Sitting in the back seat of the car I stared out of the window with a bored expression, observing all the different buildings, vehicles and pedestrians we passed along the way.
My father a very busy man was the one driving and my mother who was equally busy sat in the front passenger's seat.
It was very surprising to me considering that they would usually let the chauffeur handle these type of situations.
Then again today is special to them and only them.
My father with his eyes still set on the road
"Dante don't forget why you were enrolled here"
I replied in monotone voice "Yeah" while scrolling through my cellphone.
After being adopted at the age of nine due to me being placed in foster care because of dysfunctional household. A manipulative and mentally abusive father combined with a narcissistic mother who only showed me an ounce of affection/attention when it was needed for her own benefit.
Let's just say the combination didn't nurture me in the correct way especially at that tender age.
In foster care, the children were easy to manipulate. It's not like that was the first thing I had in mind when I got there.
I just wanted peace and quiet. So in hindsight that was the fastest way to achieve my self imposed goal.
My peaceful and quiet life came to an end around three months into it when the Kaneko family came into the picture.
They wanted to adopt a child from our foster home, mainly because they wanted a second heir and their only child wanted a younger sibling.
Due to their strict requirements, they burnt through the rest of foster homes and we were the last one on their list.
We had to partake in mental examinations that gauged our intelligence along with one on one interviews to scout us out as candidates.
After two weeks of that, I was selected because I met the criteria.
Anyway back to the present and enough of the past.
The car ride felt long as if we had been driving for half a day.
Ok fine I was exaggerating, it felt more like 3 hours but my rear was starting to hurt from sitting too long.
After impatiently asking "How much longer till the school gates?"

My mother answered "About roughly five minutes"
Both of my parents were alumni there so they knew the distance like the back of their hands.

"Dante if you have any issues don't forget that your brother is there as well" my mother added in.
My brother Dane Kaneko was a second year student.
His intelligence and two faced manner made him a deadly person to others but a predictable person to me.
People would often compare us with the difference being he tried his hardest and I rarely tried at all.
They would label it as squandering my gift.
It's not like I was doing it on purpose but I just didn't see the point of it.
Finally, we were at the school gates.
As I opened the car door, I was briskly stopped by my father.
"Remember why you were enrolled here"
I nodded my head and exited the vehicle.
I knew the reason why I was forcefully sent here but I really has zero intentions of carrying it out.
As I waved my parents goodbye, I noticed a few students staring at me.
It was understandable, the vehicle was the latest model Mercedes S Class so it just screams wealth in their eyes.
To me it was just my parents enjoying the finest things in life to them.
I just hope that I didn't run into any of those eat the rich type of students because it would have been awkward.
Thinking back on me filling out the application form for enrollment, what I envisioned was a regular high school experience.
You know the make friends, attend parties, possibly find love and enjoy the next three years of my life.
I haven't had any other relationships besides my new family and the tutors that came to educate me.
Dane went to private school and I was home schooled due to my past issues so I barely had any real interacts with people my age.
Not like I minded that. I am pretty sure that due to my family's name that is tied to wealth and influence, forming genuine friendships would be a hassle.
Ah yes the pain and struggle of the little rich kid, how ever would I survive?
