The last image of herself she remembered was very different from the one displayed in the mirror. As she stared quietly at herself in surprise, she patted her face and even pinched her cheeks. It seemed far too real to be considered a fantasy.

She was baffled.

Is this...her?

No.

This isn’t her.

No. It is her.

It’s her but…a different her.

This is her body, but younger.

Wasn't she older than this? That's right, she had long ago lost this fine figure of hers. Blisters had formed on her hands from working hard daily. As time passed, her naturally gentle eyes became dim and her skin a ghostly pale color.

She tried to recall what happened to her during that time, but the only thing she remembers is endless darkness and then appearing here. What happened before that? What was she doing? Who was she with? When she tried recalling how she ended up like this, she'd feel a sharp pain racing through her head.

She sighed.

Well now, no point in trying to remember what she can’t.

She touched her face with a perplexed expression. She shifted her head down to look at her chest. Placing a hand on each breast, she measured their size. Although it wasn’t as large as it used to be, it wasn’t on the small side. Hmm, it was just perfect!

When seeing this, Tanya and Anya’s cheeks flushed red with embarrassment. ‘The young Miss is very bold!’

Aurora let her breasts go and cleared her throat. “Where……?” She forced her tongue to form words to ask them a question that has been plaguing her. Because she has not talked to anyone for so long, her speech was broken and her voice hoarse.

Hearing the Miss’ voice the two maids were excited. She isn’t mad!

“Miss, this is Duke Rizar’s mansion in the City of Elran!” The one on the left, Tanya replied. “As the guest room has not yet been prepared, you are in his room.”

The moment she heard the title ‘Duke’, Aurora didn’t bother listening to anything else.

Duke?

A Duke? A nobleman?

Then, it was that young man she first saw? She knew he was a Noble, but why did it have to be a Duke?

Her heart pounded furiously, her breathing becoming shallow. No longer able to stand, she sat down on the only chair in the room. Her memories of her past started to return all at once. Her father was the Crown Prince, her Mother a Witch. Sadness, betrayal, chaos. Although her memories were still muddled, when she heard what the twins said her entire existence screamed at her to run.

Run! Run! She must run!

She must escape this place by any means possible!

“Miss, Miss! What’s wrong?!” The twins scrambled to her, worried that something was wrong. “Shall we call the House Physician over?”

She shook her head no, showing that she’s fine.

Tanya and Anya sighed in relief. “Miss, would you like to wash first, or shall we bring your breakfast up?”

“Give me……time……...alone.”

The two maids nodded their heads and bowed before leaving.

Calming herself down, Aurora closed her eyes to gather her thoughts.

She is a Witch who has survived through the ‘consuming’ and completed her 2nd awakening which gave her a unique ability. To see the future.

Her ability, unfortunately, was not very powerful and had many limitations. Although it didn’t give her the skills necessary to fight against her enemies, it helped her escape many dangerous situations.

How did she die? She still doesn't remember. But why does she have to escape? Why does she hate Nobles? Especially when it comes to Dukes?

That’s right, it happened when she was 15 years old. When she was full of youth and vigor, an innocent girl yearning for love. Her mother was busy getting revenge, while her father, the Crown Prince, swore to hunt Witches down and protect humans. And so, she was left to fend for herself.

Starving and with nowhere to go, the first thing Aurora did was to go search for help. As someone who was give a royal title, she knew many nobles. But there was one person, in particular, she treated differently. The boy she was to marry one day. The son of a Duke, Harrison Ascarot, who was three years older than her.

Now, she didn’t know him that well at that time. It had been about two years since their engagement was decided and they only met a handful of times. During those few times, she believed him to be kind and warm. Someone who didn’t care for power and was honest.

One day, at the academy she attended she was being scorned for being a Witch. She was used to it, but that time they were also saying horrible things about her mother. Saying ‘how dare a Witch seduces the Crown Prince and thinks she can become the future Empress’.

Shocked over this, she left the class holding back her tears. The moment she entered the courtyard behind the academy she started to cry. When the person she didn't want to see her like that the most appeared, she tried to hide her tears again. Her Mom always told her not to reveal her tears so easily in front of others.

“I heard what happened in class.” He said, sitting by her side on the bench.

Aurora thought maybe he was bothered because of her. Because she’s a Witch, and he’s her fiancé, he probably found it upsetting and her disgusting. “I apologize for causing you trouble, Sir Ascarot.”

His eyebrows raised in question. “We will be wed one day, Aurora. Please call me Harrison or Hal.”

“T-t-then…Sir Harrison.” She fumbled with her words, finding it difficult to call a man other than her Father by his first name.

He chuckled at her stubbornness. “I guess I can do with that for now…You didn’t cause me trouble.”

“Yes?”

“You apologized for causing me trouble, but you did not cause me any trouble.” He turned to her and said seriously. “No matter what the others say, you're not to be blamed for being a Witch. It’s who you are, and it should not be something to be ashamed of. Your powers are a gift and you should use it proudly.”

She was shocked when hearing him, the son of a powerful noble, say this. No one had never told her such a thing. Even her parents told her to be cautious and not to use her powers as a Witch thoughtlessly. Not only because it will cause the 'consuming' to become worse, but because others will fear her even more. And even though she wasn't as strong as other Witches, there were those who frowned upon her just for being the daughter of one of the strongest Witches.

She wanted to cry again when Harrison told her to embrace who she is. Yet, when she tried holding back again he took her hand in his. “You don’t have to hide your tears in front of me. If you need someone to talk to or a place to cry, come find me. I’ll always protect you.”

Aurora burst out in tears and clung to him, burying her head in his chest. Since that day, she considered him someone special. Someone different from her parents or her friends. And she believed he was someone she could trust.

But that trust was misguided, and she paid a price for it.

Her heart.
