Chapter 3: Chapter 02 – Surviving A Sabotage

The Transporter Beam, is the pinnacle of the transportation transportation technology created by mankind. As it had allowed everyone, both rich and poor to travel in a safer and cheaper method. Permitting people to arrive to their destination in a very short time, it has created a trove a opportunities for people to connect and keep in touch always.

Like in any other strive of conflict, the transporter facilities are always a main target for terrorism, where attempts of destruction and sabotage are often made to strike fear into the hearts of the populace. This had made the evolution of the technology necessary to provide a journey which are free from such threat.

Cedric Waters is a talented computer systems designer who have been working with the transporter system industry for years. With the passion to loving to see people able to meet each other again, he had decided to take up this job in ensuring that people who are travelling will be able to meet their love ones again safe and sound.

The job that Cedric choose often brought him to many parts of the Solar System, where he is often contracted to the various works related to the computer system which manages the transporter system. Security, power management and data management, you name it and he will get it done with perfection. Most of the time, it would be either updating the existing system in a location or installing the computer system in a new transporter hub.

With his travels, he made many friends and competitors. These interactions allowed him to learn many things and enriched him, but it soon take fateful turn as one day, he soon learn of a conspiracy among those who had vested interest in power towards the transporter services.

Participating in the latest project in his line of work in Doran Orbital Industrial Colony which is orbiting around Venus, he stumble upon several abnormalities which are present in the computer systems that are managing the transporter systems there while checking the system remotely from his quarters. His attempts to query those issues failed, leading him to suspect that there are some parties that are withholding information from his knowledge.

Like any other regular computer systems designer, hacking is their second nature, as one needs to be well versed in computer commands and languages to perform such feat. As he had gone trough some experience related with his hacker hobby when he was young, Cedric know the risks and consequences that are coming along with his choices. But he can't help but do it, as feelings of curiosity overwhelms him.

Penetrating through all the firewalls and and security barriers of the data matrix that he is trying to access, Cedric soon found what he has been looking for. Reading through all the documentations, to his horror, it is all records and information of a planned terror attack to a major transporter hub in Earth. Realizing that it is solid evidence of a planned conspiracy, he made copies of the files and prepared to his escape in realization that the owners of the files will be going after his life.

As he is packing up all the essential stuffs that he can carry, an alarm was tripped at his computer, indicating that a tracer virus had manage to locate him. Although he has the skills to neutralize the virus, this action is unnecessary as the virus had already informed his location to its users. Instead, Cedric chooses to plant a logic bomb into the transporter hub that he will be using as his exit from the colony.

Several figures who are armed with weapons soon burst into his residence, but they find that it is already have been abandoned by him. They have concluded that he has left for the transportation hub and have informed their superior of his departure. Two shady figures discussed of their actions on how to bring him to custody, where the first one citing that they should inform their associates to be on alert to bring him into their custody, while the other prefer to kill him while he is travelling through the transporter hub, keeping the incident low profile which the first one soon agreed. Both are unaware that Cedric had already made plans for his escape.

Years of experience working with the transporter network authorities had made Cedric aware of their mode of operation, where there is once these people had arrested several criminals who attempted to flee from Earth for a high profile murder. He knew that they will be waiting to put him under arrest there. But what they didn't know is he has an escape plan planned way earlier than they have anticipated it.

Cedric had a double life, where he lives with another identity who is his alter ego. Flora Snowman, age 17 years old, was the name of his female alter ego. With the advancement of technology, he is able to live Flora's life in the virtual world in the cosmic social media. With his hacking skills, he had even created a real life identity of Flora for his own very pleasure. What never came through his mind, is he will be finally living as her in real life instead of the virtual one.

Entering the hub, security cameras soon spotted him among the crowd of people there. It alerted those people who are looking for him, perceiving that they had him in their hands, they put their plan into action, where they will erase him while he is in transit to the destination of his choice. By doing that, he will not be able to materialize, resulting him to cease to exist in the universe anymore. Little do they know that there is a logic bomb waiting for them, which is planted by Cedric.

The moment Cedric dematerialize in the transporter hub in Doran, these villains sprung into action. With the system under their control, they erased the data matrix which is transporting Cedric to the location of his choice, which is Earth. This triggered the logic bomb into action, where a new data matrix will be created which will be transporting Flora Snowman. It is set to hold him in suspension for a moment before delivering him to his intended destination after the delayed period of waiting along with the evidence that he had gathered.

Those baddies celebrated their success in eliminating the threat to their plans, not knowing that they have been fooled by him. After 6 hours in suspension, the system soon deliver Flora Snowman to her intended destination, that is Zero Island which is an artificial island located at 0 Longitude and Latitude in Earth, the capital of the Earth Federation. Emerging in his new form which is now a model like college girl, she sets off to the Whistle Blower Department of the government office in Zero Island. Posing as a person who had received an anonymous lead of a conspiracy, she will report this matter to them along with the evidence she had gathered earlier.

The authorities initially dismissed her report as a hoax, but as the information soon spread widely by the logic bomb she had planted during her exodus earlier as a man. They are forced to move into action to prevent a major panic and unrest among the citizens of the federation. It will take a while for them to bring those bad guys to justice, but at least they are not on her tail, as their priority is to escape from justice now.

Flora may not be able to return back to her old job anymore for fearing her new identity will be discovered by her pursuers. But she is at least safe now, living a new life of her choice. Moving on with her new job which is an artificial intelligence designer, she soon become a celebrity designer with various fashionable artificial intelligence with each has a unique character of their own.
