-theodore-
"Ow, ow, ow that hurts." I winced as she pushed my arm further into my back.
"Answer my questions and I'll consider letting you go."
I turned to look at her, unable to control the smile creeping onto my face.
"You're much prettier up close-
OW OKAY, I'M SORRY!"
I tried to slow my breathing a bit. I hadn't run that fast since I was a child, and that girl sure did put up a fight. Never in my life had I witnessed a woman tackle anyone as she had. "I'll tell you anything you want to know, just please let go of my arm before you break it."
"You think I'll buy that? I know as soon as I let you free, you'll make a run for it."
"No, I won't run again. I swear it. You have my word." I said, flashing a smile.
"A stranger's word means nothing to me."
We looked at each other for a minute, tension filling the air. "I swear on my life. I won't run again."
Her eyebrows wrinkled and she was obviously unamused, but she slowly let my arm free. I rubbed my shoulder and sat up to face her.
She crossed her arms impatiently. I studied her face. I'd never been able to look at her this close before. Her cheeks and nose were rosy from the cold. Her eyes seemed even colder than the winter air around us, the deep brown color surprisingly holding no warmth. It was almost like her eyes were just drops of the night sky. I could've sworn I saw stars swirling in them.
"Well? Are you going to talk or not?" She demanded.

My eyes darted to the ground in embarrassment. Pull it together Theo "My name is Theodore, but you can call me Theo. I live in Bristelton."
"Why were you watching me."
"Oh um," I can't tell her the truth, "I was going for a walk in the woods and stumbled across your home. It was just a coincidence, honest."
She narrowed her eyes, looking me up and down. I'm not sure what she was looking for, but I suppose she didn't find it as a minute later she rose to her feet and peered down at me.
"Don't come out here again."
She turned to walk away but I stopped her. "Wait! I told you my name, but I have yet to learn yours."
She halted slightly but didn't look back in my direction. I hauled myself up, taking a step towards her.
"What is your name...?"
She flexed her hands; "Ailith. My name is Ailith."
I jumped a little as she turned her face toward me.
"That's all you need to know. Now leave and don't come back, Theodore."
She stumbled over a few branches, walking back the way we came while I stood frozen. My face burnt, but I knew it wasn't from the cold. I smiled softly.
"She said my name."
