The male librarian pushed a button on the large photocopier in front of him.

I was in the library, getting one or two photocopies of a few documents.

The librarian pulled the platen cover of the photocopier upwards and removed the original paper.

Afterwards, I gave him my student ID which he scanned, then gave it back to me along with the original and plus the copy.

The institute credited our library accounts every term with a small sum of money, which can be used to pay for late fees, photocopies or direct print outs.

I looked at both documents in my hand before one of them was quickly plucked out of it.

"I'll be taking that."

Yuka held the signed agreement between class 1-2 and class 1-4 in her right hand.

I replied, "It's not like I can run off with it. You already know where I live."

"That's true but I can never be too careful around you."

I sighed, "Just what image of me, do you have in your mind?"

Yuka placed her index finger under her bottom lip and said, "Hmmm. The image is a person who is shiesty and has ultra motives in everything he does."

I put my left hand in my pants pocket, "If that's your perspective of me then that should also, be the perspective of yourself as well."

Yuka gave a slight smile, "After all, I did say that we are basically the same."

I began to walk towards the library exit, along with Yuka who followed closely behind.

"So those books you gave to me when we were younger. It taught me some interesting things at my young age. Is that why you made me read them?"

"Those are stories that I actually enjoyed but, I also hoped that you would apply certain themes to your mindset while growing up."

Yuka seemed a bit surprised, "The Higashi Workshop taught me about them as well. Did you know that my father would enroll me there eventually?"

"Not necessarily, but it would have been illogical for your father in an attempt to develop exceptional people at a young age, not to include his own child. Then again, it is my fault that you were enrolled there in the first place. If I hadn't left, you would have never been enrolled. Mr. Higashi was teetering on the idea of you, being a student there or getting development at a natural pace in a regular school."

Yuka paused in her tracks, "Yeah, you running away three years into your cycle, pushed my father to enroll me in hopes of recreating your results."

"You spent 7 years in cycle 100. Did you make progress?"

"Yes I did. During our short interactions, you gave me some of the tools that I needed to survive in there."

I turned towards her, "Do you hate me for being the cause of you, missing 7 years of your childhood?"

Yuka shifted her eyes to the carpeted flooring and replied, "At first, I resented you for leaving. Then I remembered our last conversation, you foreshadowed it and I was too ignorant to pick up on the hints. Now my question to you is, was it worth it? Did you find that freedom you so desired?"

I held my breath momentarily when I heard those questions.

My selfishness caused her to be in a situation which I hated for myself.

Yuka Higashi is still a precious person in my life but I have to keep her at an arm's length for the time being.

She noticed that, I couldn't give a straight answer.

"I'll take your silence as a no."

I gave a half smile and replied, "You guessed right."

Yuka wagged her left index finger, "Sigh. You've gone too soft. The Dante from back then would have, instantly owned up to it and not have any regrets. The current you hesitates to answer a simple question like that."

I twisted my lips to the side, "You're still going on about me, not fully being the person that you knew?"

Yuka poked me in my chest with her finger and replied, "My word of advice is, if you don't embrace that side even more while you're in here. You'll be swallowed up by the environment, especially in a class such as 1-4. You guys are still lacking the ideal weapons to properly stand, toe to toe with the rest of the classes and since I know you oh so well, you won't be there for the full three years in order to carry them."

I scratched the back of my head, "I am sure that, they'll get the hang of it."

Still poking me in my chest with her finger, Yuka glared at me.

"Also that behind the scenes stunt that you pulled last clash, don't expect it to work on me so easily."

I nervously laughed, "Aren't we supposed to be allies?"

"If your class places higher than mine, in the next clash. I'll be open to a potential alliance."

I exhaled loudly, "Didn't you just say that my class couldn't compete on equal footing?"

Yuka looked at me, a devilish smirk crept on her attractive face.

"It depends on how you approach it during the next class clash. Will you come at it as Kaneko or Sato?"

I turned my back to her and replied, "I'll come at it as myself."

"Also. Do you think that you scored high enough for the extra 20% bonus?"

"About that. I have a favor to ask of you."

Yuka chuckled, "You do know favors come at a price right?"

"What do you want?"

Yuka walked past me and said, "I'll text it to you when the time is right.

With that, she exited the library.

One of the things I dislike is owing anyone anything.

A favor can be a potential weapon of used correctly, and I just loaded one bullet in the chamber then gave the gun to Yuka.

Even so, it will prove valuable in the future. Just in case there are any unforeseen circumstances.

*Vibration*

My phone received an email.

I quickly reached into my pocket and pulled it out.

Oh it's from the school.
