Everlong only stole a glance at the image, his blue eyes scanning it without any emotions or telling Sylial anything with his body language. She noticeably shifted in her standing position, trying to get a read on the man but she was completely unsuccessful in her endeavor, frustrating her greatly. Whatever happened to him in the past centuries, he was still a human. One that she couldn’t read at all!
“She had it because I gave it to her.” looked up at her, gently placing the cup of tea before her.
“And why did you give something like that away?” raised the cup Sylial, blowing on it with her rosy lips, her voice sounding charming and seducing.
“As a payment. What else for?” replied Everlong with smile, irritating Sylial because his eyes were looking at her like a parent answering a stupid question of his own child.
“Or you knew this was going to happen!” pressed on Sylial after taking a sip “You know I am an Angel of Salubrity! You knew she would be dealt with so you gave her my coin that I gifted to YOU! Not to a demon, you traitor!” put down the empty cup with force, staring daggers at him.
“Careful… those are brand new…” murmured Hiyori, feeling completely left out and irritated beyond belief, watching this ‘lovers quarrel’.
“Sorry…” flinched Sylial in a surprising way, scratching her throat.
“I had a guttural hunch she would be targeted. So I lent it to someone who needed it more than I did! I assume you saved her?” smiled, tilting his head to the right, not growing angry at all.
“I had to, she made a wish! A wish to be saved!” groaned, lowering her head, exhaling a long breath “Never in my long life have I ever imagined, one day I am going to save the life of a demon!”
“Then why give it to me in the first place?” laughed Everlong, asking the same question Hiyori wanted to know the answer for.
“You are a human!” answered immediately and with vigor “Someone who was twisted by the Arch Traitor, a poor soul lost to circumstances! Yet you broke free, you have a soul that can still be saved!”
“Sure…” rolled his eyes Everlong “You just called me traitor a moment ago because I gave away your gift.”
“There are still teachings of the Arch Traitor in you, no wonder you are not yet completely trustworthy! But it can be worked on!” argued with shining eyes, watching Everlong as a figure of great importance.
“Girl, you are fucking lost in your own world, aren’t you?” gawked Hiyori, blinking rapidly, dropping a sentence that silenced the room completely. “I know what it feels like, I did escape into my own little imaginary scenarios in my head when reality was way too bad to face…” shook her head, speaking with a sympathetic voice.
“You… Do you know who I am? What am I?” blinked Sylial, so surprised she forgot to become angry at her.
“His ex?” asked back Hiyori, crossing her arms before her flat chest, with a genuinely questioning look on her face.
“Hah!” laughed out Everlong now, finding it the most hilarious joke he heard in a long time.
“Me? Going out with him?” recoiled Sylial with real disgust appearing on her face “I am God’s own Lamb! My purity is unquestionable! How dare you even… even THINK about something disgusting like that!” stuttered, trying to find words that were not vulgar as two, white angel wings sprouted from behind her, shining in a blinding, golden aura.
“Really?” covered her eyes Hiyori, feeling them sting and hurt, directing her question at Everlong instead. Her tone was one part surprised, one part happy and one part dubious.
“True.” nodded the man in question, unbothered by the strong light, the sweet scent coming from Sylial and the fact they started hearing distant bells ringing with a pleasant chime. “She just wants the recognition and promotion that would come from acquiring my soul and bringing it into heaven when I die. None like me have ever redeemed themselves.”
“She wants to kill you?” asked Hiyori again, coming to her own conclusion going by his words, landing a hammering blow at the heart of the angel before them.

“How did you even come to THAT conclusion?!” screamed Sylial, pointing a trembling finger at Hiyori.
“It sounded like that… ugh, can’t you turn yourself off or something? It’s blinding me! I feel like a deer on the highway at midnight!”
“Ugh… what… a peculiar human… tsk…” grumbled Sylial, redrawing her wings and the unnatural phenomena following it. “No wonder you fell into the clutches and servitude of a soul, claimed by Hell!” murmured, stealing glances at her and Everlong. “An angel thinking about ending a life? Blasphemous!”
“Thanks…” rubbed her watery eyes Hiyori, gulping back her own words, halting herself from bringing up events from the Bible. It also helped masking her real, curious expression as she was gaining a lot of background information of Everlong she probably would be too afraid to ask by herself.
“Look, she was on the verge of falling victim to a gestating demon!” looked into Sylial’s eyes Everlong “Sheby was the one who helped us get rid of it. It was her payment!” explained, opening his arms. “I gladly gave it to her because I know how demons work! The one attached to Hiyori was another’s little plaything. I may be a bad person, but at least I have my principles and won’t repay a helping hand with backstabbing.”
“Lawful Evil?” joked Sylial and it was evident that it completely went over Everlong’s head, making Hiyori chuckle even more. “Your guess was right, because the one who came for her was a Trespasser.” added with a more serious tone after the soft laugh of Hiyori’s has died down.
“Not an Invader?” raised his eyebrows Everlong, his own smile slowly receding.
“It was only trespassing.” said again while Hiyori just blinked, trying to figure it out by herself, without much success.
“I see… Were you able to identify the branch?”
“That is why I am here!” quipped back Sylial angrily “We couldn’t! It was quick, efficient and I only noticed that a Trespasser had come to this plane of existence because my coin was with that goat demon of yours! If she didn't have it, she would be already dead! Whoever came to probe her, got everything out from her, casting the rest aside like a crumpled up newspaper! It had to know the effect of the coin and that the maker of it would arrive soon! So… whoever it was, was not a small timer!” explained calmly but with a serious tone “Everlong, we need to know which branch is after you this time! You have too many enemies to keep count of!”
“Tell me about it!” chuckled the man, taking out a cigarette but as soon as he was about to lit it up, Sylial just snapped her fingers, extinguishing Everlong’s match.
“It is bad for your health.” said with a kind smile but then she couldn’t help it but shook.
“Really now?” cut in Hiyori with a smirk, taking out her own lighter, lighting it up for Everlong who just rubbed her head as a thanks. “This is my home, he is allowed to smoke if he wants! Plus as far as I know he has unlimited time on this earth!”
“It just shows that you know nothing yet!” sighed Sylial, not arguing with Hiyori “Maxy…” spoke again, making Everlong cough as he was just inhaling from it when he heard her “You gave my coin to her because you wanted our side to get involved, I know your modus operandi! Even if a lot of the higher ups are not interested in dealing with demons, risking another conflict with the Fallen, some of us are not afraid! So, who are we dealing with? Give me something I can work with!”
“Should be a minion of Leviathan.” answered when the coughing finally stopped, not that he was really hiding it, he was only trying to get out everything from Sylial first.
“The Prince of Pride, huh?” straightened her body, crossing her arms under her ample breasts, biting into her lips. “I’ll get the info back to the others! We are going to investigate it and pay close attention to all happenings in the region! Something like this heavily affects the other Asylum seekers, we need to show our own strength! We were tasked with the duty of keeping The Balance!”
“See? I just wanted to cooperate yet you came at me with the ‘Why did you give it away’, huh?” grinned Everlong.
“You were deserving of a little scolding because of the shtick you just pulled! Call me if something happens again!” pulled out a business card from between her breasts, placing it on the counter. It only had an angel wing with a phone number on it.
“Sure.” nodded everlong, taking it and sliding it into his back pocket while the blonde woman just smiled at both of them before leaving.
“I know!” said Everlong, taking out a second cigarette, stopping Hiyori before she would rain down questions on him. “Let’s go to the balcony and I'll answer your questions!” shook his head, rubbing her head while with the other he was searching for a lighter in his other pocket.
