Chapter 5: What was that??

Abandoned road to old Mills cabin…

August 22. 1996. 2:45 am…

Special Operations Division Alpha Team 

"Sam to the left I see the cruiser " Barry informed over the radio as they moved down towards the vehicle from where the chopper had set them down 30 yards back on the road. 

"Looks like it got flipped by an elephant!" Anna said as she kept her mp5 aimed chest level on full auto fire, while watching for any signs of movement. "With the level of damage I'm seeing I wouldn't be too surprised if it had been.

 Anna fan right see if you can find any signs of them, Barry you go with her. Dan you're with me.". "Understood boss man, Anna let's hoof it." Barry said as he started off to the left side of the overturned wreck. As Sam and Daniel work their way to the right side of the car Dan peaks into the front window with a hole in it. "Looks like one of 'em got tossed out the front windshield. Don't see the other guy in the vehicle either." As He says this Samuel is looking at what appears to be scratches along the undercarriage and side of the cruiser, "Well Dan I think whatever made these scratches here flipped the vehicle down here, and whatever it was is mas…" as Sam looks at the ground he notices what looks like a footprint left by a bear only this bear would have to be the size of a semi-truck and capable of walking on its hind legs for 40 to 50 yards. "What is it Sam?" Daniel asks as he notices Sam's expression of confusion and disconcert. Sam gestures to the impression into the hard ground. Dan seeing the print now walks closer to study it, "What the hell could have made this? I've never seen a bear big enough in this or any part of this world." Sam nods his head, "I haven't either and that's what has me worried. Damn thing would have to be at least 11 foot tall on all fours and weigh more than 5 tons. That's far too big for any known bear in this area or any area in the world!"

 "RAAAAAOOOOOOWWWWRRRRR!!!" 

A massive roar followed by Nate over the radio startles them both out of their thoughts as they bring their MP5 and M16 up to chest level then move it up to about head level just in case. 

"Sam I've got something moving through the trees towards me and it's huge. It sounds like the damn forest is exploding… wait I think I see….  It's huge WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT!!!" The radio goes quiet and then the area where they left the chopper is lit up with a massive explosion and flames. "NAAAATTTEEE! Barry, Anna move back to the chopper now fingers on triggers aim high! Dan, let's go!!". Sam immediately shouts as he and Dan start sprinting towards the explosion. "What the fuck attacks a chopper Sam." Dan says through the radio sprinting to catch up with him. "Fuck if I know but whatever it is sounded massive let's move and keep your damn head on a swivel!"

…10 minutes earlier Barry and Anna…

Barry stops again looking down at the bloody prints they've been following away from the cruiser. "What the hell happened to you guys?" Barry asks under his breath. "Barry the tracks look like they head towards the cottage. It looks like they both made it out but it looks like they were running!" Anna says from 10ft further down the trail. "Running towards the cottage and, judging from these prints I found here something or someone was chasing them." He says, looking back down the hill to where the cruiser is about 40 yards away.

As he's looking down the path he notices a strip of white fabric hanging over head, “hey Anna I've got something in the trees over here! I'm going to need you to climb a tree.” he says with a smirk knowing she will not be happy to climb the tree he's looking at, chuckling he hears Anna walking up behind him, “Damn it Barry of all the damn trees out here you could have found something in it just had to be a damn pine.” chuckling in his deep voice Barry says as he pulls a cigar out of his vest pocket, “Ain't my fault that the evidence ended up in a pine tree. You can complain to whoever or whatever got it up there.” grumbling to herself Anna slings her shotgun over her shoulder and starts climbing getting scratches on her arms from the pine needles, "I fucking hate pines." Can be heard from the tree as Anna makes her way up till she spies the branch that has what looks like a torn sleeve from a lab coat with red stains at the seam, seeing how far away from her the sleeve is and how thin the branch is she pulls out her 11 inch kukri machete and lots the branch in two, dropping the sleeve and the section of branch it was in to the ground below next to Barry's massive bulk,  "there you go Barry. Now I'm getting out of this damn tree." "Thanks Anna, dropped it within arms reach for me, maybe I should have you climb trees more often." Barry calls back up to her as he pics the sleeve up. "You just enjoyed staring at my ass as I'm climbing up and down this thing.", he just chuckles at her looking over the lab coat piece he sees that it's more than just the sleeve it appears to be a good portion of the right side of the coat, and by the amount of blood that's covering it he'd say the person who wore it isn't breathing anymore, but why is there a lab coat in the middle of the forest and what did this and how did this coat end up in a tree. As he's looking it over an ID card drops out of the inside pocket, picking up the ID card and looking it over it reads,

"Looks like we got ourselves a NOIR scientist out here somewhere and she appears to be heavily injured I'd say from the amount of blood on this coat." He says to Anna who's finally made it back down from the tree. "And how do you know that huh Barry did you smell her perfume or something?" "Ha ha Anna it's called an ID badge and with full access to whatever facility she was in." He says as he tosses the ID badge to her. Anna catching the badge checks it over and then deposits it into her vest chest pocket. "Well maybe our boys found her and she fled with them to the cottage?", "maybe we'll just have to…."  "RAAAAAAWWWWWWOOOOORRRRR"

"What the hell was that?" Says Anna as she brings up her 12 gauge racks it and aims towards the noise they heard, at the same time Barry brings his mark 14 up and takes aim looking through his scope but all he sees is a sudden ball of fire from the location of the chopper. " let's go Anna, that's from the chopper's location. Keep that shotgun shouldered, we may need to drop something big." "Got it Barry. Now let's go!" She says as she takes up a position ahead of him shotgun at the ready.
