When they parked down, near the apartment complex where Sheby lived, it was already deep into the night. Getting out of the cars, Frederick was silent, but his green eyes were focused on Everlong, ignoring Hiyori completely. He was clearly twitching to go, only holding back because of his mission and the frustrating, silent ride besides Sylial.

“I’ll go and speak with her, arrange our meeting.” lit up a cigarette Everlong.

“I’m going too.” stepped forward Frederick with a challenging voice.

“No you don’t.” answered Sylial, instead of Everlong “That place is filled with demons. You have already been sanctioned by both your Order and by Us!” pushed him back with her slender fingers, placing it on Frederick’s chest, looking up at him with a cold glint in her eyes. “Too many demons’ blood is on your hands!”

“Hearing this coming from the mouth of a servant of His is the most hypocritical thing I have ever heard!” smirked Frederick, not backing down.

“It was His benevolent decision to allow them to seek redemption by living amongst humans! Those who get granted His pardon, His second chance at proving they are willing to return to His light, are under His protection! We are obliged to defend those who wish to be embraced by him, no matter their origin! Be happy that you still have your head on your shoulders, Frederick! If not for your Master, you would have been eliminated a long time ago…” warned with a monotone and chilling voice, shutting even Frederick up.

“Heh~” chuckled Everlong, blowing out a thick cloud of smoke “I’ll be quick, stay here until then!” nodded at them, patting Hiyori’s back before leaving.

As they were waiting, Hiyori decided to also light up a cigarette, but as soon as she did, she heard a snort coming from Frederick’s side. He was leaning against the wall with crossed arms, partly looking outwards, watching the house-block that Everlong walked in and partly keeping an eye on his little “protege”.

“If you have a problem, speak.” answered Hiyori, showing no fear towards him “I’m all ears for constructive criticisms!”

“Were you always this shallow, to imitate him? Or you just degraded that much from an individual?” asked, not waiting for an answer. “You stand like him, speak like him and smoke like him. My stomach turns from just looking at you! Such an obvious little bitch in heat!”

“...” Hiyori remained silent, only taking a drag, watching his face with slanted eyes, containing her rising anger as much as she could. Sylial also remained silent, clearly ignoring the two, leaning against her car with closed eyes and an expressionless face.

“I bet he humps you like the dog he is and only feels finally adequate enough! No wonder he chose such a shorty for a fucktoy!” smirked at her Frederick.

“From all of us, it is only you who brings something like that up, again and again… boy.” answered Hiyori with a long breath blowing out smoke from between her lips, looking at him, her eyes going up and down on his body “The loudest person shows most of his own insecurities.” closed her eyes, uttering it with disgust laced within her words.

“You…!” grunted, flinching while Sylial drew a small smile on her face but remained silent.

“If you are trying to intimidate me, then just don’t.” shook her head Hiyori, continuing “It won’t work.”

“Yeah, just hide behind him, like a good little girl you are!” scoffed Frederick back at Hiyori.

“I am.” smiled Hiyori widely “I am a girl, I am little and I am hiding behind him! So what? Bite me!” laughed, raising up her left hand with her middle finger stretched upwards.

“...” Frederick’s hand flinched but in the end nothing happened, mostly because Sylial’s eyes opened, looking at him, restraining the wild Sigil Bearer.

The next few minutes went in complete silence, before it was broken by his voice.

“He is out.” watched him Frederick, coming back but without Sheby.

“I got the coordinates.” said Everlong, arriving, looking at them “She, and I mean Jibil, already set up a connection to our world. Its focus point is underground, in the stormwater drainage system.”

“Is she not coming?” asked Sylial, directing a quick look at the apartment building.

“She would only be a liability and also, she is extremely weak.” replied Everlong “I made her contact Jibil, confirmed everything, that is enough. Jibil is being pursued so when she makes the transference, it is highly possible she is going to be followed by another demon.”

“Good. I’m here to kill and collect the price of her Asylum for my Order.” spoke up Frederick “Everything else is not my problem! You can deal with it yourselves! Tell me the coordinates.”

“Nope.” grinned Everlong “I don’t think I will! You all are coming with me! If I tell you where it is going to be, both of you would go and do your own thing! I’m not stupid!” rolled his eyes, looking at the two while Hiyori just stood behind him “hiding” and grinning at Frederick.

“I wouldn’t mind that…” added Hiyori, drawing eyes to herself but she ignored them.

In the end they had no other choice but to follow Everlong as they went down into a nearby subway and from then on it did not take long and they were already descending down into the deep manmade labyrinth under the city. Everlong took up the front, walking before Frederick, showing that he was not afraid to expose his own back to the Sigil Bearer. Not that he had a chance to do anything as behind him walked Sylial, keeping her eyes strictly at him, barely blinking. While walking down a 30 meters tall, metal staircase, Hiyori was floored by what she was seeing. She never even knew something like this was built under their feet, a completely different world, something out of a fantasy book! The huge, concrete pillars, the wet ground, glistening in the light of the lamps around the monstrous, round obelisks, the multiple, loud echoes of their steps as they were coming down, everything was mesmerizing.

“It looks like the mines from the Master of the Rings!” said, unable to hold back her thoughts.

“Never saw it, we should put it on our list!” replied Everlong with an interested voice.

“Sure, they are one of the best movies ever made! It is a trilogy, you know!” nodded Hiyori repeatedly, already deciding it is going to be the best movie night, watching all three of their extended versions!

Whatever happens, always remain calm. No matter what you see or hear. Okay?” arrived Everlong’s voice and it was as if he spoke directly into her mind, startling Hiyori greatly. “I’m speaking to you through the bracelet.” explained quickly, looking back over his shoulder, calming her down with his eyes “Just think of the answer, I’ll hear it.

Oh… o-okay! Geez, you could’ve warned me! I almost had a heart attack!”

Sorry, slipped my mind~

Hmf, you just wanted to see me react to it!” snorted, knowing him well enough by now. “Pretty neat! But… Why did you say that?

I am 90% sure this is a trap. I watched Sheby contact Jibil and saw the symbol appearing on her palm. I never saw it before but I recognized the faint fluctuations it gave out.” explained calmly as they climbed down to the bottom level, starting to walk forward, going past the giant pillars, really looking like a ragtag group of adventurers in some kind of fantasy movie. “Whatever happens, remain calm and focus on protecting yourself.” said it, now loudly and directly, turning towards Hiyori and giving her a small dagger, seemingly made out of a polished, white bone, carved out in one go, forming a unified body.

“That is!” flinched Frederick, clearly recognizing it.

“Lichbane!” spoke up Sylial too with a surprise.

“Is it made from the bones of a lich?” asked Hiyori, watching it interestedly, waiting for an answer from Everlong, ignoring the other two.

“No.” answered Sylial while Everlong just smiled “It is made from the bone of a Saint, from someone who lived more than a thousand years ago! He was a warrior of His and after his death, his blessed body was made into various weapons by his disciples! The Lichbane was one of those artifacts. I thought it was lost to time, I did not expect it to be in your hands!” turned her eyes towards Everlong.

“A lucky find!” shrugged Everlong, not explaining it while Hiyori just kept holding it in her hand, ready to use it anytime if it came to that.

“Who knows what else he hoarded to himself, hidden in that office of his!” scoffed Frederick. “After he dies, my Order is going to reclaim a lot of their stolen things from his goblin lair!”

“I have an empty slot, fitting for a short staff.” answered Everlong, not even looking back, already focusing on the weirdly dark and dim part they were nearing, appearing ahead of them. “Maybe after this, I’ll fill it up.”
