Lillian's arm started trembling.
Her nails started to grow longer and she could feel the bulging power rush through her body. An image of her grabbing the neck of the woman in that room flashed through her thoughts.
...The feeling of snapping that pretty small neck of hers made a sense of pleasure wash over her. Without even knowing, killing had already become such a regular habit for her that she no longer considers it abnormal.
But, no.
'Now is not the time.'
Lillian took a deep breath and put on a smile. "I wonder if you can tell me how Lucius is recently?"
Aurora raised an eyebrow.
'She's calling him without honorifics?'
"My darling is doing exceptionally well. Why not come and visit him?"
Lillian lowered her eyes as despair washed over her. "I dare not visit the home of a gentleman that is married-to-be on my own."
"...Is that so?"
Aurora opened the door to the compartment and came out wearing her horseback riding clothes. She had her hair tied back in a ponytail and wore a simple black vest, pants and boots outfit. When she pulled on her fingerless gloves, Aurora gave off a different kind of charm that made it difficult to look away.
“I don't see how it is a problem, though? The Princess from the Ignis Kingdom came to visit Lucius a few times."
Lillian slightly frowned, with her brows scrunched and her mouth formed into a straight line. "...What?"
Aurora smirked.
When it comes to ladies born in Noble families, their principles of relationships were different.
A woman engaged to a man she is living with despite being related, or a woman with a high social status visiting to discuss marriage...which is the priority?
Of course, that's a lie.
If it was the Knight Lillian, she would have probably seen through Aurora's lie. However, this person in front of her has lost all the confidence and pride of a Knight.
"Ah!" Aurora placed her index finger on her chin. "Now that I think about it, I heard rumors that the Princess came to the Empire to build a connection through marriage. But why did she reject attending the Academy at the Imperial City and come here...?"
The woman living with the man, while worrying, is not too concerning, as she is also from a low Noble family. Their engagement is probably to an arrangement made with the family and not due to affection. But if left alone, those emotions can take shape.
However, a woman with a high social status who is seeking marriage is dangerous. Especially if marrying her can bring many benefits. Because this type of marriage is not only approved and considered normal by high society, it is a marriage the Emperor would happily assent to and give his blessing for.
That's right, it’s the Princess from a foreign land that should be the most troublesome.
“My husband-to-be seems to be visiting her more lately.”
The indifference from earlier was nowhere to be seen. Without saying another word, Lillian turned around and left.
Aurora quietly watched her back as she left while in deep thought.

"Anya," Aurora called out softly.
In the empty space behind Aurora, the young battle maid appeared as if from thin air.
"Yes, My Lady."
"What is that?" Aurora pointed at a small mysterious liquid on the floor.
Anya bends her knees to get a closer look. She dipped two of her fingers in the liquid, and rubbed them together, and moved it to her nose.
"Sniff. Sniff." She widened her eyes when she realized what it was. "Blood."
"Blood?" Aurora could not believe her ears. "What kind of blood is black?"
Anya stood up and took out a handkerchief to wipe her fingers. "It is black blood found from the beasts in the Corrupted Region. And only from the mutated beasts, My Lady."
"...I see." While Anya was a little naïve compared to her elder sister, her skills as a battle maid and a former assassin was trustworthy. That's why she did not doubt her for a single second.
Anya observed Aurora's expression. "Should I report to His Grace about this?"
Lillian Lancaster.
She didn't even react to her brother's name. It seems like the only person that will move her is Lucius.
And for him...she has become something not human.
"No. Not yet."
While Aurora has no idea why Lillian hasn’t done anything to her yet, but with a little push, there is no way she would let her or the Princess go.
Not only that, but Aurora made sure to build a hostile relationship with the Princess earlier. With this, Lillian can't help but think that Aurora is wary of the Princess due to her seeking marriage with Lucius.
Now then, what will happen to the Princess when Lillian can no longer hold back her jealousy?
"Continue protecting me in secret for now. And no matter what happens next, you are not allowed to interfere." While maids were allowed to enter classes with their master, Aurora had Anya hide her presence so it can seem as if she was alone.
Anya hesitated at first, but after recalling the instructions master gave her before leaving the mansion, she nodded her head.
"From henceforth, you will obey her words over mine. Protect her well."
Anya's aura vanished without a trace, but not before she left parting words. "Please call me if you need me."
Seeing this, Aurora made her way to the archery field.
For a hunter to catch its prey, the hunter places bait in plain view. And unable to endure the temptation, the prey will eventually make a mistake.
This is something Aurora learned as the former Crown Princess of the Empire.
Amongst the deep-seated conspiracies and betrayals in and outside the palace, it was a common occurrence.
