“How are you feeling now?" Hal asked her with a soft voice. "The Doctor said your fever has subsided. Still, you’ve been in bed so many days so you’re bound to feel unwell for a while.”

When she didn’t answer him and seemed to be in a daze, he was annoyed that she ignored him. But he didn't let it show and asked her about her wellbeing again. When she still didn’t say anything, his eyebrows scrunched. “Aurora?!” He raised his voice slightly.

“Hal?” Aurora stared at the man holding her hand and gasped. “I’m so sorry! It’s just…I realized what my ability is…”

Hal’s eyes shined brightly in delight. Finally, his patience was paying off. He pretended as though he didn't care and didn't rush to ask her. “We’ll talk about that later. We must first have the maids help you wash up and bring you nutritious food.”

"Mhm." She nodded her head.

Her features softened when she thought about how attentive Hal was towards her. Others would have pestered her for information about her ability, and yet he was more anxious for her to get better.

After washing up and eating, Aurora was the first to approach the subject when she saw Hal had no intention of doing so. “I think I can see what happens in the future.”

'See the future?' Hal narrowed his eyes while in thought. He was disappointed. He thought her ability would be an Explosive type since she used up so many magical artifacts.

There are three types of special abilities a Witch can awaken.

The first type is known as Elemental. As the name suggests, it usually falls under one of the elements and is considered very strong. Although humans can also use element magic, they are much weaker and more limited than a Witch.

A Witch with the Elemental type ability can kill thousands from a far distance in under a few minutes. Depending on how powerful they are, destroying a country or two is as easy as lifting a finger.

The second type is called Reinforcer. This ability allows a Witch to reinforce their body, and focuses mainly on protecting themselves and sometimes others as well.

And the last one is called Perception. This falls under mental and psychic abilities. Although it is not very strong, it can be useful in certain situations. Hal once heard a rumor about an assassin who could teleport instantly and kill their targets.

Aurora's ability is the Perception type.

“Hal?” Aurora called out anxiously. Was he upset?

Hal saw the doubt in Aurora's eyes and paused. He couldn't let her be suspicious of him. “I was thinking about how difficult it must be for you."

She smiled happily. In the end, he was thinking about her. “It’s a bit baffling. I keep seeing things happen twice before my very eyes. It makes it difficult to know what’s real or not.”

“I see…” Now that he thinks about it, if she had an Elemental ability it would be very difficult to use her while keeping her hidden. By seeing the future, she can support him from behind the scenes and make sure he didn’t make any mistakes. No. Why think small? Heh. Maybe he can even become a King? Or the next Emperor?

“Then, I will help you control it.”

His eyes were glowing with malevolence as he thought about what prospects this woman can bring to his future. He’ll make sure to squeeze every drop from her, and when she dried out, he’ll get rid of her.

Aurora, unaware of his ulterior motives, was truly grateful for Hal in helping her.

“This is the Captain of the Knights serving me and my childhood friend, Coux Fermion. His little sister was a Witch with a Perception type ability, and I'm sure he can be of use.”

Coux stared at the girl with a cold, expressionless gaze. To him, Witches should all be disposed of, as his sister was. But seeing as how his friend was interested in using her, he could only comply.

“Starting today, I’ll be the one training you. I expect you to follow all my orders.”

Train her? She didn’t like how it sounded as if she’s one of his soldiers. But she didn’t show any disrespect and introduced herself.

His voice sounded very familiar, but she didn't bother thinking about it anymore. She probably met him before in the Palace.

“The Young Master has told me about your ability. Although it sounds nice at first, there are several problems. First, you can’t activate your ability on your own. Second, you can only see a few seconds into the future. Third, we don't know how often you can get a vision in a day. And forth, you can’t even tell the difference between reality and your ability.” Just saying it, tired him out. Really, he was irked at how useless she is. “There are also many more things we need to figure out. We need to understand your limits and conditions. To do this, we need to put you under immense pressure.”

Aurora was scared about this. Will she really be fine without the guidance of a Witch?

She followed Fermion and Hal to the training field for Knights. It was currently empty. Following their instructions, she stood in the middle of the field.

"The attribute of my mana is Earth. I would have used earth pebbles since it's easier, but with the curse, this will have to do." Coux pointed at the device he attached to his arm. "This is a modified crossbow that can use up to six arrows at the same time. Many of our Knights use this practice their footwork and agility. You will dodge the incoming arrows using your foresight."

What? Use her as a target? And with...arrows? Didn't he just want to kill her?!

Seeing her blood drain from her face, Coux tried his best to reassure her. After all, if she gave up too fast, it wouldn't be good. He wanted the Young Master to quickly see how useless she was, and that it would be better to just turn her in. "Don't worry, I've replaced the heads with a blunt piece. I will also start slow and adjust my speed accordingly.”

That...didn't help at all! She became even more frightened.

Growing up being spoiled by her parents and as a Princess, Aurora spent her days with leisure. The only thing that was required of her was to not bring shame to the royal family. And thus, she was given only two separate instructors. One taught her etiquette, while the other taught her various subjects, such as History and Math. Her Mother, as a Witch herself, was the one who guided her in using mana.

Ultimately, because she didn't have any talent with mana like Hal, she barely had any experience fighting with others.

Seeing her blanch at his words, he scoffed. As he thought, she was incompetent. “Although it'll hurt if it hits you..."

Aurora wanted to roll her eyes in response. Of course, it would hurt!

"At least it will not cause permanent damage or kill you.”

His words were far from reassuring!

Fermion held out his right hand and a single arrow released, aiming straight for her leg. When she was able to dodge successfully, she smiled.

Maybe this will be easy after all? She thought to herself proudly. Before she could gloat to Hal, the second arrow hit her side and she felt a sharp, biting pain. “Ack! It hurts!”

Without warning the third hit her leg, leaving a purple bruise. Before he sent out the last two, she already fell on her butt, groaning. She glared at Fermion. “I wasn’t even ready! You didn’t give me enough time to concentrate!”

“Concentrate?” He narrowed his eyes, showing a horrifying smile enough to freeze her in place. “You should be able to see the future without having to. A Perception type Witch uses their ability as a third arm. They don’t have to think to use it. Don’t blame your lack of strength. The speed of the arrow was slow enough that even a child could dodge it. Your determination is even weaker than that of a newborn!”

Aurora was dismayed by his scolding. She turned to glance at Hal, only to see him looking at her in disappointment. Her heart thumped in fear at being discarded by him. She pushed herself to stand back up and faced Fermion.

She refused to let him say she’s weak again!
