am sure there are a lot of desperate people. Going to the restricted floor, there is only Elena.

 

“Where is Devin?”

 

“Boss, Devin is looking after his daughter.”

 

I nodded, Devin has transferred his daughter to live here. Because there is not enough staff there are no people who can help him take care of his daughter.

 

“What is his daughter's name?”

 

“Boss, are you interested in a little girl?” Elena makes a shocked face.

 

“Stop joking around.” After working with Elena, I noticed she likes to tease people when bored.

 

“Hahaha, sorry her name is Alice seven years old.”

 

“How is the experiment?”

 

Elena hearing that makes an awkward smile. “Boss, we have a little problem.”

 

“What is it?”

 

“We are having problems retraining the test subject to do a full body check-up.”

 

“Does the sleeping gas or tranquilizer dart not work?” 

 

“Yes.”

 

“Let me see.”

 

“Yes, boss.” Walking through the corridor, Elena stops at one of the see-through mirrors. Inside there are insectoid creatures. The face looks like a mantis and the forearm has a long blade like a mantis arm.

 

“Show me the experiment data.” After I finished reading the data, I was shocked by the result. The human experiment can even withstand bullets and fire. But this test subject will only live for a few more days or weeks before all of his organs degenerate. 

 

“Have you tried using a laser rifle?”

 

“No, we don’t want to kill it by accident.”

 

“Do it.”

 

“I understand.” Elena rushed to the control room to activate the weapon.

 

Although the laser rifle is hard to find. With Vance and Liam's help they manage to procure it in the black market.

 

On the room ceiling, a compartment opens, and a rifle-like weapon emerges and begins shooting at the human insect.

 

The human insect still has his memory and remembers that he has been shot by bullets before but he is not injured. He decided to stay motionless, but his instinct is telling him to evade.

 

The laser hit the place where the human insect was just standing, and the floor melted because of the attack. The human insectoid head is perspiration, fortunately he evades in time. If not there is going to be a hole in his body. The human insect jumps at the laser rifle to destroy it.

 

Elena saw that try to retract the laser rifle but it was too late. The human insectoid blade manages to cut the laser rifle into two.

 

I analyze the human insectoid strength. The test subject is getting weaker or he is tired after using an insectoid transformation. Normally the mutant soldier will transform back to his human form to conserve energy. Maybe there is something wrong that prevents him from changing back to human form.  

 

Elena returned to my side and spoke. “I am sorry; I can’t save the weapon.”

 

“It's fine, how long has he been transformed?”

 

“We left him in this room five days ago to monitor the result.”

 

“How long can he live?”

 

“We don’t know because we can’t do a full body check-up.”    

 

“I will enter the room, you can leave.”

 

“Boss, you cannot enter the room, it’s dangerous.” Elena quickly blocks the path; if her boss dies, she will lose her good salary. Mr. Levi stated that he can pay off her debt if she performs well.

 

Seeing her persistent, I give up and will come again. “Change the sleeping gas potency or formula we need to examine him.”

Humans that try to flee to the city have been ambushed by the stur freedom fighter. The military try to protect them but they are outnumbered and scattered. This is the stur native planet and there are a lot of sympathizers for the stur freedom fighter.

 

The human has denied any involvement with the stur cities attack, but majority of the stur don’t believe them. Because of that many stur join the stur freedom fighter in secret.  

 

On the road heading to the city, many humans are walking by foot. Because their car has run out of fuel or being destroyed by the stur terrorist blocking the road. Near them there is a military guarding them.

 

“Mom, how long are we going to arrive?”

 

“Soon be patient.”

 

“Kaboom!” Suddenly they hear an explosion from behind.

 

“Run!”

 

Many tanks are coming from behind. The human multi-leg tanks come and intercept them.

 

Because of the tank's agile movement and maneuver, none of the stur tanks' shells hit the human multi-leg tanks. When the humans first encountered the stur tank, they learned their lesson. They thought the tank shells can’t pierce the multi leg tanks armor but they are wrong. The stur shells manage to destroy the human multi leg tanks.

 

From the sky the military aircraft begin attacking the stur tanks.

 

“Kaboom!”

 

“Boom!” 

 

After many stur tanks being destroyed by the human multi leg tanks and aircrafts. The stur freedom fighter retreated.  

 

“Captain, what is your order?”  

 

“Carry the people that can be saved and leave the dead.”

 

“Yes, captain.”

 

While the captain is giving orders he receives a message from the military HQ. His face frowns but soon returns to normal.

The stur have been separated from human civilians by the military. They attempted to protest, but it was futile because the city was under martial law. Thousands of stur have gathered outside of the capital city.

 

They are being surrounded by a human military. The weird thing is even the cameraman and news reporter are in the area.

 

“Begin the broadcast.” 

 

All over Otune on the screen the human has broadcast a scene where the stur have been gathered together. All the people don’t know what is going on, except the military and president Royce.

 

The screen displays President Royce's face. “I am President Royce, and in the last few days, many people have died at the hands of stur terrorists. Following that, the screen displayed a stur civilian from Human Capital City. I have given the leader of the stur freedom fighters 24 hours to surrender, or else all of the stur here in capital city will die.”

 

The news is like a bombshell: every intelligent species is shocked by this news. The stur that have family in human city begin to find the stur union leaders for help. The stur leaders after discussion begin to discuss with president Royce but without any result.

Stur freedom fighter hideout. “Leader, what should we do?”

 

Lance spoke in a calm manner. “Ignore the threat and continue with the war.”

 

“Do you don’t have any feelings?”

 

“Even if we surrender, things will never change.”

 

“We should save them.”

 

One of the stur spoke. “It must be a trap.”

 

After a while Lance order. “Return to your post.”

 

When they heard that, they all fell silent and exited the room. Lance slump to his chair and closes his eyes. Mr. Donald has contacted him and informed him that something significant is about to occur.

The President has gone mad from the pressure. Looking at the monitor screen the president Royce has given 24 hours for the stur freedom fighter to surrender. But president Royce must have known that they will not surrender why he is doing this. From my experience he is someone that likes to use brain more than brute strength.

 

Is the human federation aware of what happened in Otune? “Why should I care?” After the experiment is done I will leave this planet. I get up and walk to my experiment room. There are many more tests that must be performed.
