Chapter 1 Altering The Verse!

I inhaled thirstily; damp air flowed through my lungs, causing me to cough.

Pain!

I opened my eyes. The moon stared down at me through the barred opening above me.

I winced as pain coursed through me like an electrical current. My body hurt, but it wasn't anything I want accustomed to. I took a steadying breath as I adjusted to the sensations I was feeling.

I managed to get myself up where I lay. I stumbled forward; memories of a life I haven't lived imparted, only brief snippets. I grimaced. The memories flooded me, out of my control in my head. I had to stop as my new dark world twisted and turned.

I tilted over and relinquished the contents of my stomach.

I stumbled over something and fell into the murky water. I reached around me and felt something give away. A foul odor assaulted my olfactory.

Above me, a ray of moonlight traveled down; I peered at my hands, thick with blood and gore, and I started to scream my anger. Another memory swam from the depth and stopped me from making that mistake.

'What is going on?' I asked inside my head.

'Who am I?' I asked again, staring at the malnourished red-haired youth in the puddle's reflection.

'Oh. This is Naruto. I couldn't recall much of our conversation, and most of my last memories were gone. I remembered the choices and the man that spoke with me.

I managed to move forward over the dead body. I gripped the rails and grudgingly pulled myself up on shaking legs, managing to look around the torch-lit cavernous passage.

I was inside some cage. I was underground. In other jails, there were other people. I realized I was in what seemed like a secret jail.

I shook the rails in anger, barely budging the sturdy bars, sapping what little strength I had.

A door opened. In a walk, a man with bandages around his left eye and two darkly clad individuals trailed him with indifference.

He stopped at each cell and said a few muffled words, and I could barely hear the sounds of whimpering. He smiled and motioned for the man to unlock the jail.

Standing outside the cell was a malnourished boy. He did something with his hands, and another man appeared in a cloud of smoke and took the child away.

This continued, but only two more children were let out. My cell was next. I didn't budge when the familiar man's eye landed on me; I could see glee and hatred in his single eye.

I suddenly took a few steps back as his shadow fell over me. He loomed over me, his singular eye scrutinizing me. He looked so familiar.

'What was his name?' I could vaguely remember it, but I doubted its validity.

"Naruto Uzumaki." He said.

'Danzō!' I shouted inside my head. My memories roiled inside of me, and dread filled my veins, and the last few days came into clarification.

'Reincarnation... Wait. I had transmigrated into the body of Naruto. I'm Ashton?! No. I'm not Ashton. But I'm no longer Naruto either; who should I be? My head hurt; these thoughts pained me deeply.

I can't be who I was, nor can I be who I am now. I possibly must become something else. My inner turmoil concluded with a snap of my decision; memories of both lives seemly settled. Only seconds passed in the real world as my mind whirled awake.

Even though I was in pain, I righted myself and stared at the man who had locked me down for the past six months.

Anger flared as I remembered the villagers beating me, my protectors silently watching in the shadows, angered at the Hokage for sending me to my demise because he was told what to do for the betterment of the village. Neither of them mentioned the sacrifice of my father and mother! Danzo concluded I couldn't be a traditional shinobi because of the hate the village had for me because of the Nine-Tails.

Bastards!

Ungrateful mother fuckers! I seethed as I stared through the bars.

If I couldn't be used visibly, then I could be wielded as a deterrent, a simple-minded beast.

My anger multiplied as I remembered Naruto being forced to consume the flesh of the man brought into the jail because he was hungry and already broken from years of abuse. As my anger rose to the sky, I smiled because I was no longer that guy. I looked my jailer straight in the eye, and I grinned.

His jaw clenched, but you could see it under the moonlight; his brow rose in surprise.

"Is that fire in your eyes?" He said, chuckling.

"How pitiful that such a thing possesses the will of fire. Nevertheless, your fate belongs to me, and you will mind your anger and bow to your betters, you filthy beast. You will become root; you will become my tool. Once that has happened, and I assure you it will."

"I have broke shinobi with ten times the resolve to resist far greater than that tiny flame in your eyes." He sneered.

"You will-"

I cut him off. "I'm going to kill you and destroy that despicable village!" I said hoarsely.

He and his root anbu postures stiffened at my declaration. Long gone was the servile boy who begged and pleaded.

"I was wrong. That's not the will of fire." He had a look of contemplation.

"Hold to your hate and dream of revenge. Because only in your imagination will they come to fruition. I Pity your father and mother; they were fools to believe the village would honor their wishes after their passing. Haha. He leered, hoping for a glimmer of despair as he deposited the valuable information.

I didn't show a sign of concern in his eyes, and I already knew what happened to Naruto's parents; his eyes roamed toward the bandaged eye of Danzo.

Startled at the child's glower, his anger and displeasure flared across his aged face.

"Scum of the Uzumaki! You will remain here another day; once the preparation is completed, we will start the unsealing and subsequent withdrawal of the kyubi; afterward, you will join root and be available, so the useless council and weak-willed Hokage won't suspect the demon has been removed."

"As much as I like this fierce fire that has shown itself in your eyes, root has no use for emotions, and you will do as I order. Enjoy your night; tomorrow evening, I'll send for you, can't wait to see the smoldered embers of your eyes afterward," He said, smiling at the child.

"It doesn't matter. I will kill you and scatter your plans to the wind." I whispered through the bars of the cage.

Danzō squinted. "I grow tired of you." He raised his hand, and I felt him mold his Chakra.

"Ninjutsu: Blood boil." His cane came through the section of the bars and slammed into my chest.

Umph! Air forced out my lungs, and I flew back. My body grew hot before undesirable pain flared.

My screams into the night kept the remaining prisoners awake. Two more were released after they must've relented after witnessing what could happen.

Hours passed as I lay in the damp jail, squirming and screaming. I passed out eventually.

I woke to the sound of dripping water. Every sensation felt raw, and every breath felt like sandpaper rubbing an open wound. I lay where I was in the murky water and panted.

I closed my eyes briefly, formulating an avenue of escape; what could I even do? I had to ask myself. My choices! That was it. I chose a system and a store to get the most out of my options.

I lay there staring at the moon, trying to figure out how to bring forth the system. I needed to get out of here before his root returned to condition me; I knew exactly what that entailed.

With effort, I slid against the back wall, and suddenly I wanted to slap my forehead.

"Show me my status," I said hoarsely into the cell. Outside I could hear animals of the night scurrying above.

A screen appeared before me. I moved a weak arm through it. Good, I Didn't want anyone to be able to interact with it. I looked at the water's surface, and no reflection of my screen appeared. Even better, it's all in my head.

I had a Chakra rating of B. I felt that was great for my age, and it seems I'm seven or eight, Academy age if I remember correctly.

Clicking on It, I was informed that the B-rating was chunin level. Uzumaki had Unique Chakra and lots of it.

E-Rank shinobi. Information defined it as an Academy brat rank or a fit civilian, but that was because I lacked skills.

My elemental nature was unknown, but I suspected it was at least the same as the anime and manga: wind release and some Water talent. I wasn't too happy about that, but I'm sure the system could remedy that.

It seems the system I requested knew my inner wishes, and I smiled at that. At the moment, I lacked a Dōjutsu.

"System, how do I obtain a Dōjutsu?" I hope this work.

System message: The host can obtain one the standard way in the Narutoverse; the host needs to get the eyes of the person. Host Can purchase from the store bestowed by the wish selected."

I would have to stumble across a Dōjutsu user. That will be hard. I guess the store option is the better way.

"System, how much is a Dōjutsu?"

System message: Dōjutsu price is dependent on the host capability. If the host happened to be an Uchiha, then the cost would be minuscule since the host has the bloodline of the Dōjutsu present.

So my selected wishes seemed perfectly reflected in what I had in mind.

"System, how do I make money?" I asked. But I had suspicion either way.

System message: The host simply needs to request a mission from the system. The requested task is tailored to the host's ability. There are potential Instances that the system would ask/require the host to complete.

As he suspected, he did want some form of a stopgap. He wasn't prepared to have the verse wholly unrecognizable.

System message: The host has been allocated one free platinum token for purchase from the store. One platinum is worth 1,000 Ryo. The host will be granted the standard basic Jutsu package every academy student is taught.

"Firstly, I would like the standard package."

He inspected the Jutsu. He guessed this would be harder than he suspected. The tuxedo entity did tell him to be humble, so maybe this is it. I have access to all the Justus of Naruto. He didn't forget about Bleach. He had seen the section, which was also packed with stuff.

"Bastard didn't expect me to be able to mold chakra." he knew the original didn't know how to without putting too much into it and causing it to fail. He didn't have that problem; he had a fundamental grasp on his deep chakra reserve.

He performed the hand signs for Bunshin, and a copy of him appeared; it had slightly discolored hair. Still, he expelled it and continued performing the Jutsu. He swapped between the other three basic Jutsu and practiced until he had a firm grasp.

The night became day.

He knew they would appear at night again since he was in the Land of Tea. He knew because of the map he had connected to the system. He hoped Danzo didn't come himself; if he did, he could forget about escaping.

He practiced until his efficiency on all three Jutsu was passed 50%. He checked them and was excited to see his previous knowledge of the shinobi world made this ordeal much more effortless.

A few hours later.

"System, Give me a mission!"

Instant Mission: Escape from Root's hidden base in the land of Tea.

Rewards- 10 Bronze Tokens.

Difficulty: E

I exhaled softly. I have a chance. I scanned over my other status. Since I'm in the Narutoverse, everything is reliant on Chakra.

He checked the store, and he quickly checked for Dōjutsu prices. He wasn't sure if he could count that high. He scrolled through the option and landed on the Rinnegan, almost fainting from the price.

He scanned through the options some more. He compiled a package to purchase. Thankful the implied strictures of his wishes were working as he hoped. He wasn't foolish, and this was the cheapest route. He knew the advantages of the Rinnegan. This was the best route he could take.

He decided to get a double dose of the Senju bloodline; going from the anime, Uzumaki and Senju were friends, so having mixed bloodlines were a strong possibility. He also had a distant relation to the Uchiha through the sage of the six paths. He wasn't sure if that was the reason for the price and honestly didn't care; he did like the total, though.

Custom package- Price 700 Tokens.

I selected the package, and a sudden sensation swarmed over me. My screen grew bright red, and I grew hot, but it stopped as suddenly as it came.

System message: Host Package received.

- 700 Tokens.

System message: Host has 300 Tokens remaining.
