Chapter 35: CHAPTER 35: Zion’s Awakening

Harvey reached his apartment at already noon. His sweat flowed rapidly after driving his motorcycle under the heat of the sun. He removed his jacket to allow air on his body then he went inside. The male tenant saw him on the porch and then asked, "Young man, is that wedding already done?"

"Nothing happened. The brides were dead.", Harvey said severely.

The tenant was shocked and then continued to ask, "Why? Jessica said it is all okay."

"Is she already here?", Harvey wanted to confirm Jessica's arrival. The tenant lowered his eyes and then scratched his head. He seemed to hide something deep inside so Harvey put a question, "Why? Is there something wrong with my words?"

"No. I saw that young woman here just earlier. She seemed in despair as she slowly climbed up." The tenant sweated a lot while saying his words. Harvey was confounded while observing the tenant. He thought that he just asking Jessica and now the person before him was very nervous. So, Harvey just said dismissively, "Alright. I think you seem apprehensive. I will go now."

"That young lady had no shadow.", the tenant described while wiping his sweat.

Harvey who was going to walk away suddenly paused and then stepped back. "How did you notice her?"

"It's just a coincidence. I met her here where there is some sunshine then suddenly, my eyeglasses fell into the floor so I grabbed them. Now, I saw my shadow but Jessica had nothing. ", the tenant told his story.

"Are you sure about that? Isn't taradiddle?", Harvey wanted to clarify since as far as he knew, this tenant was also hooking up with that old landlady.

The tenant was surprised and then he avouched, "I really saw her just earlier. She's a ghost. If you don't believe me, then don't. But as me who have sight on it, I will believe. I am not fabricating that story."

Harvey became disinterested anymore so he just dismissed, "I will give some thoughts about it." Then, he rushed upstairs deserting that tenant who was now in a nervous breakdown.

In the hallway, nobody was passing together with Harvey. He checked every room and each room was commonplace. Nothing changed. Harvey was already before his door when he spotted something. That thing slipped on the edge between the door and the wall. So, Harvey immediately grabbed it and read that sticky note.

"Harvey, This is Jake. I am waiting for you at our favorite restaurant. Someone wants to see you."

That note was just a paper but what was written was hair-raising. Harvey crunched that note and then threw it in the hallway. Jake already passed away, then why he had come back? Who wanted to see him? Harvey opened his door and then went inside. After shutting the door, Mickey was now there sitting on the sofa. Harvey jumped his scare when he noticed Mickey. Mickey was smiling through the ears and then greeted, "Hello. I am already here."

"You, oafish keeper. I will kill you if I die after being shocked by fear.", Harvey massaged his chest after being scared by Mickey's sudden appearance.

"You, chicken. What takes you so long?", Mickey inquired while sipping on his coffee.

"What is your feeling about Jessica?", Harvey asked then he speedily seated beside Mickey.

Mickey grimaced and then he replied, "I fell in love when looking at her. Similarly, you when you are looking at Zion." He always mixed with some statements which irritated Harvey. Harvey scowled then interjected, "Can you stop meddling about my life? Now, speak. What are your guts about Jessica? Do you feel her strangely?" Mickey paused for a second then reflected, "You mean,

strange things?"

"Yes. One of the tenants notices her. He said that Jessica is a ghost.", Harvey pointed out.

"How so? I didn't feel anything odd about her.", Mickey widened his head and then scratched his arms.

"According to him, Jessica had no shadow."

"I think, she's alive? People really are deceiving.", Mickey pouted his lips and then stared dismally at Harvey. Harvey frowned and then uttered, "You have no say anymore? Do you believe that man?"

"Yeah. If they see it, they can tell about it. So, his telling the truth.", Mickey replied truthfully.

"If he just wants attention, we can't believe him that instant.", Harvey hypothesized.

"Targeting attention is no longer working. What people love to fabricate a story like that unless they really have sight on it."

Harvey reflected and felt Mickey's words were true. So, he just disregarded it and pinpointed the note, "Mickey, I received a note when I came in. It slipped at the door. That note is from my deceased cousin.", he said then gave the note to Mickey.

"Really? He is dead? What's the matter of his coming back? Do you know it?", Mickey was deliberately looking at the note.

Harvey said, "Yes. He passed away a year now. I don't know why he is back.",

While they were discussing the note, suddenly, there was a knock on the door. So, Mickey stood up and then opened it. Harvey was waiting on the sofa when he noticed Mickey was slowly stepping backward. Harvey stood up to check it when he saw Jessica. Jessica is smiling sweetly while observing the room. She seemed not normal as she just directly entered the living room. Then, she went to the bedroom without informing Harvey. Mickey and Harvey saw her and were in contemplation. They looked at each other as they hinted something was wrong with her.

"Jessica, what brings you here?", Mickey asked casually.

Jessica stared at him cautiously and then replied, "Nothing. I just want to look around."

"Without notice? Looking at my bedroom is just looking around at you?", Harvey asked severely.

"Nothing. I just want to look around.", Jessica repeated her words.

Mickey quirked when he noticed that redundancy. So, he wanted to experiment, "Jessica, is the wedding canceled?"

Jessica stiffened and slowly pivoted her neck, "Nothing. I just want to look around." Harvey sensed very unusually so he grabbed Mickey to move far. Jessica's neck pivoted 360 degrees and it was a ghastly sight. Harvey witnessed it so he breathed to calm himself. While, Mickey was looking at Jessica, with a glum expression.

"Who are you?", Mickey put the question while slowly touching his anklet.

"Zion.Zion.Zion", the name repeated at Jessica's mouth. Harvey was taken aback and then interjected, "You are Zion?"

Mickey misunderstood so he mocked Harvey, "Is that Zion's voice?"

Harvey ignored him and continued, "The netherworld will kill monsters. The Kahuna will be back. So, stop scaring me." He seemed to boast about his relationship but what he thought will just slip into his mouth unknowingly. Mickey was petrified after hearing it so he agreed, "Kahuna will kill monsters that will hurt his wife." Harvey spanked Mickey's head and Mickey nauseated. "You. Why did you hit my head?"

"That's what you want so I just grant it," Harvey said dismissively.

Jessica's clone was already in metamorphosis. Her head was turning around viewing that perfect four corners. That body gradually transforms into hairy skin. Her clothes were being torn forcibly showing Jessica's bare body. Mickey was awestricken after seeing Jessica's body while Harvey looked at her with an expressionless face.

"What monster is that?", Harvey posted a  question while wiping his sweat.

"I don't know.", Mickey answered willingly.

"You don't know? Are you really a keeper?"

"Yes. I am. It is just a first seeing that body.", Mickey replied unknowingly as he looked at Jessica's body.

Harvey felt something about Mickey so he hit Mickey's head again, "You, pervert. Stop daydreaming. What monster is that?"

"HAHA. That keeper is brainless. So, stop asking him.", that voice was behind them. Harvey listened to the voice and felt familiar when he saw it. There, Zion standing with a big smile. Harvey was nervous after meeting him again. Mickey whose daydreaming, suddenly, composed himself and then declared, "Kahuna. You make us wait for so long. Your wife missed you so much."

"Really?"

"Yes, Kahuna. He sacrificed everything just to see you.", Mickey told him with a trembling voice. Harvey on the other side lowered his head and stayed silent. Zion stared at Harvey sweetly and then patted Harvey's shoulder, "I know your efforts. So, don't be ashamed.", Zion turned his head to face Mickey, "I want to know what he is doing on my body when I am on my rest."

Mickey scratched his head and reflected on the words to describe, "Kahuna. He loves you. He does what lovers do."

"Stop chatting around. The monster is in my room. If you don't kill her, I will.", Harvey interjected then grabbed that big book and threw it at Jessica's body.

Zion laughed loudly and then uttered, "Mickey, is my wife that very insensitive while I am not here?"

Mickey nodded and continued, "Yes, Kahuna. He always kills the moment."

"If you don't shut your mouth, then go out. I will deal with this monster on my own." Harvey boasted as he was that strong and can kill that monster. In his mind, how he can kill it? It was from the netherworld so it was very impossible to do it but, these boring netherworld residents were chatting on the brink of death.

The metamorphosis of that monster can be clearly seen. It was no longer human as its body turned hairy. Its face was cracking revealing that worm-ridden flesh. That monster's eyes were bulging and its cornea was displaced. Its mouth was wide open showing its sharp teeth and a cut tongue. Harvey lost his courage after seeing it. He slowly stepped back and wiped his sweat. Zion noticed him very afraid so he grabbed Harvey's arm to his side. Mickey approached the monster and then drew a circle before it. The monster attacked Mickey but his protection was strong. Mickey held that monster's hairy body and then pushed it into the black hole. "Freaks are not allowed in the real world. So, stop displaying yourself here. "

"Done, Kahuna. Why that low-level monster just appears suddenly?", Mickey wondered while slowly sticking his anklet on his wrist.

"Are you okay, Harvey?", Zion faced Harvey.

"It is nothing.", Harvey murmured then removed Zion's hand. Mickey saw them and said, "Kahuna. I think I will now to go back to the netherworld now."

"Protect the netherworld from treachery. Keep an eye on other keepers.", Zion demanded then waved his hand to let Mickey go.

"Harvey. I hope I will see you again.", then he paused and scratched his head, "I will miss Jessica too."

Harvey grimaced and then replied, "Bring her in your place." Zion, on the other side, seemed confused so he interrupted, "Keepers aren't allowed to love humans."

Mickey quirked his brows and said, "Kahuna seems against that rule, too." Zion glared at him so Mickey just lowered his head and then changed the topic, "Harvey, can I bring sweet potatoes into the netherworld?"

"Bring all that but you must give notice to your superior. I heard that your Kahuna was very strict about things so..", Harvey casually talked about Zion, with Mickey. He ignored Zion on his side and just talked and talked. Mickey was feeling intimidated so he just stayed silent.

"Why are you so silent?", Harvey saw Mickey who didn't utter any words.

"...."

"Okay. Your Kahuna's eyes were fierce and any minute will burn you. Oh, I will just inform Jessica that you will come back sooner.", Harvey enjoyed as the king of talk at this time. Zion still watched him intently and smiled every time he peeked at him.

"My boyfriend seems talkative, now.", Zion declared with a big smile.

Mickey seized an opportunity so he replied joyously, "Kahuna. I saw him kissing you. Maybe, that's the result."

Harvey was surprised so he quickly stood up and went to the washroom. He will need to avoid this cornering or else he might end up the chump of the conversation. Zion noticed his sudden walk out so he followed Harvey leaving Mickey with an embarrassed face.

Mickey mumbled, "I will hate myself. Why did I say that to Kahuna?" He regretted what he had already said. But, since it slipped from his mouth, there was no taking it back. So, he just scratched his head and drew a circle in the air. Then the black hole appeared and Mickey entered it again.
