Chapter 12: I Have A Few Abilities

I laid in bed with Aquaria for a while before I spoke up. I still had a bunch of questions.

 

"What is your job then? Aren't you supposed to be looking after a world or something?" I asked, but Aquaria shook her head.

 

"No, sadly, my hero and last world were killed, and my severance pay wasn't that good, but I have a new job coming up!" Aquaria said with excitement as she cuddled into me, but then she let out a long sigh. "But that means I have to go down there and infuse the target with Chaos Essence."

 

"That does sound like a pain in the ass, but isn't it better than having to kill them yourself?" I asked, but Aquaria sighed again.

 

"Yes, but there will also be an evil god trying to compete with me. They are dangerous and much more effective at what they do than I am. They know how to twist people in ways that someone like me would never dream of. Let's just say that I am not too confident in being able to beat the one that I will be competing against," Aquaria explained, and I was the one to let out a sigh.

 

"That does sound like a pain in the ass, but I have faith in you," I said as I hugged her. "You are a strong and capable woman, and I know you will be able to do this."

 

Aquaria smiled at me and kissed me on the cheek before snuggling closer. "Thank you for believing in me," she said. "But the evil god is Harlequin, and he is extremely good at poisoning people's minds by using things they care about to force them to do his bidding. I need at least a week of being very close, which is nearly impossible since I have to stay hidden from everyone."

 

I thought about it for a moment. "What if I come with you?" I asked, and Aquaria looked up at me in shock.

 

"You would do that for me?" she asked, and I nodded.

 

"I care about you a lot, and I want to help you in any way that I can," I said, and Aquaria hugged me tightly as she started to cry softly.

 

"Thank you so much," she said between sobs. "But I have to leave in three days! There is no way that you are going to make it back that fast!"

 

"I don't care," I said as I hugged her back just as tightly. "I am going to help you no matter what. To do that, you will have to teach me the things I need to know."

 

"I am not really good at training, and you are leaving tomorrow!" Aquaria said, rubbing her face on my chest.

 

"I just need to know what I have available to me and where to go. I was told there is a place I can go to get suited up once I am in the world, right?" I asked. "How do I find that?"

"I enjoyed it too," Aquaria said as she leaned over and kissed me. We got lost in the kiss for a moment before we pulled away and just stared at each other. "So, what do you want to ask now?"

 

"Next is the abilities and stuff. What is that? like in a video game?" I asked, and Aquaria rolled onto my chest and kissed me before answering.

 

"Each world is different. Not only will you meet different races, but some of the worlds will give you extraordinary powers, and they should never be discounted. While you will have just arrived on the cloud, you will always be really good at something. To find that out, you just have  to think of abilities, and a list will appear in your mind." Aquaria explained as she moved down to my stomach and started kissing it. "Of course, you can also test out some of your abilities on me if you want."

 

"I think I would like that," I said as Aquaria's head disappeared below the sheets. "what about you? What kind of abilities do you...uhh!" 

 

I never got to finish my question because Aquaria had started doing something that was making it really hard to concentrate.
