I chuckled, slowly loosening my stance to indicate I was friendly, or at least non-hostile. "Hmmm… I'm not sure how you Martial Artists make friends, but I'm pretty sure tailing and attacking them isn't how people often do it." Generic Guy A sighed tiredly, pushing away strands of hair from his vision as he approached me. "I apologize for my… Subordinate's actions. It wasn't our intentions to provoke you. As you can see, he isn't exactly the most reliable subordinate thanks to his hotheadedness. Please, forgive him Magnum-san."

I raised my. "Call me Leo, please." Seriously, Magnum-san? It sounded so retarded compared to Mr. Magnum. "Very well then, Leo-san. As I've said, we are here to establish a partnership with you, but I–" I interrupted him with a loud snort. "And why was it necessary to tail me, Mister…?" Right, I hadn't learnt his name, had I? Couldn't keep calling him Generic Guy A either. "I'm Sasaki Kenji, but you can refer to me as Sasaki." I nodded, tapping my feet impatiently. "I won't waste anymore of your time, Leo-san. Truth is, us Martial Artists don't like partnering with most Mages.

The reason for that is quite simple, I'm sure you are aware of Mages' dedication to their Crafts and the… Murderous tendencies that often follow. I will admit, we aren't the perfect example of morality and goodness, but there are things even we won't do, bottom-lines we won't cross and rules we won't break, all of which have been crossed, broken and violated by the majority of Mages. That's why we tailed you, we had to make sure you weren't another over-zealous Magus… Which, given your current attitude towards us in spite of our altercation, I'm having a decent feeling about."

Made sense. To most Mages, as long as they could further their Crafts, there were no line too immoral to cross, no act too heinous to perform. "Alright, you have my attention…" I began to walk away, gesturing at the bunch of Martial Artists who looked confusedly at me. "What are you guys waiting for? Follow me, if we are having a business meeting, we can't do it in the middle of nowhere, right? That's not very professional." I continued on my way, certain that they would follow. Well, it took them a while, but they did end up chasing after me.

Although, I did hear shouts and screams aimed at Bakugou, who to his credits, took the thinly-veiled insults like a champ.

I had already chosen our destination. There was a coffee shop near the Church, near enough that I could make a strategic retreat if things turned out badly. Pretty sure I had used up my luck for this encounter. Just when I was wondering where I could get my greedy hands on more Martial Manuals, these people came. Yes, I did get something from that Satou dude in Kyoto, but after having read his Manual, I concluded it was pretty shit. Sure, there were the usual grandeur names, phrases and words straight out of a Chinese Xianxia utilized by the author of the book, but even a blind man could see its quality wasn't good.

I was ready to bleed these Martial Artists dry. With my Magecraft temporarily on hold, I had to distract myself with something else and I just happened to be quite taken with the idea of learning Martial Arts– Especially fictional ones from my once favorite manhwa: The Breaker. It's a pretty nice read, 8/10, would recommend for anyone looking for a story with an urban setting. The protagonist was kind of disappointing at first though, but he did get better in later chapters. Real shame I couldn't finish it before my suicide, since it was on hiatus last I checked.

"Here we are, Ahnenerbe–" I whispered discreetly, as though telling some great secrets. "I'm telling you, they make the best coffee you can find in Fuyuki, possibly the World." The group, again, seemed confused at that, but entered with me anyways. "Hey there George, can you get me a cappuccino, a crostata and…" I  looked at the group, signaling for them to order and they gladly obliged, or rather, Sasaki obliged. "Black coffees for all of us, thank you." George gave me a thumb-up, leaving for the pantry as we took seats. "So, what might this partnership include?"

"Well…" Sasaki started. "We will pay you for anything we might need, give you the materials even, in return you help us make Artifacts–" I cut in. "It's Mystic Codes, not Artifacts, Sasaki-san. And, when you said your organization would pay me, I'm assuming you mean money?"

Sasaki confirmed. "Yes, is that not what you need? Surely your research requires a huge amount of money, money I believe we can easily supply you with." I shook my head laughingly, these motherfuckers really thought they could pull a fast one on me, didn't they? "I think you're misunderstanding something, Sasaki-san. While I do require money, I can always make more by doing missions for the Clock Tower, what I'm interested in is Martial Arts. Preferably in the form of manuals and books related." His eyes narrowed at that, arms crossing as his subordinates shifted uncomfortably in their seats.

"Don't be too greedy, Leo-san. While we do want your partnership, we aren't that desperate. Not to mention, what would you even do with our manuals? They are useless to Mages. If you want to research them, then we might as well end things here, we don't have a habit of wasting precious resources for dead Mages, resources that can otherwise be allocated to more important projects." His voice hardened, almost spatting out the word 'dead'. But, I knew I had him by the balls. How I knew, I wasn't sure, call it a guts' feeling. "Sasaki-san, I wasn't the one looking for you, you were looking for me…"

Damn, those negotiation lessons with Rin sure did wonders. "An entire organization mobilizing a group of Martial Artists to track down one Magus, especially one as young as me asking for partnership?" Sasaki tried to speak, but I quickly stopped him as I leaned against the padded chair. "You found me thanks to information provided by Satou, I believe?" My question was answered by a curt nod. "That's mere weeks ago… Within that short amount of time, you have not only managed to locate, but also send a group after me. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but that seems pretty fucking desperate, no?"

I threw my hands up animatedly. "Normally, I'd have been content with money alone, but your mad dog over there–" I pointed at the Martial Artist version of Bakugou as I continued, smirking when I saw him bristle angrily. "– Has soured my opinions of your organization. Make no mistake, Sasaki-san, I do not need you to get my hands on more manuals, but for whatever reasons, you all seemed to need me." I stressed, interlocking my fingers like a two bits villain. Sasaki didn't reply for a while, which wasn't too unexpected of him. We sat like that, in complete silence for minutes, trading gazes and challenging looks before he finally broke.

"Y– You are right, we do need you." He paused, seeming hesitant to explain further, but ultimately folded. "Our rival has somehow managed to gain the cooperation of another Magus, he or she has been making them… Mystic Codes in the last couple of weeks. It would have been fine if it's only a few, but now even the grunts of Ragnarok also have weapons that light themselves on fire, or are coated with deadly curses." His eyes sharpened. "We are allowed to pay as high a price as we need by the higher-ups, as long as we can secure your cooperation, but that's money only."

Sasaki let out an exhausted sigh. "You must understand, Martial Arts are our greatest strength and deadliest weapons. We simply can't give you them until we are sure we can trust you. Even then, something of this magnitude must be vetoed by our higher-ups." He wiped the sweats that had gathered on his forehead. "So, name your price. We will relay the information to our superiors, then contact you when they have decided on whether or not we can work with each other."

I rested my head, knees deep in thoughts. I could make Mystic Codes, elemental ones were especially easy to make, slap a few runes on them and you should be good. Though, supplying Mystic Codes for an entire organization didn't sound plausible. "Hmmm, tell me, how many members do you have and how much Mystic Codes do you actually need? Just give me a number, I'll see what I can do." Sasaki played with his hands, face expressionless, but I could almost smell the nervousness wafting from his direction.

"My apology, Leo-san. But, we aren't allowed to tell our numbers to others, not even to those in our organization… What I can tell you though, is that we need as many as we can get our hands on, and we are willing to pay high prices for them." So, a few dozens per week maybe? Assuming their rival had the same number as them, then there shouldn't be more than one or two hundred members. How did I get this statistic? Simple, no Mages would waste time making thousands of disposable Mystic Codes. Frankly, two-hundreds were already a rather unrealistic number.

"Very well, I'll supply you with three Mystic Codes per week, in return, I want at least one manual, an introduction book to the basics of Martial Arts and seventy-five thousands Yen for each shipment." Sasaki grimaced, paling fast as he struggled to keep his composure. "T– This is… Can the price be re-negotiated, Leo-san?" That wasn't unexpected of him, while the money was horribly inefficient for the task, the manuals and knowledge I would gain would make up for any losses I might take. "Yes, but I can assure you, any negotiations from this point onwards will only be in my favor."

I crossed my legs, gazing at the working high school girls dressed in black and white maid uniforms– Hibiki Hibino and Chibaki Katsuragi. I had met the two plenty of times, seen them in their school uniforms that I'd swear did not match any other high school's within Fuyuki. They were nice people, like Rin, Chibaki was kind of a tsundere, but unlike Rin, she could get very physical if she felt the need to. Both were pretty in their own ways, though none was my type, which meant they had been automatically relegated to 'friends' and 'acquaintances'.

I turned to Sasaki, adding. "Oh and, you will supply me with the materials such as: Staffs, swords or anything you might want to turn into Mystic Codes." Finished, I returned to watching my nails. Perhaps Ahnenerbe was the wrong choice after all, seeing as I could really use a cigarette at the moment. It's not even because I was nervous, I just wanted something to do to alleviate my growing boredom. "Fuck! I'm not sitting here and let this little shit extort us! You wanna go, you fucking extra? If I win, you will magick us as many weapons as you can, if I lose–"

I immediately cut in before the hotheaded blonde could finish. "Alright, I'mma stop you right there. Firstly, I'm the one with the upper-hands here, I don't have to do anything." I stressed, pausing to scowl at him. "Secondly, you are a subordinate and a tag-along at best, you have no powers to make bets and promises you will have no way to fulfill." Which was true, Bakugou Katsuki wasn't leadership material, with his personality, he could at most be a glorified peacock in almost every situation. "And lastly, insult me again and the deal is off the table… Forever. Do you understand, you dimwit?"

Bakugou was about to explode in rage when we were interrupted by Hibiki approaching. Our orders had come just in time. "Here you go, five black coffees and one cappuccino." She set our drinks down, then threw me a discreet wink, to which I could only smile in response. The three people running this coffee shop each had their own methods to deal problematic customers, I had found Hibiki's to be best. Chibaki would insult them until they ran out crying, George had this weird aura thing that made everyone in his immediate radius uncomfortable, then there was Hibiki, who would defuse the situation with well-timed interruptions.

"Thank you for the drinks, Hibiki-san." I sipped my cappuccino and continued. "Please, tell George he has done a wonderful job with the coffees as always."

"You're welcome, Leo-chan. I'll tell George you said that. Despite his rather intimidating look, he's actually very happy when complimented for his cooking and brewery, you know?" We kept trading pleasantries, completely ignoring the group of Martial Artists next to us. It's then that Sasaki decided this was enough and stood up carefully. "If you would excuse us, Leo-san." He nodded to me. "I will relay your… Demands to our superiors, but for now, I believe we have overstayed our welcome." Afterwards, he paid for the coffees that they hadn't even touched and left, pulling the indignant Bakugou with him.

"They aren't your friends, I'm guessing?" I shook at Hibiki's question. "No, they are not. More like potential business associates." Some might find it weird that I was so straightforward with the girl, but trust me, a child doing business with people twice, if not thrice his age wasn't even the oddest thing you could find in Ahnenerbe. It's the reason why I preferred this shop for business matters, as opposed to others that had been growing in numbers in recent days. And despite their innocent looks, both Chibaki and Hibiki were aware of the Supernaturals long before our first meeting.

To be honest, that didn't bother me nearly as uch as it should, since it would have been hard to remain oblivious when you were surrounded by citizens of the Moonlit World almost everyday of the week. "Ahhh… This shop really does make the best coffee." I should probably bring Rin to this place in our next outing, the girl was really missing out.

"Did something good happen, your Highness? You seem to have more skips in your steps." Hmmm, was I that obvious? Nah, it couldn't be, Kotomine was just too observant. "Well, for your information, something good did happen…" While we hadn't agreed on anything, I was certain the unnamed organization would contact me within a week at most. My assumption was further reinforced by [Future Calculation], which told me the odds were in fact overwhelmingly in my favor. Indeed, sooner or later they would contact me, and I would be able to test whether the Game could bridge the gap of the two Worlds.

Who knew, maybe I could even replicate it on others once I figured out what exactly caused the disharmony between Mana and Ki. "I won't ask, though next time, please keep on schedule, I don't have all day to wait for you, your Highness." Ah, that's right. I had combat training with Kotomine this afternoon, didn't I? Oops… "Sorry for that, but it's not like you have anything going on, right? All you do everyday is skulk around the Church like a goblin anyways." Kotomine's eyes narrowed dangerously at my statement. "That's not a nice thing to say to someone, Prince Leo."

I shrugged back. "Yeah, it's rude, but is it untrue?" The priest didn't speak, knowing full-well I was correct in my assessment of his daily routine. Although, he didn't seem pleased about it from the looks of things. I had no doubt he would try to take revenge in our upcoming session, but I wasn't Leo of the past. I had been blooded and baptised by the deaths of countless abominations. Coupled with my newfound Spell: [Dimensional Rifts], I'd surely win! "I hope you're ready, your Highness. I won't hold back this time…" Wait, wait, abort mission! I'd die, I'd really die!

The only reason I was able to contend against him, despite the unfair advantages his height and fully-grown body offered was thanks to him holding back. If he didn't, I'd get my teeth kicked in for sure! "Uhmm… T– That's not fair, isn't it?" I questioned meekly, to which Kotomine just smirked, his stare boring into my soul. "Perhaps, but your enemies won't fight fair. Besides, it's about time you learn your words have consequences, your Highness." Ah shit, this wasn't good, not at all? Damn me and my loud mouth… Although, perhaps I could throw the fight?

I followed him dejectedly into our training room.

Gilgamesh, who was busy nibbling on her dango stick trailed behind with the same infuriating smirk she often wore. Eyes glistening with amusement. That's new, usually she didn't bother with our sparring session. "Do amuse me, Kotomine." She raised a toast at the priest, then looked at me. "Do try to keep up, mongrel." I deadpanned at the two, feeling my veins throb angrily on my forehead. "You guys planned this, didn't you?"

"I don't know what you're talking about, your Highness." – "Don't think so highly of yourself, mongrel." Yep, these two definitely planned this. For what reason, I didn't know. Maybe they felt I was getting too arrogant? This sucked, now I felt obligated to win the fight, or at least reach a draw with Kotomine. My self-esteem might be horribly low, but I couldn't blatantly throw the fight when Gilgamesh was watching. Don't get me wrong, she wouldn't murder me for something so trivial, but losing in front of a pretty girl felt bad regardless of circumstances. "Let's just get this over with…"

"Same rules as always?" Kotomine bobbed his head, hands already clutching his Black Keys as I summoned my rapier, watching in fascination as the blade gleamed under the candlelight. This place was really starting to feel like a medieval dungeon, I should have gotten some lights hooked up in here. Oh well, I could do that later, now I had a fight to focus on. I swiftly got into my stance as Kotomine did the same. We kept our sights trained on one another, scanning for the slightest hints of movements and twitches of muscles. The moment, while short, felt like an eternity for the two of us.

Then, Kotomine bolted at me. His Black Keys rushing like he wanted to chop my head off. I blocked that blow, swinging my sword to throw him off balance as his leg lashed at my ribs. I fell backwards, narrowly dodging his kick and grimacing when I felt the tips of his toes grazing my skin, the impact leaving my bones rattled. "You really aren't holding anything back, are you?" He didn't bother answering, seeing the question for what it was: A poor attempt at distraction as he continued with his attacks. I forced more Mana into my legs, propelling me forwards as I activated [Longsword Of Silence].

"You are getting predictable, Prince Leo!" The distance between us wasn't far enough for the strike to reach its maximum velocity, but that's fine, it had done its job by breaking Kotomine's combo and set up my trap. This allowed me some much needed breathing room as I pulled back my blade. This… This wasn't as hard as I had previously imagined. Was Kotomine still holding back on me? No, he wasn't holding back, he was looking down on me. Maybe he thought I hadn't improved by much, and technically he wouldn't be wrong. Still, this was like putting gasoline on burning embers as I felt passion and the desire to win surging inside me.

It's like a floodgate had been broken. Frustration bubbled up in angry waves and tides that seemed almost endless. '[Petal Burst].' I shot at him, abandoning all caution to the winds as I focused entirely offensive. My base Stats had almost rivaled Kotomine's, lagging only three to four dozens points behind in total, combined with my Skills, I was able to quickly overwhelm his defense as he was forced on the retreat. Suddenly, everything clicked together. The puzzle that had been holding me back for so long was quickly solved as I felt my understandings of [Sword God Style] deepen. So that's why I hadn't been able to advance.

It was so obvious I wanted to bash my head against the wall… I had been too cautious, too calculating to realize the Style itself relied more on instinct than intelligence. Maybe that's why Ghislaine Dedoldia was able to advance all the way to Sword King, despite her lower-than-average intelligence. As Ash Williams had said: 'Shoot first, think never', which in this case could basically be translated to 'Do first, think never'. It's so easy I wanted to burst into laughter, the prompts from the Game and notifications that [Swordsmanship] and [Sword God Style] had leveled up only served to stoke my growing confidence.

[Skill: Swordsmanship(Passive) – Veteran Lv: 1/25]

[Skill: Sword God Style(Semi-Active) – Novice Lv: 1/25]

Gods, I must have looked like a crazy person from the outside, grinning from ear-to-ear as I kept slamming my blade against Kotomine's while the priest tried his best to keep up with my pace. "I WIN, YOU DAMNED PRIEST!" As my blade neared Kotomine's neck and I could already taste victory in my mouth, I felt the buts of his Black Keys crash against my forearm, which I had hastily brought up to block the attack. The high I was riding on dissipated almost instantly as I was pushed, falling on my back due to the resulting impact. I didn't get a chance to relax, rolling away just in time to avoid the stomp aimed at my crotch.

'This motherfucking priest!' The cunt actually tried to stomp on my precious jewels! 'Okay Leo, focus. You have managed to unsettle him, now you just have to be careful…' Suddenly, Gilgamesh, who was staring with interest on the side spoke, her voice far too amused to not have realized what I had had prepared for the unknowing priest. "Hah… Nicely done, mongrel." Thankfully, that didn't appear to have alerted Kotomine to my trap as his attention was drawn to the glowing, fading petals.

That was the reason why I tried to keep a clear head while in battles. I had a really bad case of tunnel vision so the second I let the moment get to me, my IQ just dropped straight down the drain. If I had been more cautious, I'd have had him by the balls right there. "You have gotten stronger, far stronger than I had predicted…" His gaze scanned the dissipating emerald-gold flower petals that fluttered in the air with interest. "Another new Spell? Can you even keep track of them at this point, your Highness?" I shrugged, gesturing at where he was standing and clicked my fingers. "[Dimensional Rifts]."

[Skill: Dimensional Rifts(Active) – Rookie Lv: 12/25]

Dimensional Rifts– The cracks in Space-Time that exist everywhere, yet nowhere at the same time are now yours to command. While it is almost a one-shot Skill, at this Level, not only does it take a long time to widen and create your artificial cracks, it also takes a long time for the second-part of the Skill to activate and the residual Mana left will definitely alert your opponents. Still, if you can somehow to keep your foes in range of the very noticeable cracks, you will have a lethal weapon on your hands.

That first [Longsword Of Silence] was never supposed to just disrupt Kotomine's pace, it also served to set up my Rift. I had planned on distracting him with conversation, but the residues of [Petal Burst] managing to gain his attention worked fine in my opinions. The hairline crack detonated. There was no flashy special effects, nor was there sounds and noises that followed, all that happened was Kotomine having his chest burst open. The wound wasn't big, it wasn't even lethal, but it was bleeding fast enough that I could just defend and wait for him to drop.

A battle of attrition would end really poorly for him. Kotomine seemed to know that too as he clutched his chest wound in shock. "You got me, your Highness." His chuckles turned into full-blown, ears-splitting laughter as he held his head, resulting in blood being smeared all over his face. "You really got me!" It was quite the disturbing sight, but I wasn't to be outdone as [Hell King's Engine] activated by itself. My heartbeats and his cackles seemed to fuse and merge to make a beautiful, yet haunting symphony that reminded me of the soundtrack of a 90's slasher film.

Finally, his laughter subsided as he got into another stance, this one far different from what I had gotten used to. *BAM. His first punch, blindingly fast, landed against the side of my blade, the force powerful to wrench it from my hand. *BAM. The second struck square in my stomach, making me cough up a mouthful of blood as I felt Kinetic Energy ripped through my intestines. *BAM. The third shattered my lower-jaw and I could almost feel my brain rattle inside my skull. In mere seconds, I was out of the fight, but Kotomine didn't let up. "HOW DOES THIS FEEL, YOUR HIGHNESS?"

I was blacking out now, the air in my lungs was exhaled in painful and rapid takes. My ears went deaf to the World as another punched crashed against my neck. I fell ungracefully on the floor in a bloodied heap of bruised flesh and broke bones. "That's enough Kirei. Anymore and he will die." The attacks had stopped, but I felt like a hundreds more were still raining on me. So that's Kotomine's special brand of Bajiquan? Damn, I really thought I could win this one, though I supposed it wasn't to be… Just as I was about to fall unconscious, I heard soft footsteps approach my fallen form.

It was Gilgamesh. Although, I couldn't ever remember her expression being this… Gentle? "Sleep, Leonis." Did, did Gilgamesh just refer to me by my name? As though she could hear my thoughts, the Queen continued. "You have earned the privilege. Take pride in that, from this moment on forth, you are no longer part of the rabbles that walk my garden." Huh? That's... Kinda worth it actually. I quickly fell into the gentle embrace of unconsciousness, which was a blessing, since I couldn't take any more of the pain currently wrecking my body.

"You did well, Kirei. That was everything I expected and more." Gilgamesh laughed, carrying the unconscious child in a bridal hold. When she first found the boy, she hadn't known what to do with him. It was only thanks to pure chance that she chose to take him in after the destruction of the Grail. But then he had proven to be far more interesting than she could have ever imagined, not just due to the Ability that kept him hidden from her [Sha Naqba Imuru], but also the bubbling waves of anger, frustration and the desire to be great that were all carefully kept underneath the mask of self-loathing and hatred.

At first, she didn't want to interfere too much in his development. She had wanted him to grow on his own, but that idea was quickly dumped in the trash after the discussion they had in the morning. 'He isn't wrong.' She realized. It was shortsighted of her to judge the rest of Humanity for their collective weakness, seeing as Humanity had never been powerful in all of history, with the exceptions of the few of course, the few that weren't even a drop in this ocean of people. She had judged their strength based on individuals, which was never their forte in the first place.

Still, she couldn't help but feel disappointed, knowing for a fact that no Heroes could be naturally born in this Age. She needed to do something to rectify the situation. Then, she had a brilliant idea. It would have been too much of a bother to look for those worthy to be groomed and taught by her, but why look when she already had someone with the potential right within her grasp? "It's my honor to help, your Majesty. But… Do you really think this was necessary? While I wouldn't have turned down the chance to teach the kid a lesson, it feels rather excessive." Gilgamesh shook her head.

"It was necessary, if I hadn't done anything, he would have been too comfortable with his current strength and too cautious to ever achieve anything." It was the truth, Leonis Magnum had potential, but that's all it was– Potential. Her servant, Kirei must have realized this too, which was why he was against the idea. Given enough time to flourish, Leonis Magnum could become a great obstacle to the priest's ambitions. Gilgamesh could imagine it already… A final stand-off between the two to decide the Fate of Humanity.

It wouldn't just be glorious, but also immensely amusing to watch. "Do you lack faith in your capability that much, Kirei?" Her eyes narrowed dangerously as she saw the priest tighten his grasp on the sticks he called weapons. One of these two would die, the other would triumph, as were their Fates but not now, not in these moments, it was too soon. Leonis was too weak and young to really put up a fight. Though she wasn't looking forwards to it, she would defend him if she must. Her treasures sang in response to her mental call, ready to be deployed like the loyal subjects they were.

It took the young priest a while, but he withdrew his weapons, slowly sheathing them inside his priestly clothes as he bowed. "My apology, your Majesty." The Queen Of Heroes and a priest, the fight wouldn't have even been close. "I was overtaken by emotions, it won't happen again." Gilgamesh doubted it. Kotomine wasn't like the rest of Humanity, he was truly insane. He wasn't afraid of her, he was afraid his dreams wouldn't be realized after his death. She would have to keep an eye on him, perhaps even send the boy to somewhere faraway so they wouldn't kill each other the moment her back was turned.

The priest skulked away, movements slow and careful as though a beast licking its wounds, yet he still managed to let out an ominous aura that would have deterred anyone but her. Gilgamesh smirked at his silhouette, then carried the unconscious boy to her bed. Wasn't he the lucky one? To be able to sleep on the same bed with one as glorious as her? "Don't get too used to this, mongrel."
