Five days had passed since our penalty exam and everybody was still on edge.

We had no idea which student would be penalized for midterms.

I'll be honest and say that I felt a bit relaxed even though there was mountains of pressure on the class to pass without losing any students.

I actually started to get used to my finger cast. I mean, I couldn't do everything I normally would have been able to do in complete comfort, but hey, I'm glad that it's fractured and not amputated. Now that would have been a bummer.

I stood on the 5th floor public balcony, just overlooking the students who were on the lower floors and on the opposite side of my room. The way the dormitory is built, there is a court yard in the center of the building, which would be in view from any floor of the dormitory once you stepped out of your door and got a bit closer to the railings, which obviously prevent us from leaning in too much and accidentally performing a Swanton bomb onto the lower floors.

Anyway, I checked the time. It is 10 p.m. Absolute lock-off time for anyone of the opposite gender in regards to entering another person's room. In simpler terms, let's simplify it.

Boy + Girl + Dorm Room + after 10pm until 6am = Nope, that's not allowed.

Boy + Girl + Dorm Room + Anytime that is not between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. = Have fun in there, you wild kids.

The rule just felt so flawed to me. It's not like banning us from each other's rooms from 10 in the night to 6 in the morning will change the possible outcome of those activities among students.

Fine I'll stop my early quarter-night rant.

As I looked down on the second floor, I noticed two students going into a dorm room. I'll just pretend I never saw that.

*Ping*

My attention was taken off of the couple and onto my phone, which had just received a text message.

I pressed on it and the message opened.

From: A.I

Meet me at the bench furthest from my dorm building.

I guess this means one thing.

Before I left for the spot, I threw on a black hoodie because of the chilly weather. Making my way down to the 1st floor. I noticed a few students still hanging out without a care in the world. Maybe to them, high school is just one big party. Well, that's what part of me hoped for in the beginning, but I accepted this reality, and now I have to learn to cope with it.

I was finally out of my dorm building, then made a left and followed the path which was laid out for us.

The night felt so dead yet peaceful at the same time. You have the refreshing chilly air, the music of the night played by grasshoppers in unison. Don't even get me started on Mother Moon's gentle rays of light gleaming down on us and the countless stars glistening in the sky. All of those things remind me of the alluring beauty that is the darkness.

Still walking towards my destination. Something caught my eye. It was Kaori Murata, standing with a male student. I could tell that he wasn't from our year group because I definitely would have remembered. Maybe it was just the poor lighting and he was from our year group. I decided to leave it at that because what other people do during their leisure time is none of my concern, and I am pretty sure that it is natural for one to be in a relationship after all.

Well, again, I have no dating experience, so I'll just go off of my previous statement and chalk it up to living beings doing living being things.

I finally made my way to the meet up spot and saw the person sitting on the opposite side of the bench.

I took a seat on the farthest side and said, "Calling or texting will be more convenient than making me walk all this way."

The person adjusted themselves while sitting.

"Jean is starting to crack down on our communication with other classes due to fear of information leaks. Also, I wanted to personally tell you this."

"What is it?"

"He's planning on aligning himself with class 1-1."

I side-eyed the person and replied, "So he wants to fortify his rule by aligning himself with stronger allies, but what doesn't make any sense is that class 1-1 definitely has a bone to pick with your class, so why would they agree to an alliance? Unless something else is at play here."

The person sighed, then pulled down her hoodie, revealing her long sliver hair.

I did the same and asked. "So that does mean what I think it does?"

Asuka Itou turned her head to me. "Yes it does."

I got up from the bench and replied, "It's getting late, so you should head back inside."

Asuka didn't say anything and left.

This situation is the second to last thing I needed to happen right now, but I can't say I am too surprised.

I was making my way back to my dormitory now, and I walked past the same spot where I saw Kaori and the mystery person.

They were still standing there, engaged in whatever conversation that they seemed to be having.

Kaori's body language gave off the vibe that she was uncomfortable in the situation, while the male's body language seemed more aggressive.

I stood quite a distance from them with my hood of jacket on my head so they wouldn't recognize my face, mainly Kaori. I couldn't have her suspecting me of stalking her.

I stood there for around a minute or so.

Then the male grabbed Kaori by her wrist, but she didn't make a sound.

I continued to observe the situation but elected not to intervene in whatever was happening. Mostly because I wanted to see how the entire thing would unfold.

In a moment of clumsiness, I accidently kicked a can on the ground, and it alerted the pair to an unknown presence.

Both of them look around for a few moments.

Finally, she spotted me and broke out of the male's hold.

After that, the two of them left the area quickly.

What an interesting situation.
