A few hours later, Lucius finally woke up.
Vale explained what the Duke needed to do to survive. After he finished, Lucius didn’t move or say anything. He just laid there, unmoving.
Everyone sat there in silence, waiting for his decision.
Until one person could no longer hold back. She was angry that he was taking a long time to think when the decision to make was obvious.
Aurora sat underneath her legs, with her posture straight and her hands in her lap. With a large smile on her face, she turned towards him.
Sia, Vale, and Lucius looked at her strangely. That smile of hers was…scary.
While Vale didn’t know her long, from the few hours he was with her he realized that she barely showed any expressions. And the little that she did were either frowns or scowls.
“Your Grace, you have to completely awaken your mana.”
Lucius just looked at her.
“Your Grace, you need to expel the poison.”
Lucius avoided her eyes.
#-_- Her smile was starting to lose shape, but she didn't give up.
For a while now, even though she didn't show it, Aurora was feeling painful and sore all over her body. It was as though she was the one gravely injured. The pain she was feeling now...was it coming from Lucius?
It was irritating and uncomfortable, picking up on emotions that didn't belong to her.
She clasped her hands, lowered her eyelids, and put on a tearful expression. "Please..."
Vale gagged as though he heard something unbelievable, while Sia tried to hide his laugh.
The Vice Captain covered his mouth with his hand and let out a small sound. "Pffttt..."
Aurora glared at him.
"Phewphew..." Sia avoided her glare and started whistling.
But Lucius still didn't move.
Having had enough, Aurora snapped. “Your…Grace…you’ll...die…at...this...rate!” Aurora said her expression between a smile and growl.
Lucius turned his head towards her and let out a rare chuckle. “I didn’t know you cared that much about me,” He said, his voice low and husky.
Did he just...smile and tease her at the same time??
“…Who are you? Where’s His Grace?! You're not Lucius Rizar!!” Aurora pointed at the Duke.
"No, no, no, Princess." Sia waved his hand back and forth. "More like, it's your identity we're starting to doubt."
Aurora recoiled in horror, her expression warped into that of repulsion at being called 'Princess'.
What?
What did he call her?
Taking a deep breath, she forced herself to put on a guise of indifference in all but a few seconds. Her change was so quick that one wouldn't be able to notice it without looking closely.
Still, Sia was able to catch her reaction to his words. He tried to figure out what he said that was wrong and wanted to ask, but Vale cut in.
“I assure you, he’s the one and only Duke and Lord of Rizar." Vale sighed in exasperation. "He might be acting abnormally due to his weakened state. He's already somewhat activated his ice ability to freeze and expel the poison. But his interference in trying to keep the beast at bay is what's taking him too long.”
Aurora’s eyes widened as she realized what was going on. It dawned on her that if he turned into what he turned into that night, leaving only his instinct, he was afraid he’d kill all of them.
After all, there were no beasts in the mountains for him to feed from.

Then what would happen if he wasn’t satisfied?
He’ll go after the blood of humans. A voice whispered inside her head.
“Leave us alone for a while.” Aurora requested for the two.
“Miss, it’s dangerous.” Sia disagreed quickly. He couldn’t guess how Lucius would behave in this state.
“I can’t leave. I need to look after him.” Vale interrupted.
“It’s fine. You’re not allowed to get close or enter the cave until I say so.” Aurora lowered her voice, her tone filled with determination.
Vale wanted to say more, but Sia dragged him away.
“W-wait….wait a minute! ...It’s cold outside! And what if something happens…she doesn’t know what to doooooooo….!” Vale echoed out, and before he could finish, Sia picked him up and threw him outside.
The Vice Captain grinned at Aurora. “Then, I’ll leave you two alone. Call us if you need anything.” He waved as he left. “Take your time and have fun!!”
Aurora blushed at his words. “Idiot.” She muttered under her breath.
“Lucius…” She called out.
Lucius’ eyes flickered open.
“Lucius, you need to wake up.” Aurora took a deep breath.
“You…you called my name again…earlier too…just before I…passed out.” His eyesight was blurry, and he could barely make out her figure.
“This isn’t the time for that. You have to let go of your control.”
“I can’t.” He replied, his voice barely audible.
“I know what you’re worried about, but it won’t happen.” Aurora reached behind her, to unzip the back of her dress. The simple, yet beautiful dress she wore on her way to the Holy Temple was now stained with dirt and torn at the hem.
To think that, this was the second time she'd willingly present herself to a noble, and a Duke at that.
But...well...as they say, life is unpredictable.
Lucius’ eyes flickered open and he watched Aurora’s every movement. He wanted to ask her what she was doing, but barely had any strength left.
“That night, you were able to slowly regain your senses…” She whispered, her voice was as mild as a gentle breeze.
Aurora pulled at the arm sleeves.
Seeing this, Lucius’ hazy expression started to return to normal. Or rather, he was stunned at the appearance of a beautiful young woman undressing in front of him.
Aurora pulled the dress down and stepped over it, leaving herself wearing only her undergarments. “And if we do so again while you expel the poison in your blood, you won’t lose control.” She took her shoes off and smiled as she looked at Lucius. “Priest Abel did say the negative energy from the curse will settle as long you find some sort of outlet.”
She walked slowly to his side, and without giving him the chance to say anything more, Aurora climbed on top of him. Her bottom sat right on top of his lower half, making him twitch in response.
Aurora pulled off his shirt, making sure to be careful not to cause his shoulder injury to worsen.
“Lucius.” She called out softly as if trying to coax a child. “It’s okay.” She leaned down, her light brown hair cascaded down her body, covering her back and chest. It brushed against his face and tickled his arms, as she placed her hand on his cheek. “I’ll stop you from hurting anyone. I’ll protect you. That’s why…”
Aurora grabbed his hand and placed it on her breast. “That’s why...use me."
'You're the only man I'll say that too.'
In the dark, Lucius’ piercing blue eyes remained clear and bright as he observed this adorable creature on top of him.
‘Ahh, as I thought. This woman is poison.’
A poison he wasn't confident that he could get rid of...or sure he wanted to get rid of at all.
