Adam Blake has everything.
Being born as the youngest son of a family that owned one of the biggest conglomerates in the country, there was nothing he couldn’t have.
His father's position gave him an unrivaled social status, while his mother's genes bestowed him with looks that drew admiration wherever he went. Not to mention, his parents’ pampering, resulting from their guilt of working all the time, allowed him to squander money as much as he liked.
That’s why, over the years, Adam grew lazy and arrogant. He never had to work for anything, making him see others as inferior.
The only person he respected and admired was his aunt. Although he rarely saw her, she never treated him like anything special. Rather, it was an expression of indifference that met his eyes, letting him feel the difference for the first time.
The hierarchy of the strong.
Those who are true powerhouses don’t care about people like him who are born lucky. For them, achievements are the only thing that matters.
Back then, he wanted to be just like her but he wasn’t ready to put in the work. After all, why suffer meaninglessly if he can just rely on his family background?
Time passed by like that but his attitude only worsened
Until he suddenly changed overnight.
After turning 10 years old, Adam started to take his studies seriously, stop throwing tantrums and show off his status and wealth. He became more reserved and polite, making the people who knew him confused.
At first, the couldn’t believe what was happening but gradually accepted the fact that he seemingly matured and made up his mind.
Adam, on the contrary, knew the truth.
He didn’t change because of some nonsense feeling on the spur of the moment but rather because of one very important secret.
Adam Blake was a transmigrator.
That’s right. He suddenly remembered his past life as a college student after hitting his head against a cupboard one day. Although he only retained a few memories, it was enough for his personality to undergo a drastic change.
However, this was not the only reason.
It’s because he came to know that the world he lived in was based on an urban novel he read in his past life named ‘City of Giants’.
The setting of said novel was rather standard for its genre.
It followed the usual cliche where the protagonist, known as a war hero in the military, came back to the city where he becomes involved in the desperate power struggle of the people sitting at the top.
It wasn’t really the most original story but the close attention to detail and elaborate plot made it an enjoyable experience. Not to forget, the unique characters that follow and oppose the protagonist through his journey of political intrigue and schemes.
One of those characters was the infamous Adam Blake, a first-class villain.
Exactly.
The same person he transmigrated into and he’s been living as before the fusion. Himself.
At that moment, Adam knew that he was fucked. Although it would still take years until he was an adult for the protagonist to appear, he knew the odds weren’t in his favor.
The setting of the novel takes place in Solaris, a gigantic metropolis with countless powerful families and clans fighting for supremacy. In such an environment, the protagonist wasn’t even needed for him to die. It was just as dangerous without him.
Naturally, this left Adam with only one option. He needed to prepare. A lot.
Raising his skills to compete against the monsters in the city and avoid pitfalls that would bring him to ruin. Luckily, he had the knowledge from the novel and got the perfect way to accomplish this.
Snatching a few of the protagonist’s opportunities for himself. That guy was already buffed enough, so Adam thought he wouldn’t mind if he took a few.
With that intention, he carefully navigated around, trying to find out information that might be useful. He also asked his father for a martial arts master to learn from the ground up and strengthen himself.
Adam’s wishes were soon fulfilled when he came across another problem.
“Strange.”
A problem that might influence all his plans.
“Why is it different?”

After trying to find out information about the people he needed to be aware of, he found certain discrepancies with the plot of the novel he remembered.
“Victoria Hawkes is still alive… and the Crocell family experienced a purge. The chaos erupted earlier than it should have. Will this influence Jade’s transformation?” He mumbled as his mind worked in overdrive.
He didn’t know where this butterfly effect came from and how it became so big. However, it was clear that his knowledge from the novel wasn’t almighty.
He needed to act fast.
Adam spent the first two years after his transmigration raising his skills to the bare minimum until he decided he was ready. He preferred to spend more time on it but he knew there was no time.
After all, regarding the first plan that he had in mind, the window was only closing further with each passing day.
Fixing his appearance, Adam made his way through the large mansion. It was a large complex full of personnel to maintain it. Sometimes, he still felt uncomfortable with it due to the memory fusion but it didn’t show on his face.
The size of the mansion and personnel were all part of the image management of the Blake family, showing that their wealth and influence weren’t just a flaunt.
Around ten minutes later, Adam arrived in front of a wooden door in the main complex of the mansion. He didn’t even need to knock as the door was already being opened from the inside.
“Adam, I already heard that you’re coming to see me. What a rare occurrence. How is your training with Master Creed going?”
His father, Henry Blake, asked excitedly with a smile. It was a side of him he only showed to his family while everyone else received a mask crafted for business.
“It’s good. I awakened inner force a while back and stabilized it three weeks ago.”
“That’s great. Awakening inner force before the age of 20 is already said to be in the realm of geniuses. It seems exchanging that favor was truly worth it…” His father continued his praises as he nodded his head.
Adam could understand his father’s happiness since his most troublesome kid finally got an accomplishment but he wasn’t here for that.
“Father, I was planning to go out this afternoon.”
Listening to his question, his father was confused.
“You want to go out? Where?”
Where.
Now, that was quite a difficult question to answer.
He was planning to go to the northern slums where his agenda was located.
The Silent Butchers.
A small and inconspicuous criminal gang that would later go on to be one of the protagonist’s greatest backers and resource providers. In spite of appearing unremarkable at first, Adam knew of the mayhem they would cause later on. That’s why he decided to get rid of such a threat first.
Their strength at the time of the novel was incomparable to the current him but they weren’t always like that. Right now, they were still growing and relatively weak, giving him a chance.
Of course, he couldn’t tell his father that.
“I wanted to see the poorer areas in the northern part of the city to see if there is an opportunity to do business. After all, I would like to build something for myself.”
Henry looked at his son with a surprised gaze. He knew that Adam matured a lot but to think it was this much. He didn’t really believe all of what he heard but he decided to let him do his thing for now.
“Alright. I will ask a team to escort you-”
“I would prefer a more low-key getup. The attention is sickening.”
“Right… I will let Zavier accompany you. Then you won’t be noticed by many people.” Henry replied after much thought.
Adam simply nodded his head.
He heard that Zavier was the vice-captain of the 3rd bodyguard squad. His strength was at the peak of inner shell with half a step into outer manifestation.
Such a person will be useful, that’s for sure.
