I had been found. The wolf who noticed me was looking straight at me, and the others followed suit. “You there! We can see you! You better get your ass out here and explain yourself before I have to come over there!” The shouting woke Shiro up from his nap, and he yawned as he looked up at me. “What should we do, Shiro?” Shiro only tilted his head in response. I guessed I could just run away, but I supposed this was an opportunity. I made my way towards them, but as I got closer all of their eyes widened except for the youngest. The elderly wolf with the pipe started to stammer out words.

“B-by the gods! This shouldn’t be possible! It has to be an illusion!” The youngest looked at the elder wolf in confusion. “Why does everyone look like a statue?” As he asked the wolf who yelled at me to come out slapped the back of his head. “You fool! Can’t you see!? She is a snow fox! No more likely an imposter, but…” Suddenly he looked towards me. “Stop right there!” I obeyed the command as I stopped walking a few meters away from them.

“Let me handle this.” The old wolf said. “Why should we do that? We are supposed to be protecting you 3.” The other wolf in plate armor said. “Look in her arms, she tames a fox spirit. There can be no doubt.” I was getting slightly annoyed by the fact they just kept on like I wasn’t standing in front of them. The old wolf didn’t take no for an answer and strolled up in front of me. The others just remained in place.

“Can you understand our tongue? No of course you can, otherwise you wouldn’t have listened to Yilk. How do you even exist?” I wasn’t sure how to respond to the question. “I was born, and now I am alive.” Yes! Nailed it. “No, you shouldn’t even exist. The snow foxes were wiped out hundreds of years ago, and yet here you are. Where did you even come from?”

I turned and pointed back in the direction I came from. “Pretty far in that direction. There was a blizzard, and then a frozen lake. Oh and some old houses.” The youngest wolfkin suddenly jumped in on the conversation. “Old houses!? Did you see a female who looks like us!?” Shiro started to growl at him as he made his way closer.

“Stand down Havel.” The old wolf blocked the young Havel with his arm. Meanwhile I was holding back my laughter. “Ha-ha-havel the rock?” He snarled at me. “Who the hell is a rock!?” The old wolf snarled back at him. “Calm down boy!”

“No! First she won’t answer my question, and then she calls me a rock!” He tried to break free from the old wolf’s grasp, but the wolf held him back with one hand as he used his other hand to take another drag from his pipe. “Listen to me boy. If you piss the fox off it will be all of our heads.” At that point I had enough. I could tell Shiro was getting agitated just as I was.

“Stop! If you keep talking amongst yourselves like I am not here, I will freeze your balls off and make them into sausages. Then I will promptly feed them to Shiro. None of you have even given me your names, and you haven’t asked for my name either. You are just saying snow fox this and snow fox that. Well let me tell you what. If you won’t talk to me normally, I am going to go through with my previous suggestion.” Shiro didn’t seem to like the idea of eating sausages made from their privates, and I couldn’t blame him. Really it was just a threat that I would never follow through with, but it seemed to work as they ceased their arguing. Actually it seemed to work too well as they all froze up. None of them dared to open their mouths, and after a bit it started to become awkward.

“I am Misa.” I said after a while. The awkwardness returned, and for a second I thought that I might have accidentally froze them. Eventually the old wolf collected himself. “R-right, I am Wolfric…” I had to contain my laugh once more as he named himself. “This is Havel. The two with the plate armor are Yilk and Yorick respectively. The one in the far back is Artorias.”

“Hahahahaha!” I couldn’t contain my laughter anymore. I looked down at Shiro, and I could tell he was silently judging me. When I looked up all of the wolves were looking at me in confusion. “I am sorry. I don’t know what came over me. Is Artorias an abyss walker?” Artorias suddenly called out from behind the other wolves.

“How do you know that nickname!?” I stared at him deadpan. It couldn’t be real could it? Was he joking? I started laughing so hard I couldn’t stand. I fell to the ground while clutching Shiro. The wolves looked at me with worry in their eyes. “Be careful Wolfric, she might suffer from madness.” I was laughing so hard tears started to come out of my eyes. Suddenly Shiro growled at me before biting me on the cheek.

“Ow! What the hell was that for!?” Shiro turned away from me. I leapt to my feet. I looked down at Shiro, but he wouldn’t even look at me. “Shiro, I am sorry! I will give you a peace offering!” I pulled another sausage out of my inventory. At first he still wouldn’t look at me, but after a bit he couldn’t resist the smell and yanked it out of my hand. I gave him scratches under his chin, and eventually he started to lick my face again.

“Um, Miss Misa?” I had almost forgotten about the wolves as Wolfric Stormcloak spoke up. Actually he could be an imperial. Names could be misleading. “Yes?”

“Is that storage magic?” I nodded my head slowly unsure of why he was asking. Actually I didn’t know if it was storage magic. In the game it was just called inventory, but it was a place to store things. It was also magical, so storage magic was a good thing to call it.

“This may be a selfish request after we have been rude to you, but could you please help us? Once we get back to our village we could reward you…” He was about to get down on his knee. I cringed as I put my hand up to stop him. “I will help you. Just please never attempt to do that again.”
