Chapter 1: Chapter 1: Beginning

One of the four main kingdoms of the continent, Phuvia, was the home of many adventurers, those who seek to become mages, knights, and of course, home for the non-talented.

The Phuvia Kingdom was huge, covering an extensive mass of land, and on a small piece of that land was the village of Rattenburg, home of a few people who worked hard every day to keep themselves fed.

Inside a small cabin with old furniture pieces and jars with strange things on the shelves, a group of three people talked with an older woman.

These people were a young couple of Rattenburg, a man, a woman, and their son, who only had three years old. The cabin they were in belonged to the healer of the small village, who was known to possess strange divination powers, such as identifying if the baby would be a boy or a girl.

"Is something wrong with the baby?" Fiona said as she gazed at the older woman, who had a strange look on her face.

The healer had a small piece of stone hanging on a cord, and according to her, the side on which the stone would move gave the answer Fiona looked for.

Now, the stone started moving, the older woman had a strange expression, as if something was wrong with the baby, and that was why Fiona worriedly asked her what had happened.

"Nothing, my dear. Congratulations, your little son will soon have a little brother."

Malcolm, Fiona's husband, was beside her, rejoicing that their baby was healthy. For them, it did not matter if it was a boy or a girl; what mattered the most was if everything was all right with the baby.

It was not uncommon for babies to die before they were born, a fear Fiona never knew she had until she became a mother.

"This is great. Oh, my sweet boy."

Rattenburg village threw a festival that day, as it was not every day the town welcomed a new member. Everyone drank, ate, and danced till midnight, celebrating another child that would become part of their family.

"Is it fair for us to grow another child in this place?" Fiona asked her husband as they hugged each other, looking at the bright stars in the sky.

"What can we do? I know that both of my sons will reach great heights, maybe even becoming grand knights like me or tap into the unknown realm of magic. All we can do is give them the best life we can with our resources." Malcolm said.

He was once a grand knight well-known throughout the kingdom but eventually retired, choosing Rattenburg as the final stop. There, he met Fiona, and they had been together for years, reaching the point of having their second child.

Malcolm did not want their kids to face dangers like the ones he met back when he was a grand knight, adventuring throughout the lands, killing beasts for money.

But staying all their lives inside that small village without knowing the vast world was also something he did not want them to do, so Malcolm set a goal in his mind.

He would teach his kids how to fight, and they would decide if Rattenburg were the place they would stay or if the world was too big for them to stay in one place.

Seven years passed in the blink of an eye. Henry was now seven years old, born in Rattenburg by the village's only midwife, Trina.

The day Henry turned seven was a critical moment of his life. It was the same day Henry's memories from his past were unlocked, flooding his mind with images of his past life.

It was also the same day he unlocked a type of system that looked similar to RPGs' stats screen, but no matter what he tried, Henry could not find a way to earn EXP.

"Henry, wake up. Your father will soon return from the hunting, and you still have to prepare the table. Also, isn't today the day he will start teaching you how to use a sword?" Fiona said.

Fiona felt something strange about Henry, as he was excited the day before, saying that he would finally learn how to fight like his dad, yet now, he looked like a mummy who could not move out of bed.

She did not know that the two personalities were merging, and, in the end, the old Henry from Earth took control.

"I don't think I was supposed to have both of my memories." Henry thought.

When the old memories came back, he remembered the moment he and his father died back on Earth and the mysterious entity he talked to after he died.

That made him choose what type of world he would be sent to, but accordingly, to that entity, Henry would never know about this, and all the memories he had at that point would vanish.

Still, differently, from expected, everything returned to him as if it had been there the whole time. Henry stayed in bed for some time to readjust his new memories and personality.

"Good morning, mom!" Henry loudly said as he woke up, ready to prepare the table his mother asked him for.

Although he was not the Henry they knew, he still had a love for his parents, and that would never change.

One thing that made him pissed was how his older brother treated him, disrespectful since he was born. Joshua was his name, and one of the things Joshua bragged about was the fact he would always be more talented than him, which is why their father taught him how to fight first.

Joshua was already ten years old and was not there in the house with Henry and Fiona because he went with their father to hunt with the rest of the hunters from Rattenburg.

Henry did not believe he lacked the talent when compared to Joshua, and now with the leveling system he got, there was no way Joshua would come on top.

After preparing the table for lunch, Henry calmly waited outside their wooden house for his father.
