The dormitory was to the east of the campus. It consisted of several buildings each 5 stories high, they were meant to be our homes for the next 3 years
It was coed so you could end up with a pretty student as your neighbor if you're lucky.
The school didn't ban students of the opposite sex from going into each other's dorm rooms but they did set certain ground rules such as no company after 10pm along with the expected no sex rule but let's be real here there are things you can't stop students from partaking in.
After entering the dorm building I was assigned to. I stood on the first floor where the receptionists were stationed.
The ambience felt like your run of the mill office setting complete with the potted plants, vending machines and an elevator.
My room was situated on the 5th floor but I elected to take the stairs over the lift due to the fact that the area there was a bit crowded.
After walking up the stairs, I was at the fourth floor.
Before continuing my journey upwards. I spotted a female student.
She was quite stunning with a slender figure, golden hair and blue eyes.
The type of girl you would see on the cover of fashion magazines.
I stared for a few seconds not sure if it was because I found her to be attractive or if I saw her somewhere besides right now.
I shook out of my trance when I discovered that she was also staring at me.
Her stare felt intense, as if she had a heavy distaste for me.
After giving an awkward wave I continued up the stairs.
I repeated "Room 115, Room 155" in my head while scanning the different door numbers.
After a bit I found the door I was looking for.
Using my student ID as wireless key, I passed it over the scanner next to the door and it opened.
Since there was a spike in funding, they decided to go all out with some things. Still I would have preferred a traditional key.
Entering the room, the first thing I checked were lights and the water.

I would estimate that the room was 200 square feet which is basically your typical dorm room with our own private kitchen and bathroom.
Not having any roommates was a huge bonus as well.
I couldn't see myself coexisting with anybody else right now.
Having someone else around would most likely ruin my peaceful space I was trying to create.
Then with how this school is operating I highly doubt my peace will last for very long.
Pitting classes against each other under the guise of giving a most likely once in a life time opportunities to the number one class. Leaving nothing for the second, third and fourth ranked besides the pampered education they received for free.
Doesn't sound too bad when I think about it. Still a win-win situation in my book.
Wanting to be the best is something most persons aspire to achieve.
Personally, I didn't see the point in all of it.
I rather just do well enough to get by. All this struggle to prove one's superiority over the other was just childish to me.
Then again maybe I am just looking at it the wrong way.
I am looking at it through the eyes of a person set for life already. A person who doesn't need to fight tooth and nail in order to create my future.
That's one of the reasons why I don't feel a sense of urgency, why taking these class clashes feels so pointless.
I know that's not the case for my brother Dane. He loves competition, he loves the spot light, taking charge and leading his team to victory.
Compared to him, I basically seem like a child with no ambition.
Which was true but yet false to an extent.
I hate to lose, gaining victory by any means isn't foreign to me.
I guess I'll just sit back and observe for the time being
