While Beatrice Jeune had several freckles spread around and on her nose, it didn’t take away from her warm appearance.

With ginger short hair tied in a bun, it revealed her chiseled, lively face and beautiful gray eyes. Despite her slim frame, she was as strong as the other Knights.

“You’re the Knight who was able to pass that hellish training in just a month, right?”

Once the Rizar household recruits a Knight, before reporting for their first day, they must go through rigorous training for at least six months. If the Knight can survive the full six months, their instructor will assign them their post, based on their assessment.

The only way for a Knight to finish the training before the given time is if Captain or Vice Captain gives them a passing mark.

Not only did Keegan take just one month to get a passing mark, the Captain personally assigned him to the mansion.

“That’s me,” he replied.

Bea moved her eyes down towards his abdomen, which was fully visible as he wasn’t wearing a shirt. “Oho, no wonder.”

He raised his eyebrows with interest. It was his first time seeing a woman stare at his body so openly. "Like what you see?”

She smiled but didn’t answer him. “About what you asked earlier, you might not know since it’s your first day here, but that young lady running in the snow is our Duke’s distant cousin and fiancée, Aurora Isla.”

“Fiancée? Then, she is the future Duchess?”

"That's right," Bea grunted. "The idiots over there started betting how long she'd last when she first showed up, but now they are all googly-eyed over her."

Keegan watched Aurora still running. "Hmm..."

Thinking Keegan was also enchanted by their future Duchess, Bea moved in front of him to obstruct his vision.

“Whoa there, you better not look too long like those fools if you want to keep your eyes in your socket.” She pointed at the other Knight staring at Aurora with their mouths wide open. “She is out of your league, hot stuff.”

Hot stuff...?

It was also the first time anyone called him that. “That’s not it. I just thought that her eyes are pretty.” He said, tapping his eyes. “The eyes of a person reveals plenty about what type of person they are. Unwavering and resolute. Nobles with such eyes, make for a good master."

Beatrice pursed her lips. “So basically, she’s a good person!”

Keegan chuckled. “Right.”

“You should have just said that from the start!” She mumbled with an annoyed expression. “Then, what about me?” She stood on tiptoes to reach his height and blinked her eyes.

The Knight looked at her eyes for a few seconds.

“You’re just naughty, Beatrice.”

“N-n-n-naughty!" Bea blushed with embarrassment. She picked up the training wooden sword and pointed it at him. “I’ll show you naughty!!”

Keegan backed up and raised both hands. “Please spare me, Beatrice."

"I told you to call me Bea!"

"That's too informal for our first meeting, Beatrice."

"You!!" She waved her wooden sword in the air, aiming to hit his butt.

Before she could get a direct hit, he escaped. "Hahaha...you're funny, Beatrice!"

While the two were playing around, Aurora moved to the training field, following behind the blacksmith, Gaius. When he saw the two preparing to use the archery grounds, he was surprised.

The training field, separated into different grounds, can be used to practice various weapons.

“She does archery?”

Bea nodded her head. “Started three days ago. I also heard it was her first time.”

“Is that true?”

She shrugged her shoulders. “Should be. I saw her struggle with pulling the bow. What's amazing is how she shows progress every time she pulls the bow."

“Amazing, indeed. Her form is perfect,” Keegan said as he observed Aurora.

She spread her feet just enough, took the bowstring with her right hand, gripped the bow with her left, and faced the target. With her back straight and steady, she raised both arms in front of her body in a smooth movement. She slowly positioned the arrowhead to the center of the target. She used a perfect amount of strength as she pulled the bow back. Not too much, but not too little. With a twang sound, she released the arrow. While it did not hit the center, it was very close.

Keegan knew very well how difficult it was to stand still without moving. He also knew that it wasn't an easy feat to balance the amount of strength needed. Too much, and you'll stiffen, missing the target or overshooting. Too little, and the arrow will go in a different direction. And yet, she made it look so easy.

Her stance was straight and firm.

“You must be Sir Keegan and Dame Beatrice Jeune?” The voice of a male sounded behind them.

Keegan and Beatrice turned around quickly, both startled that they didn’t hear anyone approach them. As Knights, the acted in reflex and placed their hands on the hilt of their swords, preparing to draw it if necessary. But the moment they saw who it was, the two relaxed.

“Head Butler.” Bea nodded her head as a greeting. She spoke with Halon twice in the past and knew he wasn’t an ordinary man.

“The Duke wants to see you two. Follow me.” Halon turned around and started walking.

Without asking any questions, the two quietly followed behind Halon, but not before Keegan grabbed his shirt.

After Aurora finished her morning training, Lucius called for her to his office.

Since she was sweaty, she first washed up and changed into a simple blue dress. When Aurora knocked on the door, his voice sounded from the other side.

“Come in.”

The moment Aurora stepped inside, she spotted two unfamiliar Knight standing at the side.

“You came,” He said.

When the tone of voice became slightly softer when talking with her, the two Knights glanced at each other in surprise. It was as though that aloof person from earlier was nowhere to be found.

“This is Beatrice Jeune and Keegan. Beatrice has been a Rizar Knight for two years now. While she is only from a Baron Family, she’s one of the youngest and talented female Knights. And although Keegan only recently passed his Knight’s test, he is from the Caeinuut Tribes, known to have the strongest warriors.”

Caeinuut Tribes? She finally met someone from that place.

Aurora observed that Knight closely. His large build, that surpassed even Gaius, startled her for a second.

Lucius gestured towards Aurora while looking at the two Knights. “She is Aurora Isla, my fiancée.”

Aurora Isla.

When Lucius told her about how she will take his cousin’s identity, he let her decide the family name was going to use until she married him. Because their family was poor, they did not leave a record of their names.

Aurora didn't bother to take the time to think about it.

It was an easy decision.
