From then on, Aurora spent her days learning and training.
Her schedule didn’t leave any room for her to leisurely drink tea while watching the snow. This was a decision she made. While the servants worried for her, telling her she needed to at least have time to rest, Aurora refused and replied that the 3 to 4 hours she slept was enough for a rest.
Something inside her was telling her to hurry.
Gaius reminded her that this wasn’t a short-term training session. It was a lifelong training session that will only get harder as time goes by as she steadily improved. He told her he was only there to teach her the basics and that Aurora would have to one day continue on her own.
In the morning, before eating breakfast, she had to run five miles in the snow that tenaciously fell from the sky.
After breakfast, she started her strength training, which included chopping ten blocks of wood, doing 30 pushups with her arms, and holding two buckets of water, with one in each hand for an hour.
By the time lunch came around, she was too exhausted to lift her hands, but Aurora she didn’t have a choice if she wanted to eat.
Tanya offered to feed her, but Gaius ordered her not to. He told the twins that for her sake, she had to do it on her own. When Anya berated the blacksmith for being too hard on her, he said that the twins we’re underestimating Aurora.
After lunch, Gaius taught her what she wanted to know. The geography of the current world, other common sense, runes, etc.
Her first day ended with her falling face flat on her bed. Aurora complained to the twins about how a blacksmith, with a grin on his face, bullied her all day.
“That blacksmith…is a demon. How can he subject a frail young lady like me to such rigorous training? This is his retaliation for rejecting his offer, isn’t it?”
The twins glanced at each other, with worry etched on their faces. Aurora threw up twice. One was right after she ate lunch, and the second was after her strength training. She would have thrown up a third time if her stomach had any food left.
At first, they thought she’d quit after complaining all night. They didn’t understand why Gaius thought so highly of her, that she wouldn’t give up even after all this.
After all, she was only a young girl with no prior martial arts training besides knife throwing. That was a skill that didn’t require strength.
One the second day, during her run in the morning, she vomited on the side.
Hazy, confused, and weak in her legs, Aurora knew she would fall any second now. Even though it was freezing, sweat was pouring from her forehead, and her hands were clammy.
She fell to her knees and then finally face forward in the snow.
When the Knights saw this, not a single one moved. They stared at her with judging eyes. Even though their expressions were blank, she felt as though they were smirking at her.
Her vision turned blurry.
She considered listening to her body and give in to the exhaustion. Aurora wondered if she closed her eyes now and fell asleep, would she die here?
Just as her eyes slowly started to close, a pair of feet appeared in front of her. She didn’t have to look up to see who it was.
“This wasn’t part of the contract. Why?”
“It was…you promised…to provide whatever knowledge...I seek,” Aurora answered, with her teeth chattering from the cold. Even though she could have used the aura shield to protect herself from the cold, Gaius warned her that doing so would defeat the purpose of running outside.
“I don’t understand. Why are you pushing yourself so much?”
The low, deep voice asked her.

He wasn’t looking down on her hard work. He genuinely wanted to know what it is that made her want to become stronger.
“To live.”
“....To...live...” He slowly repeated her words. Still, this confused him. “I can provide you with what you need. Whatever you want. At least enough to live a life filled with luxury.”
“That’s no good.” She shook her head back and forth, again and again, rejecting his notion of living. “It’s not enough. No…” Both her hands clutched a handful of snow in her hands, showing her determination. With her arms trembling nonstop, she pushed herself up. When she was halfway up, with one leg planted firmly on the ground, she spoke again. “That’s not good enough.” She stood up all the way and faced those bright blue eyes that saw through her. “That isn’t living. That is a weakness!”
And it’s that weakness that caused others to sacrifice their lives for her.
She didn’t want any more of that.
She didn’t want to see it again.
This time, she will live with her own strength!
Aurora ran past him without looking back, leaving a trail of fog from her cold breath.
By the 9th day, she was able to run 5 miles without too much hardship. Unfortunately, Gaius soon increased it to 10 miles.

On the 11th day.
At dawn, on the training field, the Knights were out training before the sun even rose. Some were only starting while others were finishing up. What stood out were the Knights who gathered to stare at the beautiful young lady running, with drools from their mouth and blushes tinting their cheeks.
A brown-skinned Knight with short curly black hair and dark red eyes, who just finished his morning training, wiped the sweat from his face with a towel. While this man did stand out due to his rare skin color in the Empire, it was his large build and height that attracted attention and surpassed even the Duke and Captain Raya.
With one eye open, he glanced at the other Knights who were staring mesmerizingly at the lady running around the mansion. As she ran, her tied back single ponytail swayed back and forth.
“Who is that?” He pointed to the lady, as he asked one of the Knights who was looking at the others with her arms crossed, as she shook her head.
The female Knight glanced at him. “Oh, it’s the new guy! Your name is…?”
“Keegan.”
“Family name?”
Keegan shook his head.
“Oh? A commoner?”
“Is it rare?”
“Nah.” She grinned. “Not in the Rizar Knights, anyways.” The Knight held out her hand. “I’m Beatrice Jeune, call me Bea! Nice to meet ya!”
The two shook hands, not knowing that they will both soon share the same Master.
