“I’m sorry, you wanna run that by me again?” James asked.
Kye gathered James, Allison, and the Atlantis sisters to discuss a few things before the meeting, namely her identity. Layla and Hannah were still with them, too.
“...Kye, I need you to stop with these ridiculous reveals,” Layla said. “I’m starting to lose track of all of it.”
“I thought it was just a story,” James said. “You are talking about the precursor civilization? I... honestly, I don’t think I can believe that right away. That’s just...”
Kye smiled. “It’s fine, James. The ten realms didn’t even exist yet when I began transmigrating. I created them after the fact, so there really shouldn’t be anyway for the realms to know of Athas.”
He sighed. “So, you have all of your memories?”
She nodded. “Do any of you require a demonstration of my creator power? It puts a heavy strain on me right now, but if it’s a smaller demonstration, I can manage. I can’t do anything grand. If I did something like commanding the world to turn on the system again... that would be bad.”
She looked around, but nobody responded. Alethea sensed they were too afraid to ask for a demonstration given the time Kye had just spent in bed. “Love, perhaps... a few minutes of rain?”
“No!” Layla protested.
“Absolutely not!” Hannah added to the protest.
“It’s fine,” Kye said. She led the group outside and held a hand up toward the sky. Her voice echoed. “Elysium, hear me. I am king. Let all who see this sky experience a sunny rain lasting long enough to reveal rainbows.”
Rain fell for several minutes, and when it ceased, everyone could see a rainbow.
“Wow...” James mumbled.
Kye buckled over, causing Layla and Hannah to rush to her instantly. “I’m fine. Just give me a moment. I need to control it.”
“You, of all people, are having trouble controlling mana?” Allison said as she knelled down next to Kye. “I don’t believe that.”
“Well, you’re not wrong. It’s not regular mana, it’s Radiance. My soul has far more than this body can withstand. Unfortunately, my immortal body had atrophied after a few trillion years of inactivity, so it wasn’t any better off.”
“And you did what, exactly?”
“I combined them. More like, I absorbed Kye into me.”
“You say that as though you are a separate entity.”
Kye shook her head. “No, that’s not the case. I split my soul from my body and left myself in Eve’s care. She sent me to the mortal worlds, and those incarnations were my soul inhabiting a mortal body. They were all me, I’m just referring to them that way.”
“So you’re immortal now?”
She shook her head again. “No. Calling them our immortal selves isn’t quite literal. We can die, but we will live forever assuming proper care is taken. Our bodies will not deteriorate like a regular person’s will. Eternal youth is more accurate, I suppose. Only Eve is truly immortal. On that note, in a sense, the royalty of Atlantis has essentially become like us. You’ll live forever assuming the same. But, I digress. Anyway, I have my mana under control. Do any of you have questions before the council meeting?”
“The only one I have,” Atalante said, “is do you wish to resume your role as King?”
“No,” she answered with no hesitation. “Not until I can wield my power unabated, and that will be...” she stopped short and made a sour face. “That won’t be anytime soon.”
“And, now that you have recovered your real body, what of the reason you left her there in the first place?”
Kye narrowed her eyes. “What do you know?”
Atalante swiftly casted a rune spell to silence and deafen everyone, but made herself and Kye exceptions. “I know what Lady Eve has told me. I know of the invasion and your sacrifice.”
“You know quite a lot. You are concerned everything will fall apart without the catalyst - my body - supporting the barrier?”
Atalante nodded. “That’s right. Without that barrier, Lady Eve told us the branch families can invade unhindered.”
“You are not wrong, Lanti. Without that barrier, they can indeed invade Elysium. However, they won’t anytime soon. None of them are that foolish. They’ll seek information first. Send in spies. There is one such pest already here. But it does not matter. We’ll know as soon as a foreign entity enters Elysium. The system is the most powerful world magic ever conceived. It logs everything. It is quite impossible to bypass the system. Even I couldn’t do that in my prime.”
Atalante was skeptical. She was thinking about both the people of Atlantis and the entirety of Elysium. “Then you’re saying it’ll be fine?”
“No. In fact, I would never have recovered my body had I known the consequences. But, it’s too late for that. The barrier is gone, and I can’t recreate it.”
“Perhaps there is another way,” Allison said, earning a look of shock from Kye and Atalante.”
“How are you-?”
“Impressive.” Kye smirked. “What’s your secret? I’ve been wondering for a while. You have far too much mana for a mortal. You’re an ancient, are you not?”
“I am,” Allison said. “In soul only. Like you, I came to the realms through transmigration.”
Kye smiled. “Is that so? So then, who are you? Somebody of your mana capacity would have been rare even in ancient times. I should know who you are, but I don’t recognize your soul.”
“Nor should you.”

Kye stared at her, wanting answers. Allison shook her head and refused a few times, but Kye was persistent. “I’ll find out one way or another.”
Allison sighed. “Fine. I’m a little different. I don’t have a body to go back to.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“...I died in the invasion.”
Kye raised an eyebrow. “The invasion? THE invasion?”
“Yes. The invasion from Lord Adaal.”
“You were one of the lower ranked-?”
“No, I was the Supreme Commander.”
The platinum-blonde froze, her eyes wide.
“I’m sorry, Elysia. I wasn’t enough.”
With shaky hands, Kye touched both of Allison’s cheeks. “Can it be possible?”
Allison closed her eyes and smiled. “My King.” A few stray tears found their way down Kye’s face. She didn’t know if she should smile, frown, or just stare in shock. The Supreme Commander of Elysium at the time was someone very dear to Elysia. With her memories returned, she knew who was standing before her, and she was happy.
“Master Seris.”
Nearby, Alethea was in just as much shock. For eons, Kye and Alethea reigned as King and Queen of Elysium. They still hold those positions, too. None can take their roles so long as their souls exist. As Elysia and Maya, Seris was their teacher.
“I see the return of-” Alethea began.
“No,” Allison said before sighing. “Don’t.” She sighed again. “Look, I’m not the same. We can talk about this privately later.” She turned and started to walk away, but Kye stepped in front of her.
“No.” Kye stared her down. “This is a now conversation.”
“No, it isn’t.”
“YES. IT IS.” The look in her eyes caused Allison to take a step back. It was the first time any of them had seen that sort of look in Kye’s eyes or the shock on Allison’s face. “You cannot just tell me you are my long lost teacher then walk away without-”
“Stop.”
“Answer me.”
The two stood in silence, exchanging glares for several minutes before Allison finally relented. “Fine. I am not the same. When I lost, Lord Adaal tore my soul from my body. You don’t recognize my soul because of the torture he put me through. I’d rather not speak of it. It’s long in the past. Just know I’m not like the Seris Magnis you knew as a child.”
Kye closed her eyes and looked away. The pain she experienced only days prior was the very same. Having one’s soul forcibly separated from one’s body is nothing short of indescribable pain. Kye felt it recently, and once before to end the invasion Elysium would have otherwise lost, when she sealed away her body to create the barrier.
“We can talk more later.”
Kye opened her eyes and nodded. “Okay.” Allison left the room without another word, and Atalante lifted the deafening spell. Kye fell to her knees and Alethea rushed to comfort her. “Maya, she’s... not gone.” The platinum-blonde cried into her pink-haired partner’s chest.
Alethea smiled and held her tightly. “Yes. I remember as though it was yesterday... how much her death pained you, love. I felt that pain, too, though I think you took it harder than anyone else. I’m so happy we know she’s back. I’m so happy for you, love.”
Between tears, Kye struggled out, “But, she says she’s not the same.”
Alethea continued to hold Kye close and rubbed her head. “It’s okay. The important part is that she’s here. Even if she’s different, is Allison really unlike Master Seris? I think they are quite the same.”
Everyone else smiled at the sight. A few filtered out of the room, leaving only Atalante, Layla, and Hannah with the two lovers. The two mothers and grandmother were so happy to see them like that, even though they didn’t hear the conversation. One comforting the other that was crying out of sheer happiness.
Author’s Note: First off, I’m late on chapters! Writing this one was a struggle. I wanted to get it just right, so I took my time on it. The end of Vol2 and start of Vol3 is one big reveal about the world, and I want to be careful about things! The story is always evolving in my head, and the world has become quite grand - at least in my mind!
My second thing to mention is about the rewrite again: I’m taking a step back and saying the “Regarding the rewrite” announcement is no longer set in stone. I am going to think on it a while longer. I’m sorry I’m a flakey writer XD. I’m so moved by the many comments on either side and am super grateful you all like my story well enough to leave such wonderful comments!
My third thing, links and discord: I have a carrd.co, listed in the story description, and a discord server for my both Isekai Elysia and my Vtubing endeavors. My story here is my main thing, of course, but the Vtubing is very enjoyable as well! ^^ I’ll leave the links to both in a comment below. I think you can copy links out of those, though I’m not entirely certain.
THANKS FOR READING!!!
