“I want to sleep so badly...” I muttered quietly.

The gymnasium is so crowded right now, as per the school regulation, the students must attend morning assembly every Monday. I’m standing in the boy’s line by class, that’s why Naoki and Yuki are not right beside me. At least Arima is right in front of me, looking like he’s about to class early in the morning. If I recall, all the students in the sports club always have training every morning before class.

The morning assembly only goes on for only 30 minutes then after that, we’ll go to our classroom and a slight briefing from Arita-sensei. That’s how it usually goes from what I’ve heard.

Nothing pretty much happened after getting in here. Yuki’s mood didn’t change. The people are still looking at me like I’m some sort of anomaly. Our line is at the farthest end of the gymnasium, and on our right are the male students from Class 1-B. They’re all scrutinizing me behind my back, looking at me with their scowling eyes.

Probably Yuki became their goddess in the class? And they’re treating me as a threat? That’s probably it. However, I recalled a certain event that includes a model student who kissed me the other day—Shiori. Models of students are popular among the class. Many students are in the hallway at that time and saw her kissing me. The rumors probably reached everyone’s ears right now.

Sucks to be me...

“If you want to sleep that badly, go to the infirmary.” Arima, who’s in front of me, replied.

“I need an excuse...”

“Tell them, you’re not feeling well, simple as that.”

“...”

“Anyway, how’s the date with Hatsumi and Ikeda?”

Even though Arima and I are murmuring into each other, some of the surrounding guys still managed to overhear us, as their ears perked up. Quite a topic, because Naoki and Yuki are total goddesses for the men, not only excelling in appearance but also have the brains to back it up.

“It went well. Honestly, I was surprised that I ended up in a hair salon then after that, I ended up in that place.”

“That’s your only response?”

“Yeah? What would expect me to say? We three went into a fancy dinner with fancy clothes.”

“I can’t believe you... You’re acting as if it’s normal to go into a fancy dinner with two girls...”

Afterward, I felt a chill breeze touching my skin. Why the hell is so cold in here?

“Anyhow, my little sister kept bothering me with questions about you.”

“Ohh, Megumi-san?”

“Yeah, it’s a pain in the ass even my brother kept asking you.”

“Hmm... What’s the problem with him?”

“He’s an idiot, whose self-confidence can’t be measured, an abnormal one. Sorry about that. Therefore I don’t like my brother meeting my classmates, he’s over the top with his attitude.”

Ah, I see... I supposed I’m just thinking too much about the situation. I need to lessen that part of me, it’s quite giving me some problems, personally.

“Ohh, that’s why... Greet them again for me as well your parents, they’re quite a lovely bunch of people.”

“Yeah, sure do. On a side note, my sister took a lot of your pictures that day, personally, I even found it creepy. She’s like a creepy stalker taking pictures of you while talking to those ladies on the way back to your table.”

He probably meant the college girls who are on a dinner date with the Namba guy.

“At least, it’s nothing to the level of my sister...” I muttered under my breath.

“What?”

“Nothing.”

“You’re surprisingly taking it relatively normal. Aren’t you getting creeped out by someone taking pictures of you without your permission?”

“I’m used to it.” I blurted honestly.

That’s the truth. There are countless pictures of myself from my ‘own’ sister’s room lingering all over it. Moreover, Shiori, whom I just learned that she’s stalking, probably has countless of them in her too. The same could be said for Yuki or even Naoki, from when Yuki said about this ‘monitoring’ thing to protect me; I have some conjectures that they’re the same too.

As long as Arima’s little sis won’t take things far, I’m okay with it.

While recalling my sister's shenanigans, a memory resurfaced, it was a piece of paper. But I snapped out of it because Arima turned his head around in surprise and looked at me with gawking eyes.

“What?” I gave him a questionable look.

“Seriously?”

“I am. Have you seen someone’s room with pictures of you all around her room, plastered on every corner of the room without any prior knowledge of when those pictures were taken? Because if you haven’t, I have.”

“I-I... I have nothing to say, just forget that I ask.” After making a complicated expression in front of me, Arima turned his head the other way.

After the morning assembly, we went back to our respective classrooms. That meant I was once again able to meet Yokota, the girl who made my day confusing last week, the same girl who unexpectedly said something ridiculous after a situation that escalated in the wrong way.

The male students are the first people that entered the class, so Arima and I engaged in a conversation on our seats while waiting for the others. Though he only kept asking me some questions that are related to why I got my haircut, and I explained it that I got something that finally fixed my ‘light-sensitive eyes’. Arima bought the excuse.

“Good for you, Okita. I’m happy, you can finally spread your wings around the girls in the school.” Arima jokingly said.

That didn’t sound pleasing to my ears, as I stared at Arima with a blank face, indicating that I don’t find those jokes of his funny. I’m not the only one in this, as the other males in the classroom who heard it got dark faces, looking at me... Surprise, surprise, I’m the one who received those gazes, not the person who said those joking remarks about me.

“What a bummer, at least laugh at my jokes.”

“Ain’t funny. I’m the one who’ll get prosecuted with your jokes.”

“Whatever—In any case, I like your new hairstyle.”

“Thanks.”

Then I added. “So, how’s the progress with her?”

“Can’t tell, I told you. I stopped talking with her ever since I met you guys.”

“Really?”

“Yeah, I realized that my world doesn’t need to revolve around them. I’d rather take effort on a friend who can appreciate and take care of our friendship. Plus, I found it amusing to mess with you. It’s been a long time ever since I found someone to mess with.”

“You know, you could’ve stopped at the part of appreciation rather than mentioning your love of teasing me. It’s great and all, but do you really need to ruin it?”

“Hahahaha...” Arima laughed.

“You’re something...”

“Thanks.”

“Not a compliment.”

“I might as well take it.”

I inwardly sighed.

Then our female classmates entered the room. One by one, I saw Naoki, and just right behind her was Yokota, who was looking rather gloomy. I waved at the two of them with a small smile on my face. Naoki responded the same, but Yokota looked the other way, avoiding my eyes completely.

Watching that, I felt a slight pain in the chest. So, this is what it feels like to be ignored by someone. Ain’t a good feeling. It went that way until they finally reached their seats. Yokota ignored me all the way, not batting me an eye. Arima noticed the awkward atmosphere between Yokota and me, so he whispered about it.

“Yow, what’s happening with Yokota? Did you do something to make her upset?”

“Long story...”

“Better do something early, or you’ll regret it.”

“Yeah...”

Afterward, the class began with Arita-sensei mentioning a few reminders about class duties for next week because the class duty for this week was announced last week. Luckily, Naoki and I are on the same for next week. Class duties involve cleaning the class, taking out the trash, and cleaning the board.

During all of that, I’m sensing on my left that Yokota has been glancing at me from time to time. But whenever I would look at her, she would look the other way. What is this? Yokota’s personality evolved into a tsundere? What the heck is happening.

The class goes on as usual until it reached lunchtime.

“Let’s go!” Arima said as he picks up a small bag out of his schoolbag. For the first time, Arima bought a homemade lunch at school.

“Wow, you finally bought one for school, huh?”

“Of course, I miss mom’s homemade cooking.”

“Sure~ Not because you’re the only one in the group—”

“Nope.”

“If you say so~” I shrugged.

Then Naoki interjected by saying. “Let’s go, and Yokota-chan too.”

However, Yokota, who was sneaking behind me, trying to get out of the situation was noticed by Naoki. Upon hearing Naoki, she started panicking but before she could decide to reject Naoki; she got dragged by Naoki out of the room. While leaving, Naoki instructed me about something. “By the way, Tatsu, go to Yuki’s class”

“Eh? Why?”

“Just do it, no questions.”

Then Naoki and Yokota disappeared in front of me, as Arima was the only person left with me. I glanced at him and he only smiled at me, leaving me all alone as he goes out carrying the small bag in his hand. At that moment, I only thought to myself ‘Seriously?’.

I’m standing there with my mouth hanging. I can’t believe this is happening to me. Well, I better get the gloomy Yuki first before everything, because she’s still upset about what happened between Naoki and me, the other day. I can’t tell much since it was a spur-of-the-moment situation.

She’ll probably forgive in a few days?

Can’t tell, honestly...
