Chapter 5, Genesis [5]

 

 

A brown cloaked figure appeared from the shadows, with blood-stained knives in their hands. They took off their hood revealing a handsome elf, with luscious, long blond hair. His eyes seemed to be full of anger, which he directed at Kazimir.

 

"Kazimir, Head of the Clan of Chaos..." The elf spoke, his voice echoing ominously around the area.

 

Kazimir stood up straight, crossing his hands behind his back. He sighed loudly, almost mocking the elf, as his wound regenerated. "Ah.. Prince Myriil... How nice it is to see you again!"

 

Suddenly, Kazimir let out a burst of pressure, slamming Krov and Erin to the ground.

 

"Tch.. you know that amount of pressure won't affect me." Myriil said, clicking his tongue.

 

"Oh, I knew that! I just wanted to make sure our spectators would stay spectators..." Kazimir gestured to the struggling Erin and Krov.

 

"Damn you, Kazimir... What are the other Eldrin clans planning to do with the human realm?"

 

"Oh... that wouldn't be fun if I just told you! Why don't you find out for yourself? The humans will get a confidence boost it they have the mighty Elves assisting them! Then... It will be so much more satisfying to watch their world crumble right before them..." Kazimir sadistically smiled, as he headed back towards the rift.

 

"My clan will be back in... Twenty-two human years!"

 

"Damnit! Get back here Kazimir!" Myriil yelled, as he lunged at Kazimir, who disappeared into the rift; which violently closed before Myriil could reach him.

 

"Damnit!" Myriil said, stomping the ground.

 

'Haaa... Haa...' Erin and Krov breathed raggedly as the pressure on their bodies released, recovering from the sudden change.

 

"I apologize... Are you alright humans?" Myriil asked, extending his hands towards Krov and Erin.

 

Taking his hand, he helped them get up. Krov then spoke up, after dusting himself off; "Who, and what are you?" Krov looked at Myriil suspiciously.

 

"I can see where you are having trouble dealing with all of this. I assure you, that you can trust me. Please allow me to introduce myself formally." Myriil said, then bowed to them in an elegant manner.

 

"I am Prince Myriil, of the Elven Kingdom. And I am sure that you already know what I am. Please feel free to ask any questions you have, and I will do my best to answer them."

 

Erin's eyes widened, 'What the hell? a real Elf?'

 

"...Come into my office, I have a lot of questions." Krov said, gesturing to his pop-up office. Myriil nodded, following Krov and Erin.

 

Opening the door, they saw an unconscious Adam sprawled out across the floor. "...I apologize for the clutter..." Krov said, as he quickly checked Adam's pulse; which was fine, into the corner of the room.

 

For an hour, Krov and Erin asked Myriil questions, regarding mana, Ether, and the Eldrins. From what they had learned, Ether was a factor that allowed the being to control Mana. Without Ether, one could not control it, which humans couldn't as Ether didn't exist on Earth. But after the rift opened, Ether forcibly came onto Earth, instilling itself within humans.

That was what allowed Erin and Krov to barely speak, while they were under the pressure of Kazimir. And eventually, an ability called, Ether Sight would be able to be used, which allowed them to open up a status-like screen, which displayed their ranks. There were also Boons, that was almost like skills in a video game.

 

Along with Boons, which can only be learned by beings with Ether Sight, were Weapon Arts. Weapon Arts are styles of combat, that had movements the user would learn over time, allowing them to use stronger attacks; better than just swinging a sword with just your strength. Unlike Boons, Weapon Arts could be shared, allowing the owner to use Ether to materialize a book, which would then ingrain the art in the mind of the receiver.

 

Of course, there was magic, which was made possible by manipulating different mana particles.

 

After gaining all of this information, Erin's eyes lit up with excitement, as he became increasingly impatient, as he wasn't able to use Ether Sight yet.

 

"Alright Krov, I gotta head back. Inform me of the situation with the Elves once you two finish your meeting with the Union President." Erin said, waving goodbye to the two.

 

"Wai--" Krov yelled, though Erin slammed the door before he could complain. 

 

'S--Shit...' Erin gasped, as he checked the time on his phone; It was an hour past dinner... He bit his fingernails as he imagined Fei brutally stabbing him to death. He sighed while gripping his chest in fear.

 

'Twenty-two years... That was all the time they had to grow stronger...' Erin thought, clenching his fists tightly while walking towards the hotel entrance.

 

"H--Hey Fei dear... Im home?" Erin said, while closing the door behind him.

Woosh!

Clunk!

"Holly S--Shit!" Erin yelped, as a chef knife flew past his face, sticking into the wooden door.

 

"One hour, past dinner..." Fei grumbled as she walked towards Erin.

 

She had a murderous look in her icy-blue eyes; A look of rage. Other than that, her face was rather pale, making Erin wonder if she had gone through some pain while the Ether went into her body.

 

"L-Listen I'm sorry... I know I said that I woul---Fei?" Erin tried to explain, but was caught off guard, as Fei hugged him tightly, her body trembling slightly.

 

"You... Something happened right?" She asked, her voice cracking.

 

Erin felt his shirt soak up her tears. He sighed, then embraced her back, comforting her.

 

"Yeah... But listen... I am never going to leave you, nor will I ever let anything happen to you." Erin tightened his embrace, lightly kissing her head.

 

He wasn't going to let anything happen to his family. No matter what, his family comes first. His father's dying words were;

 

'Family comes before anything because, this love you have, is something that can never be replaced'

A/N: I was motivated to pump out another so here it is! And yes, this was the prologue. The next chapter will be a time skip, and a lot of new characters will be introduced!
