After her leave of absence ended, Aurora returned to her normal class schedule.
Although the competition with Lillian was left unfinished due to the accident, the academy treated it as her win. Due to this, her reputation amongst the students of all years grew to unprecedented heights. She did not know how to handle this besides showing a blank expression.
Fortunately, even if Aurora did not say a single word in response, they did all the talking.
“Good morning, Lady Isla!” A group of three male students greeted her with slight blushes as she made her way to her first class.
She nodded her head as a greeting.
“Lady Isla, good morning!”
“Are you on the way to class?”
Next, a group of ladies a year above Aurora pulled her aside. It was the fifth time someone talked to her in the hallway.
By the time she reached her Practical Rune Magic Class, Aurora felt as if a whole day had already passed. Before she could even take a break, she was surrounded by several ladies the moment Lady Griselda sat down next to her.
“Lady Isla, which events do you plan on participating in?”
“Will you enter the ‘Princess’ event, Lady Isla? I think you will take 1st place if you do!”
“Which vendor are you thinking of investing in, Lady Isla?”
“Lady Isla, will you bring His Grace as your partner to the festival?”
Aurora didn’t know what was going on. “Festival?” When she asked that, the others were taken back for a moment.
“Lady Isla only arrived at the Dukedom very recently, it's no surprise she is not aware of such a grand event. Did you all forget that Miss Isla used to live in a place isolated from society?”
Yulia Vel Nolbeia placed her finger on her lips and scoffed as she glared at Aurora. The other ladies surrounding her followed her lead and laughed at this.
After realizing that the Young Lady of the Nolbeia family made that remark, the ladies surrounding Aurora dispersed and returned to their seats.
Yulia smirked, but when seeing Aurora was not flustered at all, she scowled and turned her head around when the Professor entered the class.

Griselda tapped Aurora’s shoulder and whispered. “Don’t mind them. The Academy Festival is a large gathering held every year for seven days that many in the Rizar Dukedom look forward to since it is the perfect chance to distinguish your household and connections in society from others.”
Aurora didn't answer, but a small smile escaped her. 'Hah. Nobles are still the same even a thousand years later. Taking any and every chance to show off.'
Griselda mistakenly thought Aurora was interested in the festival due to her smile and continued with an excited tone.
“Students are tasked with inviting a vendor to the festival. You can do so in a group of five or on your own. The top three vendors who sell the most will obtain a contract with the academy. Another well-known event is the maze challenge."
The Maze Challenge…according to Griselda, is a challenge that tests your intelligence, proficiency in using your sigil, and combat skills. For three times a day, fifty students will challenge the maze during each interval. The fifty students will have a mixed ratio of students from different departments and years. The fifty students will need to find hidden runes to reach the exit. And on their way, they will come upon obstacles and traps that will hinder their movement forward.
While the obstacles and traps are not life-threatening, it's not easy at all to get through. The one who comes out first amongst the fifty students usually grows up to become successful, be it a Noble or a commoner.
“Of course, there are also many other fun events. Like the evening ball held in the courtyard on the last day.”
A school festival, huh? Two words that Aurora was not very fond of.
Even as the Crown Princess of the Empire, a Witch was still a Witch and must be observed. After all, who can trust a Witch enough to enjoy the festival? Especially, young Witches who still have not gone through their 2nd awakening...who knew when they would lose control of their mana?
When such events took place, all Witches were not allowed to participate or attend.
While her Father once tried his best to protect Witches and treat them equally, most Nobles refused to accept such rules, and therefore there were times where he had to stand down.
Later on, it was also that same person who ordered the massacre of Witches.
“A festival,” Aurora whispered.
Even if things have changed from before, it’s not so easy to forget the past.
Aurora clenched her fists. “Such a pretentious occasion, I want nothing to do with it.”
Griselda heard what Aurora said and found herself stumped at such words. But Princess Estelle, who sat behind them, felt the same as Aurora, though she would never voice it.
But contrary to her wishes, Aurora would soon find herself in the one place she did not want to be. Right in the middle of the festival. And not in a good way.
