Chapter 38: CHAPTER 38: Jessica’s First Entry

Harvey and Mickey were very silent the whole day. That apartment was solemn as if nothing living inside. The skies were dark and seemed going to rain, so Harvey just decided to sleep early even if it was still 4 at noon. He wanted to ease his embarrassment and to hope that this day will revolve instantly. Mickey, also, had a job as a delivery man, so he went to his work even if he was too late. That day was very exhausting but still good when Zion was already back to life.

Two days after, Harvey received a message from an unknown number. "No Life." He was still eating when he read that message. That two words confused him a lot so he asked Mickey who just awakened from sleep, "Mickey, what're these two words mean?" Mickey stood up sluggishly and read the phone message. He quickly livened up and composed himself.

"No Life? If lifeless, means death.", Mickey slowly concluded. Harvey was shocked and posted a question, "The netherworld again?"

Mickey crossed his arms and then answered, "Particularly the dark realm.", then he shook his head and continued, "This dark realm is joining again. They fell but seems... It is a bad future."

"Is that dark realm very dangerous?", Harvey wanted to know about that dark realm.

Mickey smiled and then boasted, "Netherworld is the strongest so that realm can't conquer us.". But, in Mickey's mind, it was not the real situation. That dark realm was finding Harvey so, he can't let that topic slip into his mouth.

Harvey smirked and then added, "Keepers are very proud of themselves."

"HAHAHA. I give credit to our Kahuna. Without him, we are now buried in the darkness.", Mickey replied solemnly.

Harvey lowered his head suddenly as he wanted to ask about Zion but he can't simply open his mouth about it. This keeper didn't know how to hide a secret. In a loud voice, Harvey emphasized, "I will not allow that Kahuna of yours to visit here again."

Mickey frowned and teased, "Yes, I will inform him but I don't want to see you hiding in the corner and missing him silently."

Harvey confirmed, "I am not that emotional person. I don't miss someone forever."

"Really? Then tell me, seriously. How do you feel about Zion?", Mickey was now serious since as he observed from Harvey's attitude, he was hiding his emotions.

"....."

"What are your feelings towards our Kahuna?", Mickey asked forcefully.

"I will love a person differently so stop asking me like your my mother.", Harvey replied indifferently.

Mickey nodded and then smiled, "I see. You really love Zion so much."

Harvey walked away and then shut the door violently. Mickey was stunned as Harvey ignored him. In his mind, you can't joke with him about love. Exciting relationship? He giggled while filling with thoughts as he thought that Harvey wasn't that showy person, if he loves, he will not display it. What a romantic person. Mickey languidly walked into the kitchen to cook breakfast. He turned on the radio and listened to a love song.

It was not that long before Harvey was back again. Mickey noticed so he ran into the living space and saw Harvey was drenched in blood. Mickey was worried so he asked, "Harvey, what happen to you?"

Harvey was still panting and stuttered, "The tenants and the old landlady were brawling in the street. Then..."

Mickey was still confused so he clarified, "Then, that blood means someone was killed?"

Harvey nodded and then continued, "It seemed they had something as they killed murderously. That man who also lives here brought an axe and hacked it to the landlady. Then, that landlady was being stripped into pieces. The blood scattered everywhere."

"We will call the police.", Mickey suggested.

Harvey said worriedly, "There are already policemen outside but they're just watching as in a show. The spectators are laughing and amazed by the crime before them. I don't know what happens to them."

Mickey put his fingers on his jaw and then talked, "Lock the door. We are not safe here anymore. I have no choice but to bring you into the netherworld." Mickey smiled and finished with his sentence, "The dark realm is very unfair."

Harvey followed Mickey's direction so he locked the door when suddenly, he saw Jessica in the hole. Her face was very worried and she was calling for help. Harvey asked Mickey, "Mickey, Jessica is here. I think she needs our help. Can I open her?"

"Not yet. If you can look at her eyes, check if those eyes were still normal. No other colors and sort of."

Harvey wiped his sweat while watching Jessica outside. He didn't see anything peculiar so he declared, "Can you check her too? I might prone to mistake."

Mickey who was drawing a circle paused and also checked the hole. Mickey frowned and then mumbled, "She is okay. Open her."

Harvey was already holding the knob and opened the door rapidly. He allowed Jessica to enter and then he shut the door that instant too. Jessica was panting and breathing heavily. So, Mickey ran for a glass of water and then gave it to her.

"Drink this hurriedly.", Mickey demanded Jessica. Harvey also was having a worried face and then slowly peeked out the window to check the happening outside. There were still people in the street, laughing and bustling as if they were having fun but what they were watching was that bloody crime.

Jessica was now relaxed and she stammered, "O..outside. The people became maniacs. I saw them, killing each other. What happened to them?", then she wiped her sweat with the handkerchief.

Mickey walked before the hole and then beckoned the two, "Come. We must hurry, that people are not normal. At any minute, they will reach there and also ambush us. So, come."

"What's that? I don't want to. I am scared.", Jessica apprehended. So, Mickey smiled and answered honestly, "Don't worry. I am now your keeper who will protect you from danger."

Harvey also leaned his hand on Jessica's shoulder to bring her into the hole. He whispered "This is now the world. So, just join us. You can ask him about this after we already entered."

Jessica blinked her eyes and still hesitated but she had no choice. The three, stepped into that black hole leaving the apartment that may be attacked by the dark realm.

They entered the black hole that instant and it lead directly to the high stade. Zion was seating on his cathedra and those keepers were solemn on the right side. Mickey sluggishly walked bringing Harvey and Jessica in front of Zion. The keepers were stunned and whispering to each other, while Zion was expressionless.

"Kahuna. The dark realm is now assaulting the world.", Mickey knelt before Zion and announced it seriously.

Zion with crossed legs, waved his hand to let Mickey away. So, Mickey hurried his steps back to the keepers' place. Harvey was standing there with a proud expression and stared at Zion. While Jessica crouched down as she felt afraid of the people before her. Harvey took a glance at her and he said, "Missus, you can stand up, now. Don't be afraid of this man seating proudly on his golden chair." Jessica looked up and obeyed Harvey. She stood behind him and hide her presence.

Those keepers heard Harvey's declaration as he insulted their Kahuna. So, one of the keepers reminded Harvey, "You. Don't insult our Kahuna, especially in front of him. If you will do that again, you will be thrown below. Leaving your body chewed by those monsters."

Mickey was stunned since he knew that Harvey was Zion's keep so he slowly interjected, "According to rules, meddling is prohibited. Showing disrespect to visitors is also bound to punishment. Then, now, please slow your mouth."

Zion laughed and then declared," Who is that keeper who had the guts for a suggestion? Come, here."

That teal-clad keeper was the one with guts so he wiped his sweat that just flowed down violently. Then, he slowly approached Zion and knelt. He mumbled, "Kahuna, this keeper will apologize for being disrespectful."

Harvey fell silent and understood that this netherworld had also some good rules. He was amazed by the interaction of a despotic Kahuna and that scared keeper. So, he declared, "You are forgiven." That teal-clad keeper slowly moved his head and then stared pitifully at Harvey. The other keepers were left speechless and just watched Harvey with confused expressions.

"Yes, you are forgiven. Don't kneel on this ground, your meticulous clad will be dirty.", then he watched the other keepers and declared, "Starting from now on, kneeling before this man in black is not a rule anymore."

Zion was just silent while stroking his cheek as he was amused. The other keepers were smiling and seemed relieved. But, deep inside, they were very intimidated.

Jessica asked behind Harvey, "You're not afraid of that man?", she seemed didn't acknowledge him anymore so Harvey laughed, " His name was just a name. So, where he sits, I can sit it too. It is just the same as the world. I have money, then that money will be passed to each hand, poor or rich. The only barrier that deprived us of being equal is our name."

"You wanted to sit here, right? Then, I will be glad if you sit here in my lap.", Zion interjected and maybe teasing him again.

Mickey's ears quirked and then he burst into laughter which surprised other keepers. One of the keepers asked, "What are you laughing at? Kahuna will punish you."

Harvey's ears turned red again and Jessica noticed it so she asked, "What's wrong with your ears? Are you feeling dizzy?"

Zion was still expressionless when he called Mickey, "Brown-clad. Bring these two people into my room.  I think one of them seems sick."

Mickey was still smiling then slowly approached Jessica and Harvey. "Harvey. Your ears are feeling in love.", he whispered to Harvey and then quickly beckoned them to the black hole again. The other keepers seemed in contemplation as they watched Harvey who was following Mickey. They suspected Harvey but they just hid it for the sake of their safety. Then, they stared at the Kahuna for a while. Zion stood up and then waved his hand. "Go away. I will take some rest." The keepers understood and they quickly went to their designated holes. The high stade returned to barren land again after Zion entered the hole leading to his room.
