“HUFF…HUFF…HUFFF…"
She couldn't breathe...
It was too much.
Griselda Enlil placed her hand over her throat.
What is that? That dark aura that seeped out of him...it was though he was a monster.
Yulia, who heard her shallow breathing, frowned in displeasure.
This didn’t matter to Griselda. She just wanted to turn tail and escape from her current predicament. The farther, the better. ‘Can they really not feel it?’ She questioned herself as she peeked at the man sitting on the couch with his legs and arms crossed.
It was as though his aura was darkness itself, even though his highest affinity was supposedly ice.
Griselda was distinctly sensitive to Lucius’ aura. She wasn't standing too close to him, but she could still feel it.
What she didn't know was that he wasn't doing it on purpose. If he did, not a single person would be able to stand without some form of support.
‘I really can’t understand why so many women are so rash. Wanting to become this dangerous man’s wife, were they not afraid of being killed by him?’ Griselda mumbled to herself. ‘Even this person…’ She glanced at Aurora. The moment she saw her, Griselda found herself entranced. It wasn’t just her outer appearance, but she could tell that this person did not let what others say or think about her affect who she is. “Beautiful…”
Although she nearly whispered that, the ladies there all heard her.
Yulia glared at her as though she wanted to hit Griselda, but she didn’t notice and continued looking at the girl by the Duke’s side. The heavy pressure from the Duke’s aura slightly lifted.
Feeling a person's gaze on her, Aurora turned to see who it was. Griselda blushed when their eyes met and looked back down at the floor.
Aurora was not the only one to notice Griselda. From the beginning, Griselda caught Lucius’ attention due to her behavior.
‘A hidden Witch?’
It took a moment for Lucius to figure out her identity. Marquis Enlil's only child, Griselda Enlil. Despite being the daughter of a Marquis she has little presence and barely attends any social gatherings, unless Earl Nolbeia's daughter tells her to. And since Lucius barely attended such celebratory events, he didn't notice her until now.
Those who can only feel his blood-thirsty aura when he was deliberately concealing it were either Witches or those with mana as strong as him.
While others believed that the last Witch was born more than 50 years ago, that was not exactly true. Many of the higher-ranked nobles knew that there might be those who hid their status as a Witch. The reason was to prevent being separated from their family and taken to the Holy Temple, or so that others could take advantage of their powers.
However, it was extremely difficult to hide this since every noble child has to register and go through their awakening at the Holy Temple at age eight. As for commoner children, the possibility of one being born as a Witch was close to zero.
That is why it was a rare occurrence for a Witch to hide from the Holy Temple. And for the daughter of a Marquis to successfully conceal it...Then it can only mean her mana has reached the borderline of becoming a Witch.
Lucius held his chin as he thought about it. She can be somewhat useful to his Dukedom.
Yulia sucked in a breath and continued to smile. She did not let the fact that they were ignoring her make her bitter and continued talking. "It has been a while since we have met, Your Grace...since that night." She said, with her cheeks flushed a bright pink color. The last three words insinuated a deeper meaning with her relationship with the Duke.
Of course, she did this on purpose.
When she wanted to say more, Lucius dangerously narrowed his eyes as he looked her way. Yulia saw this and closed her mouth. If she said anything more about that night, she felt that he would get rid of her right then and there.
The Duke glanced at Aurora, worried that she might misunderstand.
Yulia saw this and her lips twisted in a cruel smile. It seems as though he did not want the girl to know about their past.
She decided to change her target when she realized the conversation wasn’t progressing the way she wanted. “I’ve not had the pleasure of meeting Miss. I am Yulia Vel Nolbeia, 16 years old with an exceptional affinity for water. My mother is the Head of the Nolbeia House and the President of the only Blacksmith Association that presides over all blacksmith workshops in the Empire, Anvilus.”
Thinking that isn’t enough, she continued. “My eldest brother is Favion Vel Nolbeia, 1st Lieutenant in the Imperial Army, the Supreme Judge, and the third in charge of the Black Rizar Knights.” Yulia proudly raised her head. “And you are?”
“…..Aurora Isla.”

Yulia waited for her to continue, but she didn’t. “…”
She pursed her lips into a smirk and wanted to laugh out loud. Isla? She never heard of a large family with that name. And this Aurora person did not say anything about her affinity, which meant she probably only has a three-layered sigil like the commoners.
However, Aurora didn’t know that when ladies greeted each other for the first time, they usually at least revealed their affinities to each other in goodwill.
Well, even if Aurora knew, she would not have answered.
Revealing your abilities so easily to others?
Such a ridiculous notion, why would she follow it?
“I see. I have come to invite Lady Isla to join us ladies so we can get to know each other.” Yulia said, with no intention of hiding her haughty attitude.
Aurora didn’t say anything and lowered her eyes as she thought of something. A scene like this was very familiar to her. The ladies in High Society often invited those who just made their high society debut and were of a lower class to talk with them, only to insult them in the end. It was their way of making sure that person knew their place.
“Sure, it sounds fun,” Aurora replied with a shallow smile. She turned to Lucius and hugged his arm intimately. “Then, darling, I won’t be long now. So don’t get lonely without me!”
His mouth twitched, but without showing a change in expression, he nodded his head.
Aurora gracefully stood up. The way she carried herself made others think she was from a family with a long line of nobles. Her figure was a contradiction from her unseemly behavior earlier.
"How can she be so elegant when wearing such a simple dress? How lovely!"
The guests talked amongst themselves about the Duke's beautiful partner who overshadowed the Earl's daughter. While Yulia was also gorgeous, she had a more childish style, while Aurora's beauty was refined and mature.
When the five ladies all approached the table, without waiting for the others, Aurora sat down first. Helen, Molly, and Yulia looked at her with disdain. To sit before the host of this banquet was considered inappropriate behavior. Thinking the other guests would also scold her for her behavior they perked their ears.
But not a single guest said a thing. They were too busy admiring her charms.
Yulia’s eyes narrowed as she thought of something. She grabbed Griselda to pull her by her side and whispered in her ears. Griselda paled when she heard Yulia. She wanted to refuse, but she didn’t have the courage to stand against her. She could only go along with this irrational person.
Griselda stepped to the side to call a servant over. “P-p-please serve us h-hot t-t-tea…”
When the servant heard Griselda stutter over her words, he didn’t think anything of it. “Right away, young miss.” He hurried off to bring the five ladies tea, seeing as how it was for Lady Yulia’s table.
Yulia sat next to Aurora, while Helen and Molly sat on the other side.
The four ladies sat at the table, but one continued to keep standing. Aurora was curious why the girl who was staring at her earlier wasn’t sitting but didn’t say anything.
She already realized that Yulia Vel Nolbeia was up to something.
But Aurora wasn't angry, nor did she care to stop it.
Wanting to gain the attention and approval of others and the man you love, she was also once in that position. She couldn’t but be aware of how intense this noble lady’s feelings for Lucius was.
How cute. Naively so.
Seeing Aurora's calm and cold expression, Yulia was taken aback.
She wondered where that giggling, cheerful person from earlier disappeared to. Who was this indifferent lady in front of her? It reminded her too much of the Duke when he dealt with his enemies. This made her body tense with worry.
Still, Yulia Vel Nolbeia refused to give up with just this.
She will make sure this person disappears from Lucius Rizar's side!
