Currently in the Knight’s training field...
After completing her normal morning routine (running, strength training, and eating a full breakfast) Aurora Isla started practicing archery. But the usual bustling field was now so quiet that only the faint sound of breathing and the deafening whoosh from her arrows.
The number of Knights dwindled in batches over the past few days, leaving only a total of 12 brave souls.
Well, it wasn’t that they did not want to leave but lost the timing to do so.
Each time the 12 brave souls planned on leaving, a pair of fierce and dark eyes stopped them in their tracks.
“Oh, it seems like I still have something else to do…” One Knight ran to pick up a wooden sword.
“More training never hurts!!” Another Knight followed suit.
“I was on the brink of mastering a new technique….I will also stay behind!” He almost fell over as he hurriedly behind the two.
One by one, the Knights made excuses as they reluctantly continued training with tears falling to the side.
SWOOSH.
PLANK.
SWOOSH.
PLANK.
SWOOSH.
PLANK.
SWOOSH.
PLANK.
This was the sound of Aurora releasing her arrow and hitting the board in the center. It was the same sound that repeated over the next two hours.
Even with her entire body drenched in sweat, she gave off a charming appearance as she wore light and simple green and brown training clothes with her hair tied back in a ponytail.
Aurora reached for her next arrow, only to see the bin next to her empty.
Just as she finished her third set of arrows, everyone sighed in relief, only to groan the next moment when she reached for another.
The Knights all pleadingly stared at her two escorts standing by the side, Beatrice and Keegan.
Bea planned on stepping forward until Keegan grabbed her arm. He shook his no, telling her not to get involved.
“But I feel bad for ‘em. Don’t you?” She whispered.
“You’ll regret it.” It wasn’t a first for Keegan to witness such a sight. As someone who comes from a tribe of warriors, he watched many who entered a “zone” during training. They were either trying to breakthrough in their martial arts or were simply in a bad mood.
It was quite dangerous to break their focus during such a time.
“It’s fine, it’s fine. I will tell Miss to take a break and have tea and sweets. Even if she comes back later, it’ll give these guys a chance to make a run for it.”
Keegan let Bea’s arm go. “Fine, but don’t blame me. I already warned you.”
Bea ignored his remark and approached Aurora. She cleared her throat to make sure she spoke clear enough over the sounds of the flying arrows.
“My Lady, you should come rest and eat some of the sweets Halon prepared for you in the drawing r---” Before she could finish, an arrow came swooshing towards Beatrice, nearly missing her cheeks. Bea’s face drained of all color. “Nevermind.” She raised both her hands and stepped back towards Keegan.
“Told you…” Keegan smirked when he saw her expression.

“___” Bea hung her head in defeat.
A figure standing next to the window on the third floor looked down at the young lady training with the other Knights. Feeling a gaze on her, she turned her head to see the Duke watching her. Their eyes met but quickly retracted as both refused to greet each other.
The Knights gathered at the training field, and in the Duke’s office, all noticed this.
They could only sigh in resignation.
It started the day after the banquet.
The Nolbeia's Family reputation drastically changed overnight due to what happened. Gossip had already spread far and wide. What was even more shameful was how the Earl was forced to call for a Priest to heal Lucius' partner.
But then...
The servants noticed the strange tension between their Lord and his fiancée. For some reason, they started avoiding eating breakfast and lunch together. Things became even more awkward when the two would pass by coincidentally with neither saying anything to each other.
Aurora lowered her head, and with her lips pressed together she thought back to that night they returned from the banquet.
“Then, Your Grace.” Aurora lifted the corners of her dress courteously. "I bid you a good night."
Lucius wanted to reprimand her for how she addressed him but felt something was wrong and left it at that. He silently watched as she turned and walked up the stairs.
After Aurora took a bath and changed into a dark nightgown, she picked up a book Gaius gave her about archery and sat on her bed. Just then, a knock sounded at the door.
“We need to talk.”
When Lucius didn’t hear an answer, his brows furrowed. “I know you are not asleep. Anya told me you always read a book during this time.”
Hearing that, she puffed her cheeks in a pout at being found out. ‘That traitor!’
Anya, who was busy preparing for tomorrow in another room, suddenly felt a shiver run down her spine.
“Why are you avoiding me?” He asked her.
Closing the book in her hands, she placed it on the table next to her bed and stood up. “Your Grace is mistaken. How can I have the audacity to ignore the Lord of this mansion and the great Duke of Rizar?”
A low chuckle sounded through the door. While Aurora did not see his face, she imagined that Lucius had his eyebrows and lips raised in a smirk.
Click.
The door opened with a click, and he strode in without showing a speck of shame. When he stopped in front of Aurora, he traced her body from top to bottom with his eyes.
“Audacity? After you voluntarily climbed on my lap three times, including the courage to humiliate the Earl's daughter at her Coming of Age Ceremony, I have come to learn that you have plenty, and I am sure much more.”
“......” Was he calling her reckless in a roundabout way? “It wasn’t three. It was two.” Aurora mumbled without thinking.
“Oh? To think you remember that the first time wasn’t you climbing on me but pulling me to climb over you.”
“You---!!” Aurora’s cheeks blushed a faint red. “You’re the one barging into a young lady’s room in the middle of the night!” She placed her hand on her forehead. “How did you come in? Halon told me that only the twins have the key.”
“Locked or not, there is no such door that will deny me access in my home.”
…She felt a sense of déjà vu. Didn’t he say that before?
"Is that so? If no one is allowed any privacy, then maybe I should lea---"
"W-wait!" Lucius held up one hand to stop her from continuing. "I will knock on the door from here on out."
Aurora's lips lifted in a grin with victory.
