Aurora made sure to mask her presence.
Now that she was able to connect with her mana core, even though she couldn't use advance spells, small tricks like this were still possible.
Hal sneered at Coux.
“I’m still young. Achievement and reputation, I can gain on my own.” He stood up and clasped his hands behind his back.
“However, this is a rare opportunity to gain the Black Market’s favor. They have been taking in Witches on the run and turning them into convenient suicide tools for the assassin organization. Everyone knows how much influence and power the Black Market has with underground trading.” He paused and stared at Coux. “Do you understand how much this will benefit me? The Ascarot family?”
“I understand…however…”
“Coux, I know you hate Witches since your little sister caused your family to be separated. But do you think she’ll have a good ending once being sold to the Black Market? They will not treat her as gently as I did. They will break her until she is no longer herself."
Hal sat down in a huff. “Besides, do you know how much I wasted on the artifacts she used? I’ll at least be able to regain that money and keep it hidden from my Father. She needs to return what she was given.”
“Still…”
He glared at his childhood friend. “Enough! This discussion is over. Instead…” He licked his lips in a perverse manner. “Before we sell her off, I need to have a taste of that pure body at least once. It’s the least she can do after all the trouble she gave me.” His face twisted in excitement.
“How will we trick her? With her foresight skill, she'll escape the moment she notices that something is wrong."
Hal laughed. “So what? What can such a tiny thing do against me? But well, so she doesn’t cause us any trouble I received a gift from the Black Market. They've given me a way to handle her." He held out a small vial filled with blue and red liquid. “This is a special concoction that will block her from using her foresight for two hours. It'll even make the one who drinks it fall asleep in ten minutes."
“This….are you sure it'll work?” Coux asked, filled with uncertainty. He's never seen or heard of such a strange liquid.
“Yes, don’t worry. Tomorrow night, someone unrelated to her will pour this in her tea. He will only be informed on what he needs to do, and will not be told anything about her. Make sure no one else is in the mansion to disturb us.”
“I should at least stay inside, just in case.”
“No need.” He waved his hand in refusal. “She’ll be asleep the whole time, so there will be no danger to myself. And even if she isn’t, do you think a girl can hurt me?” Hal turned his head, looking daggers at him.
He hated being belittled and pitied by others just because he didn't have much mana, and his fighting skills were average at best. Even if that’s the case, so what? After Aurora's mother made it so that humans could no longer use mana, unlike the others, he was happy. While it was a little inconvenient, humans will come begging to work for him.
Using his wealth and intelligence, he'll make others willingly risk their lives for him.
While it was a shame he couldn’t keep Aurora by his side, he had plenty of opportunities to find a Witch with powerful abilities. He'd gather two or three and protect them from the Imperial Family. They'd fall in his arms grateful for his love and protection.
“I do not dare…”
Hal snorted and then smiled as he thought of tasting another virgin. Since he’ll soon be forced to marry, why not enjoy the freedom he has now before being tied down by rules? “I’ll then have my way with her until I tire. Hahaha!”
Fermion watched as the Young Master laughed. Really, he didn’t understand his childhood friend at times. He could have any noble lady he wanted and here he was chasing after Witches who were labeled as criminals and to be killed on sight.
Aurora's eyes turned blank. Hollow. Was she dreaming? She wanted this to be nothing but a nightmare. This person, sitting there laughing was the kind and noble Hal who cared for and protected her over the past few months? How could this be?
Swaying back and forth she stumbled back to her room. She climbed on the bed and covered herself with the bedsheets, from head to toe. With her knees tucked to her chest, she curled into a ball, telling herself it was only a bad dream.
The next day, when the sun peaked through the clouds, Aurora sat up in bed. She didn't sleep at all. Because of this, she could no longer claim what she heard yesterday was a dream. She had dark circles around her eyes, causing the maid to gasp when she saw this.
“Young Miss, did you not sleep at all?!” The maid asked concerned. She pushed in a cart with sweets and tea inside. “Please eat something and rest.”

Aurora glanced at the tea suspiciously. Did they pour it in already? No, it must be later tonight. Probably when serving the night snack.
Her hand trembled as she picked the tea up to drink. Her maid looked at her worriedly. After she finished, the maid helped her wash up.
“Please let H-Hal know that I’m not feeling well today and will be resting in my room.” Just saying his name made her feel like vomiting. “Also…” She paused. “For tonight’s snack please bring in some fresh fruits. I will cut it myself.”
To protect herself, she can only try this.
The maid nodded her head and left the room, leaving Aurora to curl back on the bed.
She spent the rest of the day falling in and out of sleep, each time waking up wheezing and sweating as his laughter repeatedly played in her dreams. The dark expression on his face she saw last night, that wasn't the Hal she knew. In the first place, maybe she didn’t know him at all.
Was that his real self?
Was everything he said to her a lie?
Was this all her trust worth?
During the Emperor's, her grandfather's birthday banquet, everything changed. Her Mother, Helena Grannis Vankreift, stood tall in the middle of the throne room and confronted her Father. Having come late to the celebration everyone was wondering where she disappeared to when she suddenly made a grand entrance. She clearly remembered her Mother’s vicious expression as she stared at the man she loved with all her heart.
“Is this what all my love is worth?”
“Is this all it takes for you to betray me?”
Helena pointed at Millianna who was sitting on the side with her parents.
“A slut who only knows how to seduce married men?”
Her words caused an uproar to rise in the room. At that moment, Aurora who was sitting next to her Father, noticed there wasn't a single change in his expression. There was only cold indifference.
It was normal for royal members, especially those who were next in line for the throne, to take more than one wife. But it was said that Ellias was completely devoted to Helena and refused to touch another woman besides her.
The Emperor was so angry at this humiliation that his entire face turned red. He kept calling for the Imperial Knights to subdue her.
“No, in the first place, I was only a tool for you!” Helena turned to Aurora. Although her Mother didn’t shed a single tear, Aurora could tell that she had long cried herself dry. “My daughter, do not end up like me. A tool forsaken by the one you love. It is a fate worse than death. Live.”
Helena disappeared in a black fog before the Knights could reach her side. After all, being a Witch that can control the rare dark element, there was no way for them to catch her.
The words her Mother left her repeatedly echoed in her ears as she curled up in bed. She tried covering her ears to block out her words and closed her eyes so as to not see that scene, but to no avail.
“A tool forsaken by the one you love. It is a fate worse than death. Live.”
“It is a fate worse than death. Live.”
“Live.”
Aurora’s eyes snapped open. She stood up and walked towards the large mirror. Staring at herself in the mirror, she saw the reflection of her Mother’s empty eyes staring back.
“Live!”
