Aurora sat in her chair as she flipped through the book for the Fundamentals of Magic Theory class. Of course, it was the only class she truly looked forward to attending.
She never thought that besides Rune Magic, there was a little about Spirit Magic in the book, despite humans being unable to use it anymore.
As Aurora read through the Summoning and Familiar section, she felt a pair of eyes observing her.
“Is there something you would like to say, Anya?” She asked without looking up.
Anya flinched, startled by the sudden question.
She wanted to answer 'yes!' immediately but held back due to the discussion she had with her elder sister before leaving the mansion.

“Listen. Obey. Don’t ask.”
"...Why? The Lady said that she sees us as sisters. Is it wrong?"
Tanya sighed.
She knew this would happen. When Lucius took them in, it was Anya who first opened her heart to him. She became too attached. And this time is the same.
“Master is family too, but did you forget about what happened that day? As battle maids, we must draw a line. Do you always ask Master why when he gives an order?”
Anya’s expression changed from shocked to depressed.
Anya understood. Of course, she understood.
"Work and adoration should be cleanly separated, right?"
"Right." Tanya patted her little sister's head.

Still, Anya wanted it to be different with the Lady. Or rather, she wanted it to be different. She wanted to be closer to her. “C-can I ask you something, My Lady?”
Aurora finally looked up from her book. She wondered since when did Anya, the younger sister of the twins, become so timid?
'This won't do.'
The twins are vital trump cards she needed for her plans in the future. Tanya is a little difficult to order, but Anya is simple. If you show her goodwill, she will become even more loyal.
Aurora smiled. “Is there any need for such formalities between family?”
Anya’s eyes glittered with tears. “Yes!”
“Then, what is it that you want to ask?”
Anya wiped her tears. While apologetic for ignoring her sister's warning, she was happy.
“Yes. I heard from Dame Beatrice about what happened earlier. Have you met the Princess from the Ignis Kingdom before?"
"Why do you think so?"

Anya lowered her eyes as she thought about her answer.
"Dame Beatrice said that your expression at that time was scary, but it looked as though you were having fun."
Aurora's lips lifted into an amused smirk. "Beatrice said this?"
"Yes. Dame Beatrice might seem like a troublemaker at first glance, but she is quite attentive at such things."
"...I see. I will keep that in mind." Aurora wrote a mental note to herself that she should be more careful around Beatrice in the future.
"To answer your question, I have not met the Princess before, but she will be quite useful to use as bait to entice my target out from hiding."
Anya shivered in fright.
While Aurora said this, there was not a single change in her emotion or tone. And this is what frightened her. It was the same as Lucius.
To him, using others to get what he wants is considered normal. He didn't think anything about it.
"I see..."
"Is that all?" Aurora was aware of how Anya reacted to her words, but she did not bother clearing up the misunderstanding. While not the whole truth, ultimately, she did plan on using the Princess to reach her goal.
'Her name, at least.'
Anya stayed silent for a few seconds and shook her head. "Lady Enlil…I was wondering if there is a reason My Lady wants to befriend her?”
Aurora tilted her head. “Why do you think there is a reason?”
“Well, there are rumors that Griselda Enlil is submissive towards Yulia Vel Nolbeia, despite coming from a higher-ranked family.”
Anya sighed. “I can’t fathom how such a person was raised in a Marquis Family. She is too faint-hearted, and I feel she will be worthless to My Lady."
“Hah.” Aurora chuckled. “Yes, I agree.”
Aurora placed her book on the table. She folded her hands on her legs as she faced Anya. "
Aurora held twin fingers up. "There are two reasons I find her to be quite useful for. The first is something Lucius caught onto before I did. During the banquet, he realized how she was the only one who had some level of resistance towards his aura.”
“Yes??!” Anya exclaimed in a shocked manner. “H-how…?”
“I'm not sure yet. She isn’t a Witch, but her mana is indeed on par with Lucius. She is either hiding the fact that she has powerful mana or does not know. I can not imagine it is the second reason, seeing how every child must go through their awakening at the Holy Temple. Either way, Griselda Enlil is someone the Rizar Duchy can not afford to lose."
“Even if her mana is as powerful as my Lord, as she is now, she will not be of any help."
Aurora shrugged her shoulders. "Correct. After all, talent is not omnipotent. She has a long way to go. However..." Aurora glanced at Anya. "Cowardice is a trait that can be tamed."
Aurora knew very well how cowards are easy to use and easy to dispose of.
After all, she experienced it firsthand.
