Chapter 25: Chap 24 – Something is wrong with Susan

I still can't believe my mother did this.

Today is going to be a bad day at school.

Lucky I have Elysia, Elly and Susanna in my classroom. They're the only ones who will understand me right now...

"Elly, need help?"

Elly looked at the class as if she didn't understand.

From what I know of her, she is bad at theory classes and the class now is pure magic theory.

Amanda taught me everything I know in the first year, but Elly didn't do as well as I did.

"Yes Master."

"I told you that you don't have to call me master in school."

It's weird to be called master in front of other people, so I asked her to call me by my name.

But for some reason she always calls me master when we are alone or not around others... It's kind of embarrassing!

The bell rang signaling lunch break.

After eating our lunches together, it was time for us to go back to lessons. We walked side-by-side through the hallway chatting about nothing important. The way she looks up at me while smiling makes me feel happy every single day.

We arrived at the classroom before anyone else.

After a while Elysia also arrived followed by Susan.

They both looked like they were trying their best to avoid looking at each other.

Susanne didn't even say hi to Elysia, just nodded and sat down next to me without saying anything.

I wonder what happened to these two.

When class started Susan seemed really nervous, almost like she wanted to run out of the room. She kept fidgeting around during the whole lesson.

Susan doesn't seem very friendly towards Elysia either, so maybe something has gone on between them recently.

I already have few friends, if the few I have start fighting...

Well, I'd better see about it later.

My thoughts drifted away into space until the end of class when Elysia suddenly spoke:

"...Master, there's something wrong with Susan..."

"What do you mean?" I replied concerned.

She looked at me worriedly "Susan did something terrible."

Her expression made it clear how serious this situation was.

This couldn't be true, could it?

I took a deep breath and decided to ask.

"Did she hurt herself?!"

A long pause followed before Elysia answered:

"No, no one got hurt, but..."

"She hid from you that she ate your jam," Amanda suddenly appeared.

"It's not that..."

"This is nonsense."

Why should she be so worried about something as silly as that?

Amanda continued "You gave her permission to eat whatever food you left in your desk. You specifically said 'if someone eats my jam, please tell me'!"

That's not exactly what I meant.

"If that's the case, I guess that's all taken care of, but why are you here, Amanda?"

"We will have a field evaluation next week, and the director would like you to participate."

Oh great another test, I thought as I sighed.

As usual Amanda wouldn't let me finish my sentence and went ahead answering her own question: "Don't worry your whole class will participate."

"We can form a team..." Susan said shyly.

She was quiet hidden until now.

"I don't know if it's going to be a group test"

"My father told me that it will be."

"Message given, see you at home Master," Amanda said before leaving.

She looked a little relieved for some reason.

"So what happens now?"

"Nothing much, we just wait until Monday then head off to the forest. There should be an entrance near the school, where we meet with our partners and begin the exam."

"And after the exam?"

"Then comes the results."

I felt myself getting anxious again.

Why does everything happen too fast?!

"Master, you okay?"

"Yeah sure, I'll be fine. Let's get back to home."

"Okay Master."
