[Ken Senses(Passive, Rank 1): Increases the user's five senses.]

The name of such a skill was self-explanatory. Henry instantly felt the difference, as he could see farther away, and the dark spots of the house weren't that dark anymore.

All the smells from the incredible lunch his parents made were more pungent. Henry could faintly hear the conversation from the people outside, proving his hearing was way better than before.

"This system allows me to improve my attributes and learn special skills from magical beasts. Incredible!"

Henry was delighted with his discovery, as he knew the world he was in had many different magical beasts, which were more potent than the average human, and granted him strong skills after he ate them.

"Is something wrong with the food, honey?" Fiona said.

She noticed Henry staring at nothingnesses as if he was in a trance.

"Nothing, mom. The food tastes wonderful," Henry said, grabbing the bowl with stew to eat like a starved beast.

The rabbit was no magical beast and, for that reason, had no EXP or skills for Henry. It was a pity, but it still diminished his hunger, which was not bad for a development kid.

After eating everything, Henry helped his mom clean up the dishes and rested his stomach after a quick nap.

During the afternoon, his father, Malcolm, came to wake him up, smiling.

"Boy, it is time for our training."

Henry jumped out of bed, excited to learn how to fight finally. He also wanted to test his Keen Senses during a real fight to see if it would make a difference.

Joshua noticed when Henry and his father left the house to train outside, and he followed closely behind.

Before that, Joshua talked with his father, saying that maybe a sparring match with him and his little brother would be a good idea to see if Henry had a natural talent or something of the like, and Malcolm agreed to it.

Malcolm did not know that Joshua had a deep hatred for his younger brother; if he knew that, there was no chance he would let a sparring match like that happen.

"All right, Henry, my son. You and Joshua will do a sparring match, just for training purposes, to see your talent with the sword. Here, take it," Malcolm said as he tossed two wooden swords to each son.

Henry was not as scared as he once was. Now, he had a new skill gained after eating the flesh of that magical wolf.

"I still have my free points, but I will not spend them now. I don't know how to put in with a decent build."

He still needed more information about his world, as Henry was just a kid.

After grabbing the sword, Henry glanced at Joshua, who was right in front of him, with a malicious smile.

Unlike Henry, Joshua had blond hair, similar to their mother, Fiona. Henry was more like his father, with black hair and black eyes.

They stared at each other for some time, and when Henry's body changed into a fighting mode, his eyes went from black to gray as his Keen Senses worked at full effect.

Joshua was older and had learned how to fight before, so he was the first to strike, thinking it would be impossible for him to lose against his younger brother.

Henry was delighted when he saw his brother dashing towards him with the wooden sword.

A kid of ten years old was not fast, and Joshua seemed to be walking in slow motion with the Keen Senses Henry got from eating the wolf meat.

"I still have no idea how to use a sword, but winning against him will not be a problem," Henry thought.

Henry dodged to the side easily when Joshua's sword slashed down, avoiding the attack. Joshua could not believe his little brother had the reaction time to prevent that slash.

Maybe it was luck, he thought, but right after the dodge, Henry sent an attack of his own, hitting Joshua's back.

"Aggr!"

An attack that would not kill, obviously, but the strike of a wooden sword surely hurt. Joshua yelled in pain, and Malcolm decided to stop the sparring match.

"Impressive, Henry. You easily avoided that attack, even in a situation of pression," Malcolm said.

Henry's skills were extraordinary, considering he was a seven-year-old kid who had never practiced sword fighting.

The only reason for his easy win was the newly acquired Keen Senses, but a win was still a win, and the feeling of showing Joshua who the boss was; was pleasing.

"You cheated!" Joshua said as he got up, angrily staring at Henry, who smiled back to make him even angrier.

"My son, it was no cheating. Your brother Henry is a natural talent; you should be proud of that, just like I am. He will also help you learn, and you can reach the top together."

What Malcolm said made sense, but not to Joshua, who hated Henry to the bones. How could he let a seven-year-old kid who had never entered a fight before having the best of him? What would the other kids in Rattenburg think about him?

Joshua gulped all the hatred and said, "I understand, father."

"Good, good. Now, let's start today's lesson."

Malcolm was an experienced adventurer and also a Grand Knight. Teaching two kids were easy for him, but one had to start with the basics.

Henry and Joshua did not have the body strength to start practicing the breathing techniques of Knights. It was safer to start when they were older, 12 years and above.

So, for that reason, they would first learn how to behave in a fight, how to use the primary type of weapons properly, and last but not least, train their body accordingly.

The body training was, in fact, one of the most critical aspects of their training. Without a strong body, one would not be able to practice the breathing technique, therefore never reaching the level of a Knight, much less the level of a Grand Knight.

"The sword is the hardest weapon to start learning, so it would be the first you will learn. I am an expert in sword fighting but lack the knowledge about other weapons such as spears, bows, sword-and-shield, hammers; you get the point."

Henry carefully listened to everything. For him, a weapon like a spear would be cooler, but he did not have the luxury to choose that yet.

He would make sure everything his father taught him would not waste and make everyone proud.

"Now, pay attention to my stance, and make sure to have a stable base. Remember, the strength of a sword attack does not come only from the arms but from the whole body."

Malcolm explained everything slowly, trying to make it easier for their sons to comprehend, as they were only kids.

Joshua already knew some of that stuff, as he was more advanced in the class than Henry, but Henry was confident his comprehension surpassed that of his brother.

It was because of his older mind which made everything easier. Henry quickly grasped what his father wanted to teach, copying the same stance Malcolm did, only slightly worse.

Still, in just one try, the stance Henry came up with was better than Joshua's, who had been training for quite some time with his father.

While Henry started at seven years old, Joshua began at 10. It had been only a month since he started training. The reason was that Joshua wanted to learn magic from the old healer of Rattenburg, but she did not accept him as her disciple, saying she did not have the time for it.

He tried to convince her otherwise but only made it worse, and the woman got mad at Joshua.

Henry once again impressed his father, who now believed his son honestly had the gift to be a Knight.

"Good job, Henry. You are way better than I was at your age. I can feel you will become an extraordinary man," Malcolm said.

Malcolm was sure Henry would reach the level of a Grand Knight, but could he also become an Acolyte? He wanted to know that the true strength was only available to those who turned into Acolytes and eventually reached the level of an Official Magus.

The first training day showed them how to enter the sword stance and body training.

"Let's go, one more!" yelled Malcolm, who tried to keep his sons motivated to do the push-ups and run around the village with heights.

"My father is insane. Making us run with heights wouldn't hinder my growth. I don't want to be a dwarf!"

Despite the feeling, Henry still ran like a madman, sweating his ass off to make sure improvement was on its way.

All he wanted to do was take a shower in the nearby waterfall and sleep like a rock.

That was precisely what he did when the afternoon reached its end. First, a bathe in a waterfall close to Rattenburg, then dinner, which consisted of more wolf meat.

[+15 EXP]

It gave him the same amount of EXP, but the warm feeling in his body diminished the training pain, increasing his recovery speed.

That was one of the reasons meat from magical beasts was expensive, and Henry having one was a luxury.

"Considering we have wolf meat for some time, I guess I can reach level 3 before it runs out. That is nice," Henry thought.

He already had a goal in mind; reach level 3, use his free points and the knowledge he got from his father to go out hunting with him, and maybe find more magical beasts, although the chance was low, and it would be dangerous for him to do that.

Still, that would be the best chance for him to improve his strength quickly. With those thoughts in mind, Henry fell asleep inside his comfy wooden house, eager for the next training day.

~~~~
Just like that, a month passed. Henry kept the same routine: helping his mom, eating good food, training, and resting.
With the help of the wolf meat, he reached level 3, but that was the highest he got with the magical beast's meat shortage.
Not only did his level increase, but his ability to wield the sword, and even his father, a respectable Grand Knight, was shocked by Henry's fast development.
Joshua was also talented, and seeing how his younger brother was getting better after each passing day, he worked harder, sometimes even double the amount Henry did, making sure to keep their level of power close.
All that preparation was worth it, as Malcolm would now bring his two sons with him on a hunting trip and maybe find a magical beast and kill it.
A rumor spread throughout Rattenburg, saying that a few animals from the farms went missing, and that could only mean a magical beast was behind it.
The hunting trip was not only for food but to scout the surrounding area, looking for the culprit behind those attacks.
Henry woke up excited about it, as he would have the chance to show everything he learned in the past month and find a new source of EXP. That, of course, would only happen if they encountered a magical beast.
"Wake up, Henry, Joshua. Take these clothing and change," Malcolm said.
Hunting was a dangerous task, and anything could happen out there, so for that reason, Malcolm gave both his sons a special leather armor he made, adjusted to their body size.
It was not the best way of protection, but better than going hunting in everyday clothes.
Also, he gave them a special fur cloak made of the pelt from the magical beast they killed on the last hunting trip, making Henry look even more handsome.
As for the weapons, two short swords made of fine steel and a bow. Malcolm not only taught them how to use a sword but also a bow.
The bow was the primary weapon to hunt, and everyone in the hunting group knew how to use one properly.
"Everything ready? Let's go!"
Malcolm, Henry, and Joshua left Rattenburg, meeting with the rest of the hunters just outside the village.
It was a group of 5 adults and two kids.
"Malcolm! I see you brought your two sons along. Maybe one of them will marry my daughter one day, ha ha ha."
Who said it was the father of one of the two kids? It was a girl named Jenifer, and the other kid with her was a friend of hers, Pete, who also had a crush on her.
The moment he heard what Jenifer's father said, he was enraged.
"Haha, Sebastian, they are too young to think about those things. Anyway, let's go not to waste the sun!" Malcolm said, tapping on Sebastian's shoulder.
"You are right."
After that quick conversation, four adult men, two women, and four kids left Rattenburg on a hunting trip.
