One month of continuously training passed without much progress. Aurora finally snapped. She couldn’t leave the mansion and felt as though she was suffocating. When she begged Hal to let her visit the closest town in disguise to get some air, he refused.
Until Fermion stepped in and said, “Why not, but no need for a disguise.”
Both Fermion and Hal took her to the forest by horse. Hal waited at the entrance while smiling and waving at her as Fermion took her deep into the forest.
They dismounted from the horse, and Fermion held out a black, thick fabric.
“This blindfold is reinforced with a seal type magic. You can not remove it yourself, and if you try to force it you will damage your eyes. Using your ability, you need to find your way back to the entrance of the forest while protecting yourself from the wild animals.”
Aurora stepped back in terror.
“What? Scared? You can’t do it?”
She shook her head no. She only wanted to come out for air, why did it end up like this? She didn’t want to do it. Surely she'll die. Aurora wanted to say she'd no longer complain and plead for them to go back, but before she could, he chuckled.
“Even though you’ll be disappointing Hal again?”
She shivered when hearing his name. At first, he visited her everyday, but that soon changed to once every week. He told her he was busy with the trade route project and was frustrated over some things. So she tried to cheer him up, but nothing worked.
“He’ll be really happy if you succeed.” Fermion stepped towards her and leaned down slightly to whisper as if trying to put her in a trance. “Hal is waiting. He's waiting for you to come back.”
Aurora pictured Hal waving his hand and smiling at her just outside of the forest. If she could use her ability to assist him and take some of his burdens, then she was willing to put herself in harm's way. "Okay."
When she agreed, Fermion smirked. When it came to the Young Master, she became obedient. He placed the fabric over her eyes and left immediately after.
The second she was left alone, Aurora was terrified. She sank to her knees, repeatedly calling out for Hal, for anyone to help her. When no one answered her, the feeling of terror and being completely isolated from the world washed over her.
"Stand up. A Princess should not fall to her knees so easily."
A strict, yet warm voice reminded her.
Taking a deep breath, she was finally able to calm herself down and climbed back on her feet.
She started walking from the direction they came from. Of course, she fell plenty of times and accumulated numerous injuries as time passed. Her legs and arms were bleeding from cuts she received from the branches. Her ability only activated once, giving her a general idea of where she was heading.
She heard a rustling sound.
"Is someone there?!” Startled, she stopped walking.
Aurora took a deep breath and focused on her mana core.
She remembered something her Mother once said.
“Magic is there to make one’s desires and wishes come true. Mana is your life-force and your resource to magic. Before offering your mana to the spirits, focus on what you want and will your mana to carry your wishes to the spirit.”
After her 2nd awakening she can no longer connect with the spirits. At first, she tried using her mana core to activate her ability, but it didn't work. Then, what if she directed her 'wishes' somewhere else? Maybe to her mana core?
A mana core is a tool to gather and store mana. It does not have a spirit, nor a conscious. However, it is very important for those who use magic. It tells us what type of magic we're most suitable for, and allows us to freely control mana.

What if...what if after a Witch awakens, the mana core also...awakens? And the other spirits recognize it as a spirit as well? Maybe the other spirits deem it as an abomination? Or maybe fear it? Then the reason why a Witch can not communicate with the other spirits after their 2nd awakening would make sense.
Aurora closed her eyes.
She concentrated on the slowly round black shape inside her, giving off an immense pressure. She tried to ask it to guide her to that she cannot see. The round shape started pulsing as if it was alive.
She suddenly saw an image of her being bitten by a snake in the next twenty seconds. Aurora quickly changed the direction she was heading to and bypassed the area where the snake was lying in wait.
By the time Aurora reached the entrance to the forest, her body was covered in dirt and blood. Just as she was about to fall, two arms caught her from behind. “Welcome back.” Hal’s soothing voice tickled her ears.
“Hal...I was able…to do it.” She said between breaths, exhausted. “I…activated my ability…for the first time…on my own.”
Hal smiled brightly at her. "You did well."
Her training went on in this manner in the next month, getting even more intense as time passed. Her body was sore and bruised and she was in pain every day.
They were able to understand her ability much more.
Although she was finally able to activate her ability at will, they realized a few things. First, she could only see a maximum of 30 seconds in the future. And second, the future she can see was only limited to her and those who have a relationship with her. In the end, even though she ended up using so many magical artifacts during the consuming, her ability was ranked low amongst the Witches.
Every time they learned more about her ability, the more Hal would treat her coldly. In the past month, he didn't visit her even once.
One night, Aurora was moaning in her sleep. She kept hearing a voice. There was no distinction between male or female, young or old. And yet surely, someone or something was trying to warn her.
Wake up! Now!
Gasping, she sat up in bed and looked around. When she saw she was alone she sighed in relief. Seeing she didn’t have any water left, she left the room in search of something to drink.
That was when she heard two familiar voices talking in the main room.
Hal and Fermion.
Hal was sitting down with his legs crossed, while Fermion was standing in front of him.
She didn’t want to eavesdrop, but something kept telling her she shouldn’t reveal herself.
“We’ll sell her to the Black Market.” Hal declared. He was bitter and dejected that in the end, this was all she amounted to.
Coux didn’t agree with this, and it clearly showed on his face.
“What? You have something to say?” Hal was livid. He was already fuming after realizing everything he did for that girl was pointless.
Although Coux realized the Young Master wasn’t pleased with him, he decided to voice his opinion. “Why don’t we turn her over to His Majesty? You’ll be recognized for your achievement and gain more reputation amongst the nobles. Especially since you prioritized your loyalty to the Empire over your past fiancée.”
They…are they talking about her…?
