Kellas nearly wrapped himself around Aurora as he stood next to her. "I'm okay." Aurora patted him on his head, and he rubbed his nose against her palm.
“Lillian Lancaster. Let’s talk.” Aurora said while gasping. That mental attack took a toll on her, so she tried to buy time until she recovered.
“…” Lillian didn’t accept or refuse Aurora. She just icily glared at Aurora.
Aurora pointed at Lillian’s left wrist, where the black sun tattoo was. “Did you know the organization behind that tattoo are the very same ones responsible for killing Lucius’ childhood friends?”
“….” Lillian closed her mouth.
“So you knew? Then, what about the incident where Lucius lost control of his powers and accidentally killed his mother? I’m sure you know since it is not a secret.” When she still didn’t say anything, Aurora continued. “Then how about him losing control was connected to that incident?”
Lillian’s eyes trembled.
“Ah, so that you did not know...”
“Shut up.” Lillian’s cold chilly voice rang out.
“Where is your sword, Lillian? Did you not become a monster to hold a sword again? But how can you in that form?”
"Sword? My sword..."
As though Lillian did not know what Aurora was talking about, she looked at her hands, but they were no longer that of a human.
“Ah…ah…AH!” Lillian’s eyes swam with confusion, guilt, and sadness all at the same time. “ARGHHHH!!!” A pitiful howl filled the theater.
She suddenly doubled over with pain, and right before Aurora, Lillian completely transformed.
Besides the blue hair and the contour of her face, Lillian Lancaster had become a monster. In the truest sense of the word.
She turned around and leaped in the air. Using her forelegs, she broke through the concrete wall and jumped outside.
Aurora did not follow behind quickly, as she was still reeling from the mental attack earlier. She crossed her legs and sat on the floor to take a few moments to gather herself.
When she felt she was ready, Aurora stood up to give chase.
Kellas lowered his body and gestured for Aurora to get on. She quickly climbed and held on for dear life when he jumped and ran up on the wall until he went through the same hole as Lillian.
When Aurora saw the crowd on the ground, she frowned. ‘What is going on?’

A few minutes earlier...
When Lucius and his Knights left Aurora to protect the humans outside...
While his Knights were busy engaging the beasts, he approached the Captain of the academy guards. “Why have you not evacuated yet?”
“Your Grace!" He bowed his head. "There is a strange barrier around the building!”
Cassis and Geeve stepped forward to explain.
“It lets people in, but not out.”
Cassis explained how no one could go past the barrier, but when the other Rizar Knights on standby heard the commotion, they entered without a problem.
Geeve pointed to a group of guards and Knights a few feet away from the crowd. “They are working with two Rune Mage apprentices to figure out how to break it, but there isn’t much hope.”
Lucius looked at his struggling Knights fighting off the mantis. “Let’s take care of the beasts first.”
Just as Cassis and Geeve planned on joining the fray, the Duke stopped them. “Wait.”
‘The Metalkin Mantis are rare mutated beasts that live in the deepest part of the Corrupted Region. Because of this, it is difficult to come across them.’
“Commander?”
“Commander?!”
“Your Grace!!”
The Knights desperately called for Lucius, but he ignored them since he was in deep thought. “Hold on.”
‘Their catalyst core is, of course, a precious resource, but Aurora needed reliable and durable weapons to protect herself while her familiars fight. The Metalkin Mantis skin is a rare black metal called adamantine. This metal is used to make weapons that are virtually unbreakable. The Regalia weapons in the Tamriel Empire royal family use this metal.’
Because of the Rizar Knights, the people felt safe and looked on calmly as there wasn’t a single victim. But…they can’t last much longer! “Commaaaaaannnnddddeeeeeeer!!!!” They looked at Lucius with crying faces.
Lucius held a finger up. “One moment.”
‘The only reason why the Epheria Empire has not been able to make a Regalia is that dealing with the metal is difficult, and only certain blacksmiths called master craftsmen can make it. Even after sending spies to the Tamriel Empire, we still have not found a way…still, there is one person who might…’
The Rizar Knights were being thrown about and beaten up, but because of the daily hell training they go through in the mountains, their bodies were like steel, so Lucius wasn’t worried.

Lucius unsheathed his gold sword and took a few steps forward while still thinking.
‘I can also use the core to reinforce my swords. So as to not damage their skin and the core, I have to attack their weak point without using my ice element.’
“Gather them.”
The Knights worked to lure the mantis next to each other. It took a few minutes to get it right without involving the citizens.
He retracted his ice aura to use the mana in the air. Lucius held his word to the side, and with a single cross, he cut the heads of the mantis.
SWOOOOSH!
The people gaped in awe and then cheered at their Duke’s might, but their cheers stopped midway when a figure came flying through the crowd.
“It’s another beast!!!” Someone yelled.
The mantis dived into the crowd and caught a young child. It grabbed the boy in its arms and placed its sharp foreleg to his throat.
“LU---LUUUCIIIUUSS…..LUCIUS…” The beast’s voice was harsh on the ears, making everyone wince.
Lucius calmly confronted the mantis, even though his heart shook when he noticed the identity of the face. "Lillian..." He mumbled under his breath.
The people murmured and gasped as they watched this scene.
“T-that’s…how is that beast talking??!”
“LUCIUS…I….SHOULDN’T HAVE…UNDERESTIMATED YOU….IF-IF YOU WISH TO SAVE THE BOY, THROW D-D-DOWN YOUR…SWORDS!”
“My goodness, that beast is...really talking!!!!”
When Lucius didn’t move an inch, the crowd whispered and pointed.
“W-w-why? Isn’t he going to save him?”
“At this rate, the boy will die!”
“As the wielder of the divine sword gifted by the Emperor, he MUST save that child!”
It was as if another pack of monsters had surrounded him. But Lucius didn’t react to their condemnation. He just stood there silently.
“You guys…!!” Geeve and the other Knights wanted to reprimand them, but their Commander shook his head. So they could only shut up and watch.
A middle-aged lady grabbed Lucius’ coat. “Please, I beg you! Please save my child! He’s my one and only precious child!!!” She sobbed while begging him.
"..." Lucius threw the gold sword in his hand to the floor in front of the mantis.
The mantis cackled. “KAKA! THE OTHER ONE!!”
Lucius hesitated.
If he used his mana without the black sword, Lucius might very well lose himself and attack these innocent people.
With Aurora around, Lucius didn’t feel the need to hold back. But she only suppressed his urges. It did not mean the curse broke. Not to mention they have not shared the same bed, let alone kiss, since their fight.
“HURRY!” Lillian pressed her leg into the child, drawing blood.
“WAAAA, HELP!!” The boy cried out.
“My child!!!”
Lucius gripped the black sword and took it out of the holster. He also threw it at Lillian’s feet.
“HAHA!” She pushed the boy to the side and started running to Lucius. “WHAT A FOOL! DIE!”
Lucius stared at the Lillian head-on without moving.
'How did it come to this? Is it my fault that you have lost your way?'
Just as Lillian reached Lucius and planned to stab him, a great sound reverberated from the air.
“CAAAAAWWWW!”
An enormous bird with flamed-colored feathers flapped its magnificent wings just above the mantis that froze in place. The mantis quivered in fear when it saw it, as it was instinctively scared of fire.
When the people saw the phoenix, they could not help but look at the creature with fervor. There was not a single person who didn’t know of the bird.
One of the four heavenly spirit beasts, the phoenix of the South!
Surely, the events of this day will spread across the Empire in a matter of a few hours. And the fiancée of Lucius Rizar, from a fallen Baron family, Aurora Isla, will become an existence everyone wants for themselves.
