Chapter 1: Entering DMO

Inside of a white room with a soft bed laid a young man with his face obscured by some sort of helmet. It was linked to a large machine next to his bed. The young man's pale lips were curved into a smile as he quickly tapped a finger.

"Grandma, will I really be able to move?"

A woman in her fifties with black hair and green eyes affectionately held his hand as she spoke.

"Yes, I tested it out myself just earlier. I even had a Duel with that Kaiba guy to test the A.I., naturally I won."

"What was his reaction?"

"Nooo, impossible! The Blue Eyes White Dragon is invincible!" She hammed it up with a grin as she reenacted Seto's movements. His soft laugh was music to her ears.

"Grandma, I don't know how to thank you. You not only made the first full experience VR world, but you made it for me based off a retro card game."

"No worries, Dearie. It was quite fun, and I think people nowadays could use this. I find that 'Dueling' is actually a great way to communicate and spend time with people."

"Ma'am! The system is ready! We're ready to power it on!"

"Excellent Jameson. Alright Dear, it's about to begin." The young man gripped his grandma's hand slightly tighter. The machine started and a loud rumbling sound came about. Soon his consciousness was successfully 'uploaded' into the game. The machine got louder, and the lady frowned. This wasn't supposed to happen. She stood up and was about to walk over to the machine when something unexpected happened. It exploded.

The data was lost, she was injured, but most importantly her precious grandson wouldn't wake up.
