Chapter 38: Chapter 37: Price of Freedom. (5)

Every time there has been a war in human history. The one that will suffer the most are the innocent civilians. Because of human greed and selfishness in order to gain power or survive, they don't care about the people below them.

 

Humans already have the technology to produce an abundance of food. But like always human greed has taken over. And it's hard to survive in a federation without money and power.

 

“Brother I am hungry.” A boy said.

 

“Please wait, I will find you food.”

 

A young man is carrying his sleeping little sister walking on the street while holding the hand of the little boy. Their parents die when fleeing to the capital city. He is not the only one that has lost a family member.

 

Suddenly a woman with black hair appeared in front of him.

 

“What do you want?” The young man is worried and draws his siblings closer. Because he has heard of people abducting children and women.

 

The woman doesn’t want to waste time, bring them to a quiet area and explain. That her boss is recruiting people. At first the man refused but seeing his hungry sibling he agreed. But he needs to bring his sibling along.

 

The woman after that, took her phone to call someone named Liam to pick us up. 

 

Gianna doesn't care what happens to this young man after the experiment; whether he survives or not is up to Mr. Sylas.

Few days later Pharherb restricted the floor. I already see people that Gianna brings. The one that survives will become my secret mutant soldier, the one that failed will die. I have stopped testing new modified experiments because there are not enough test subjects.

 

The issue right now is that Gianna wants her reward. As a result, I request that she bring more people to delay it. Her body is already changing, and I'm not sure if my body can handle it. She might kill me during the intercourse.

 

How about I send someone else to do it but they might die. “Sigh I dig my own grave.” Actually there is another way by killing her. Shaking my head, I leave my room to the experiment room. Inside there are already several people inside the glass tube.

 

While checking for any changes, Sara and Gianna enter the room. Both of them have become friends because of that Sara has known something she should not have.

 

“Do you bring any new people?”

 

“No, the government has sent a relief because they are afraid of riots.”

 

The human and stur will have a full scale war soon according to Vance. Fortunately, we already prepared “Sara, tell Liam to ready the spaceship in case the war gets out of control.

 

“Yes, sir.”

 

“Gianna, are you going to follow us?” 

 

“Yes, I still wanted my reward.” Gianna licks her lips while looking at my private part.

 

I ignore her and continue to observe the test subject.

Presidential building. President Royce has not been feeling well since the stur massacre. The problem keeps growing bigger. Even the stur union leaders have been killed because of their military coup. 

 

Inside the room there are many politicians discussing how to solve this problem. 

 

President Royce spoke. “Do you have any idea how to solve this problem? If not, will I send an emergency message to the federation?”

 

The middle aged woman spoke. “Although we can win with our military, the cost and damage after the war will be enormous.”

 

“Why are you afraid? In human history just a hundred soldiers can subdue a country with millions of population.”

 

“Yes, if the one that you are fighting uses a sword and arrow. Right now we don’t know who is supplying the stur freedom fighter with modern weapons. With the stur recent coup we have another problem that we need to solve.”

 

After much deliberation, President Royce finally spoke. “Contact the new stur leader and negotiate a peaceful solution. Tell the stur civilian that anyone who colluded with the stur freedom fighter will be executed. The last one sent a message to the Federation, requesting to send their fleet here as a deterrent.”

 

President Royce looked at the elderly man sitting near him.

My body feels pain after that something enters my body and the pain slowly fades. “Where is this place?” Few hours later, the young man with brown hair wakes up and realizes he is inside a room. There is nothing here except for the toilet. “Is this a prison?”

 

Inside the room, there is a voice. [“You've already woken up.”]

 

The young man recognized that voice, stood up and respectfully spoke. “Yes, Mr. Sylas.”

[“Try do light exercise to get used to your own body.”]

 

“Yes, sir.”

 

After half an hour. [“How do you feel?”]

 

“My body feels light and has a lot of energy.”

 

[“Good now try to concentrate to transform. I already explain to you before you enter the glass tube.”]

 

“Yes, sir.” Mr. Sylas has said that my DNA has been fused and modified by several beast DNA.

 

After a few hours nothing changes and Arian opens his eyes. “Mr. Sylas nothing happens.”

 

[“Its fine, take some rest. Don’t worry about your sibling we already taking care of them.”] Because of the influx of people entering the city, it is not difficult to find people to replace those who used to work at Pharherb but have migrated or resigned.

 

“Thank you.”

In my private room there are several monitors showing my experiment test subject. Everything is normal, and I'm wondering what went wrong. Why can't he transform? It appears that I will need to reveal my other identity, Sylas, to Elena and Devin for help. At the same time, I need them to keep my true identity as Levi hidden.

 

 

Another test subject that used the same formula like Arian is a middle aged man with blonde hair. His name is Logan, his wife and son stay in this building.

 

Then, through the intercom, I tell Logan to do the same thing I tell Arian. The test was over in a few hours. What happened to cause them to be unable to transform? There was no problem before this; I just added a few more variables to the new formula. Simultaneously, to make them stable in comparison to other test subjects who have lost control.

 

Looking at the screen there are several test subjects, all of them going on rampage after waking up and transforming. Although the rooms have been fortified, few of them manage to damage the wall and mirror. It looks like they have been controlled by their beast instinct.

 

A man transforms into a humanoid Komodo dragon striking the mirror with his fist and tail. In another room a test subject transforms into a humanoid Mantis Shrimp, every time the test subject attacks the wall there will be a crack.

 

While I am thinking of a solution, one of the room alarms has been activated. On one of the screens a humanoid Mantis Shrimp has damaged the see-through mirror. If you don't do anything the mirror will be destroyed and the test subject might escape.  

 

After activating the defense mechanism in the test subject room. I leave my room, several minutes later I open the door and enter the test subject fortified room. A lot of weapons have been destroyed and the new sleeping gas is not working again.  

 

Standing in the middle of the room is a humanoid Mantis Shrimp.

 

“Stop.” I walk toward the test subject.

 

The humanoid Mantis Shrimp looks at the man that is responsible that changes him into a monster. “What. Have. You. Done. To. Me?” 

 

“Calm down, you can return to your normal body.” It looks like the test subject still remembers they are human.

 

“I. don’t. know. Something. Else. Is. Inside. Of. Me.”

 

I stop walking and observe the test subject. The beast instinct is trying to take control of him. Before I can say anything more. The humanoid Mantis Shrimp suddenly disappeared and appeared beside me. When the test subject punched me it caused a shock wave.

     

“Bang!” Like being shot by a cannon, my body flies like a ball toward the wall. My shield activates in time, but after hitting the wall it shattered from the impact. Using my vital energy, I restore the transparent shield.

 

Fortunately, my body is strong. Although the test subject looks like a humanoid Mantis Shrimp, his DNA has been fused with other beasts to make it stronger.

 

“Since you want to play rough.” My body disappeared and appeared in front of the humanoid Mantis Shrimp. “Crack!” the test subject hard shell crack from the punch.  

 

While the test subject flies into the wall. I reappeared and punched him once more, as if the test subject had turned into a volleyball being punched around the room.

 

After multiple punches the humanoid Mantis Shrimp changes into human form again. “Stop, don't hit again.” The man said weakly.

 

“Obey me or die.”

 

“I will obey you.” After saying that he fainted.

 

I leave the room after casting the rejuvenation spell on the test subject. Now it’s time to take care of other test subjects.
