Chapter 79: Making waves

The first person to enter the makeshift stall was a thin child with a dog that was having trouble breathing. alastair watched as the small child reached into a their coat and pulled out a few coins with a resolved look. "the rest says he can't be saved , can you help him?" the child asked with a pitiful tearful look. jade walked over to the dog and placed her hand on its side and inhaled. a sort of brown smoke rose from the dog and entered her mouth before she was finished and removed her hand.

The dog was breathing steadily showing it's recovery as the child burst into tears and hugged it. the dog got up and licked the child face before barking to show that it was fine. the child and dog left after thanking alastair and jade happily which drew some curious eyes. after that some of the more desperate people with no hope entered the stall to try their luck. once these people left it didn't take long for rumors to spread of the "miracle" stall near the port. the group closed up once it started to get dark and headed back to the ship.

Alastair's plan paid off as on the way to the ship they were stopped by three people. the three men were far too unique looking to be some random nobodies. indeed they politely introduced themselves as members of whitebeards crew before asking about the rumors of the method jade used to heal the people she treated. jade explained how she ate a devil fruit that gave her the ability to devour the diseases of others. the whitebeard crew members didn't look all that surprised since such a thing is far from the weirdest power granted by a fruit.

The crew members asked if jade would be willing to heal their pops (whitebeard) and said they were sure that they would be well rewarded. jade and alastair shared a look before telling the crew members that they would decide after meeting the man himself since it was hard to tell with pirates whether they were good or not. the crew members looked conflicted but said they understood and that they would pass the message along. before the crew members left alastair told them that they would be anchored of the coast of alabastra should they agree.

With alastairs plan in motion he sailed towards alabastra to wait for the inevitable arrival of whitebeard. the trip took a few weeks during which time panic spread through the grandline as in the first time in a long time whitebeard himself seemed to be moving. at the same time news of jades disease curing powers reached the world government and agents were sent out with the goal of either having her join them or capturing her to killing her if those options failed. what the people didn't know was that alastair was surprised with a quest from the system labeled "world quest" that warned him about the order.

This was one of the changes that happened when the system had updated years past that had been hidden until now. according to the system a world quest was a quest that was world specific instead of person specific. this meant that they only activated when certain conditions were met in whatever world he was in at the time. for one piece the conditions were to influence the worlds fate a certain amount as well as enter conflict with either the pirates or the world government as a whole.

Alastair could tell that this was one of those things that had multiple ways of starting as well as ending. this meant that his worries about destroying the world by meddling were unfounded since he created ripples in the world just by existing. alastair was wondering about the changes he made already with the life saving gift he gave to ace previously , but with some deeper thought he figured out that the conflict that would have happened would only happen far in the future making the world quest stay dormant until that moment. a wide smile crossed alastairs face once he found himself free from this worlds fate.

Once the ship was anchored off the coast of alabastra the group had to find a way to pass the time until whitebeard showed up. marina and alastair looted the plethora of sunken ships near the coast from marine battles earning quite the hefty amount of gold , jewels and silver. jade stayed on the ship to train her new abilities while spider explored making new dishes with the stuff alastair and marina dredged up from the sea. alastairs favorite was the fire coral braised pork.
