Shuffled footsteps sounded through a dreadful cave.
A figure masked in the shadows of the lifeless flames cast by dreary torches continued onwards.
Each unstable footstep sunk into the muddy floor and stopped for a second, trying to keep upright, before progressing onwards.
The figure's blurry vision was waning as the flickering lights splashed his vision, turning the dreary cave into what looked to be a starry-filled sky.
Shuff
Shuff
Shuff
Step by step, he progressed, yet as he did so, he wobbled more and more, his vision dimmed and blurred; alas, he muttered to himself, 'gotta... stay... up. T-tournament, almost there.'
Yet, as time went on and his destination was closer within reach, his aching body began to sputter and groan.
Sounds of cracking and popping rang out as the adrenaline that had previously overflowed through his body had all but completely diminished, leaving him to grit his teeth as the looming feeling of overwhelming pain was soon approaching.
'Damnit! Almost... there...'
The figure peeled his eyes, a golden glimmer sparkling underneath his pitch-black optics.
Yet, that glimmer began to fade as his consciousness began to crumble.
The front of his head felt as if a hammer was pounding from inside.
Bleughh
The figure stopped and hurled out a stream of red vomit pouring out his mouth for around 5 seconds.
Finally, as the vomiting stopped, he stood there, still hunched over, his eyes beamed forward once more.
Letting out rasp coughs, he wiped his mouth and continued on.
Shuff
Shuff
Shuff
Yet, as he wobbled along, an alarm went off as the sound of approaching footsteps filled his ears.
Tap
Tap
Tap
'Hmm,' the figure frowned to himself.
The surrounding torches cast a glimmer on his ebony skin, yet was far too faint to reveal the figure lurking beyond the dark shroud.
The figure slowly lowered himself into a fighting stance, gritting his teeth and fighting against his body's wails for rest.
There would be only rest if he did so here.
So, with blurred vision that could barely see an arm's length in front of him and a consciousness that was teetering on the edge of collapse, the boy stood there, readied in a fighting stance.
Yet, his brain had other plans, as before he had even realized it, whether he had faded out or his senses had dulled too much.
He now felt something, arms wrapped around him, and a moist warmth dribbled onto his neck.
Drip
Drip
A voice whispered into his ear, "Oz, I'm so glad you're safe."
The figure, Oz, strained his eyes and looked to see Zee in front of him, blood coated on the seemingly innocent boy who could never hurt a fly in front of him.
Even with his brain on the verge of collapse, he could put 2 and 2 together of what happened, as Oz cracked a toothy smile and responded, "likewise."
And with that, he collapsed onto his friend's shoulder.

Shaking.
Under the brilliant blue sky, the ground shook, and even the air itself seemed to quake with uncontainable energy.
Down below, roars of cheers and excitement had brewed up within a massive colosseum that soared into the sky.
It was filled to the brim with people and overcrowded with even people from other towns who came here to watch this exciting day.
With all seats filled, some were even sitting on each other's lap or standing on the stairs just to watch this spectacle that was about to occur.
The cause of these cheers?
A man with shades and a full-piece green suit with a green cape over it had walked up to the gigantic square stage in the middle.
A bright smile was on his face as he walked towards the center.
The man's green hair was neatly combed forward, with a spiky, eccentric look.
The cheers grew louder and louder as he reached the middle.
His shaded smile looked around, having to crane his neck upwards just to see the very top row and nodding his head at the impressive head count before he opened his mouth, "ARE YOU READDYYYY?!"
His voice boomed through the air as the gust of his voice breezed throughout the entire stadium, nearly blowing the audience away and causing the shaking air to jitter even more fervently.
WOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!
The crowd's overwhelming response was proof of their excitement, and so with a bright smile, the announcer called out once more, "AREEEEEEE YOUUUUUUUUUU READAYYYYYYYYYY??!"
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
The crowd shouted even louder this time, causing the visible ripples to zoom through the air and the stadium below to quake.
"Heheh" the announcer chuckled to himself as he contorted his body into a dramatic pose, pointing into the sky, "THEN LETSSS GET THIS PARTY STARTEEEEEEDDD!!!"

WOOOOOOOOOHHH!!!!
With that, a series of performers consisting of dancers, singers, and carnival-type acts came onto the stage, a wholesome preliminary to bloody competition that would soon commence.

As faint cheers echoed from below.
From above, in a medium-sized room with one-way windows 360, around were 2 figures.
One of which was an old man with a long white beard and a pristine white robe with strips of green.
He stood looking out the window, his back to the plump armored man behind him.
The room's unearthly splendor was clouded by a grim undertone.
"So..." the old man's stern, raspy voice called out, "any update from the infirmary?"
The armored plump man who was sweating profusely on the couch stuttered, "U-da-the-um-"
The old man shot an annoyed glance at the plump man, causing him to shut up and gulp.
Finally, he opened his mouth to speak once more, "He's... alive b..."
The old man caught this as he questioned, "but?"
The plump man gulped, "but... there may be some health complications?"
A suffocating aura enshrouded the room as the old man's green eyes pierced into the plump man, "complications?"
"Th-um-it," the plump man could barely form a sentence as he squirmed in the luxurious seat, hit oily behind was sunk in.
Yet, the old man would not let this bumbling fool finish as he cut him off, "Silence," the plump man shut his mouth as the old man continued whilst he turned to face the window once more.
"Let the child receive the best service possible. I very much want to see how he will perform in this tournament." The old man spoke with his arms crossed behind his back, watching the cheering crowds from below.
However, the plump man squirmed in his seat before he questioned, "w-what about his friend?"
"Hmm, the old man stroked his long beard with his left hand, "Him too. I have a feeling the pair may offer us an interesting performance."
