Their car pulled up at a residential building, parking down next to the sidewalk. Getting out of the car, a sea of people were crowding the busy street, even as snow was falling heavily.
“It’s another Asylum seekers’ residence?” asked Hiyori, watching the more than 10 story high complex they stood before.
“No. But one does work here.” shook his head Everlong, leading the way, walking in but instead of going towards the elevator he went straight for the stairs, going downwards.
“In a basement?” followed him Hiyori with hurried steps, arriving at a thick door, labeled as a service entrance, only for authorized personnel only.
“It’s repurposed. Your people are 99% law abiding citizens, a simple sign and you won’t even try to go in!” chuckled, trying the handle of the door but it was closed of course.
“Lockpick?” tilted her head, expecting him to do the same when they visited their grandparent’s old home.
“Nah.” smiled Everlong before knocking on it in a pattern “-- .- -- -- --- -.”
“Morse code?” asked Hiyori, curious as Everlong nodded with a satisfied smile that she catched on.
“I’ll teach it to you later. For now just watch closely how I do it!”
It did not take long to make the handle turn and when the door opened it revealed a whole, dimly lit shop before them. Everlong walked in first while Hiyori quickly followed, not wanting the door to accidentally close before her. Looking around it was like some kind of ancient, trinket selling shop from the previous century. The air was damp and stuffy, only aired out when the door opened up once in a while. She tried to hold back the cough that wanted to escape from her throat but in the end she was unsuccessful.
“Humans?” came the gurgling, weird grumble from the other end of the rows of shelves, packed with hundreds of weird objects, scrolls, trinkets, body parts floating in some murky, dirty jars or ominously glowing, buzzing, little boxes, containing who knows what.
Walking forward, Everlong had to turn sideways so he could squeeze himself through the shelves, without knocking anything over and for the first time Hiyori was relieved that she was thin and short, unbothered by the lack of space around them. Climbing out from there, they finally stood before another wall that looked like a cage with bars made out of white bones, embedded into a black, iron counter, running from wall to wall, only leaving a small window in the middle where they could exchange money and goods. On the other side of it sat a fat, blob-like, naked demon. It had two rows of four, meaty tits hanging downwards, like flaps of meat, ending in puffy, dark red nipples. It was hard to tell if it was a female or not because its huge, bloated belly covered everything down below as it was sitting on a barstool. Even its short, baby-like feet were barely sticking out from under its fat. Its face was like a melting wheel of cheese, Hiyori could not make out where its eyes, nose or mouth was, if it even had one. It did not help that its voice was also like someone gasping for air but instead managing to gulp down water.
“Everlong?” asked the thing and even Hiyori could hear the fear running through it… especially because the fleshy blob of a demon shook like a jello on a plate. Its four pairs of hands stopped playing with its nipples, nervously, shaking them, trying to get off the grease, squeezed out from its tits, splattering it everywhere.
“Ugh…” retched Hiyori, watching it unfold, especially as some drops even fell towards her, landing at her feet, smelling like the sweat from between the cheeks of a warthog.
“You got even fatter, Ezrothel! You look like a slab of butter, melting in the oven! I can’t believe the stories that you were a Cherub once!”
“What do you want? We do business here! A client should not insult the one who gets you the things! Don’t you know that is bad for you?”
“Oh really? You fucking piece of shit.” laughed Everlong.
“He… is it a he? He smells like one…” murmured Hiyori, watching with trepidation and disgust.
“He is rotten to the core, that is why.” said Everlong calmly, watching the yellowish skin of his “He was a little baby faced cherub one time but sided with Lucifer in the War In Heaven. Now look at him, turning his baby fat into a fat baby.”
“Are you here for a history lesson for your new pupil or what? It does not come for free!” gurgled Ezrothel with an annoyed voice.
“No, not history lesson, but because I am going to teach her, how to exorcize a demon of christianity back to hell from the mortal plane!” answered with a smile.
“Exorcize? Okay, I have things you need for that! But it won’t come cheap, not after you insulted me!” grumbled as two, completely white, angelic wings appeared behind him, barely able to lift its obese body up… but they did. With struggle. When he rose up from the stool he was sitting on, it was accompanied by the sound of squelching, making Hiyori turn away, holding her mouth with one hand, shaking, leaning forward while squinting, trying to erase the image and sound from her memory.
Everlong just waited patiently, while the bubbling, grumbling cherub gathered everything onto the counter, on his side, behind the bone bars.
“To banish a being back to its origin, you need to know its name.” started Everlong in a voice that was mellow, kind and patient. Hiyori immediately turned back, towards him, listening fully, ignoring even the smell of the wheezing, panting fat demon who was at the other side.”What Ezrothel is gathering now are ingredients to trap it in place.”
“Trap it?” asked Hiyori as the answer to it came from the fallen cherub’s gurgling laughter.
“No demon would wait so you can speak out its name! They would immediately escape before you have a chance to do so!” cackled “You need fine hell soil to bind the earth.” placed a box of simple, black dirt on the counter, followed by a vial with a lava-like substance glowing inside of it “Then a circle formed from hellfire, binding the air.”
“He is right.” nodded Everlong with a smirk “After you trapped it, the real fight starts. A demon, cornered, would not go down easily. It is going to do everything to kill you before you gain control over it! So it is best if you injure it first!”
“And knowing the name is not enough!” continued Ezrothel again “You have to be able to pronounce it! Good luck with that!”
“Is that… a difficulty?” raised her eyebrows Hiyori, looking from the floating meatsack towards Everlong.
“Yeah. True demon’s names are not something a human usually is able to pronounce. They are not part of the mortal language. Ezrothel here listens to the name we know him as but it is not HIS name.” explained it to Hiyori with a smile as Ezrothel put the last component, with a loud cough, onto the table. It was an ancient piece of paper that was dried up, almost crumbling apart by simply looking at it.
“Great!” sighed Hiyori “But I assume there is a way?”

“Yes.” chuckled Everlong, reaching forward, towards the paper, but Ezrothel just grabbed at it quickly, picking it up, splashing the grease from his body everywhere, soaking the iron counter.
“No touching! Not until you pay!” said, almost screaming, sounding like it was coming from inside of a bubbling soup on the stove.
“Yeah, sure!” pulled out his gun Everlong and before Ezrothel could react he simply shot off one of his hands, which was holding the paper. While he screamed and squealed like a pig, Everlong grabbed it out of the air, dipping his finger into the grease that was spraying everywhere. What came out from the mutilated body of the cherub was not blood but nasty, foul smelling fat, soaking everything. Hiyori had no time to even flinch from the surprise of what Everlong did, she just watched on with a baffled look.
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!” panicked Ezrothel, but Everlong already drew up a weird symbol on the paper with his nasty bodily fluids. It was already too late for him. Everlong, when pulling out his gun, with his other hand he already grabbed the soil, sprinkling it around. By the time he pulled the trigger he was flicking the vial towards the wall, letting hellfire spread out in a circle around the screaming Ezrothel.
“Demonic names, or angelic, depending on your viewpoint,” explained it to Hiyori, ignoring the cherub with a small smile “are all one symbol. You just need to draw it down with the demon’s own… fluids, and you are as good as speaking it out!”
“I see… So that is why you need to injure it first! So you have ink!” nodded Hiyori, keeping her calmness, even more than expected as she found it exhilarating, especially how panicked was the gross demon before her!
“Then you just hold it up, like this…” gave it to her hand, standing behind her, holding her hands, helping Hiyori in taking aim. “Show it to the demon then say; I banish you back to your origin!”
“That’s it?” blinked Hiyori “No latin verses or a Bible quote or something?” turned her head with a playful smile, towards him while Ezrothel was trying to smash, head first, into the bars or into the ceiling to escape, but everything simply repelled him, without any success in fleeing. He was imprisoned without a chance to escape.
“YOU CAN’T DO THIS! I GAINED ASYLUM!” roared, panicking and in complete desperation.
“You are not permitted to conduct sales of otherworldly products inside the human realm. For that you need an A-class permit, signed by a Sigil Bearer or a valid contract with the Agency. As you have neither, you violated your Asylum papers.” chuckled Everlong
“WHAT ARE YOU ON ABOUT?! I AM TRODUC’S EMPLOYEE! HE HAS THE PERMIT!”
“Troduc has one, yes. But you don’t.” nodded everlong, before gently stroking Hiyori’s head who immediately got what he was telling her with that.
“I banish you back to your origin!” shouted immediately, holding the paper up towards Ezrothel, unable to help herself from smiling from ear to ear.
The obeese blob of a cherub screamed with a distorted voice as the whole piece of paper burst into flames between Hiyori’s finger, turning into ash in a millisecond. Ezrothel’s whole body shook as a gaping, dark maw opened up behind him. It only lingered there for a brief moment before swallowing him whole as everything went back normal. It left no trace of the demon behind, besides his grease dripping from everywhere from before.
“Latin is not special, it is just another language from the old days.” patted her shoulders Everlong with a satisfied smile “What matters is the intent! Not some scripture that was rewritten a million times!”
“That was… awesome!” turned around Hiyori, with sparkling eyes, breathing heavily “Is every demon this stupid? Did he not realize you were here for him?”
“This bunch of rejects are way too confident in themselves and got sloppy. Troduc is… or was, a servant of Mammon, the Prince of Greed. Demons of his ilk are more interested in earning a profit, if you show interest in making a deal they would try to sell their mother’s soul to you in the end! These are his little minions he brought out with himself from Hell when he seeked Asylum! So they are all the same, easy to misdirect.” explained to her while looking around with a smile “None of them can shake off their origin! Troduc purchased a permit so he could trade with goods from Hell… but he skimped on acquiring one for every little helper of his! I’m just here to put them back where they belong, violating the Laws of Asylum! Plus… Troduc should have not refused to hear me out.” shook his head, walking out from the shop.
“You really are a bully!” laughed Hiyori, following him hurriedly.
“I am a reasonable person but the moment someone steps on my toe, I am going to break their leg. Someone from Hell should be aware of how the game is played!” replied, picking out a cigarette, lighting it up down there, taking only one drag from it before flicking it back at the grease covered place. He quickly closed the door behind them and Hiyori could only feel the building shaking as if an earthquake had come!
“Um…” looked up at him, afraid the whole ten story monstrum above them would collapse at any moment.
“Relax. It’s fine.” smiled and when the shaking stopped, reopening the door, behind it was nothing but a completely normal boiler room.
“How…” gawked Hiyori, finding it hard to believe what she was seeing.
“Magic!” replied Everlong, waving his hands.
“Fuck you!” blinked rapidly, shaking her head in the end, turning bright red “I mean-!”
“Ahaha, that was good~” laughed Everlong, leading her upwards, back to the street where it seemed nobody noticed anything. “Anyway, back to the car, we have to visit four other shops!”
“Damn… you are not playing around, are you?”
“Nope!”
“And you won’t tell me how the room changed into… that?” hurried after him, getting into the car.
“Nope!” chuckled, winking at her.
“Figures!” rolled her eyes, but still… smiling, finding it the most exciting day of her life so far!
