Chapter 118: Chapter 116: The End?

There’s a momentary hint of the blue sky, and bits of light enough to release a flash of ice crystal across the land, so oddly satisfying to look at by its snowy scenery. The boughs of trees embellished with thick pillows, fluff snow; the ground covered in whiteness series of humps and mounds all over the land—It was majestic to behold. As my pale, feeble body lounging at the soft, fluffy snow of the ground—Cold tears drip from my eyes, gazing at the sky.

Many stuff happened before I ended up here.

Upon the arrival of Sayuki-nee, she immediately went out of the room, carrying my pale skinny body. Thoughts are popping from my mind, pondering how she came across to me in the hellhole. We’re still at the mansion. No traces of people can be seen as we proceed forward. The mansion is enormous, however, not a single person is in here, as if everyone abandoned it.

Suddenly, we came across a guy in a suit.

“Young miss, head this way, please.”

“Thank you, let’s go.”

The guy in the suit helped on carrying me. Right now, I have no way of telling where we’re about to head to. I’ve been wondering how Sayuki-nee knew that I’m in here? How many days have passed? Where am I anyway?

Soon after, we ended up in a luxurious room.

“I’ll tell all the guards, that the target has been found, young miss.”

“Thank you.”

Then the guy left the room, leaving Sayuki-nee and me in the room. Nothing has changed in my condition, still looking the same, sitting on the bed with my head down on the floor. Suddenly, I saw Sayuki-nee crouching on her knees, looking at me in the eyes.

“Sorry, Tatsuya. Sorry, that Nee-chan is late. We’ve been searching for you for months, but we have no clue where you were. Sorry... Fortunately enough, someone called us and told us your whereabouts. If not for her, I wouldn’t be able to find you. Your parents and everyone else are worried sick about you. Can’t you answer me?”

Tears started leaking from Sayuki-nee’s eyes while talking to me. Her entire body and face are quivering, crying in sorrow. She clasped both of my hands tightly and dragged them over her face, grieving over something that she had lost.

“Sorry—Sorry... I’m really sorry—Sorry... Sorry-sorry... If I just got here early, you wouldn’t be in this state. Sorry—!”

Soon after, she stopped crying and made a resolute face in front of me. Then she bought out a bag on where I’ll be getting in—I perfectly got inside the bag without any hassle at all. After that, I don’t know what happened as I can’t hear anything nor see.

Am I really safe now?

The days of suffering will end now?

But, there’s no such thing as easy in this world.

A while later, I heard a zip opening, then I saw the light and Sayuki-nee’s happy face. She bought me out of the bag and embraced me.

“Don’t worry, you’re safe now.”

We’re currently traveling in a vehicle. I saw a glimpse of hope when I saw the snow outside of the window falling from the sky. For once, I started shedding tears of hope. But that all ended in a flash, as the very next thing that I remember that day, I was embraced by someone tightly while the smell of something burning entered my nose, and the cries of the wounded entered my ears.

“Uck—...”

In an instant, all went downhill as I saw the bloodied Sayuki-nee’s face with her one eye closed, plus a plastered smile on her face, facing me. Afterward, she started dragging me out of the vehicle while aching in pain. Upon getting out of the vehicle, there’s a chaotic mess caught my attention, 4 different kind vehicles are destroyed or flipped over and the burning smell are everywhere in the middle of nowhere, in a highway—Before I could mull over that, Sayuki-nee carried me in her arms and started limping toward the snowy forest.

I have no idea where, but the glimpse of hope from earlier started fading.

The rough breathing, white smoke coming out of her mouth were the only thing I can see right now. Blood dripping down on her face, her old gorgeous silver hair is dyed in her own blood. Soon after, we ended up in a tree, where she put me down beneath the tree. Sayuki-nee then took a closer look at my body, checking if I’m injured despite her condition was worse than mine.

“Ack... Haah... Haah... Keep this.” She handed me a cross-shaped necklace and tightly closed my hand.

Yet, instead of looking at the necklace, something caught my attention which is the left eye of Sayuki-nee where it started gushing out blood. The entire area of her left eye had a huge cut on it, flesh could be seen. After handing me the necklace, she said these exact words to me.

“You’re intelligent, kind-hearted, and handsome. Yet, you got into this mess, you’re innocent, that should have a normal life, but it got taken away from you. With how mature you are from the other kids I have seen, especially my little sister. I knew you can become successful in this cruel fated world.”

“Thank you. I can’t be thankful enough. I’m glad that I met you. Please, protect my sister in my stead. That’s my only wish. And, tell her I love her so dearly even when our circumstances didn’t allow us to meet that often, tell her I love her. Thank you, Tatsuya. And, I’m truly sorry.”

Then she leaned in and kissed me on the forehead before saying her parting words. “Thank you. Take care of Yuki for me. Tatsuya.”

Following that, she turned her body around and started walking without glancing at me, continuing on her walk until she disappeared deep within the forest. It took me a while before I realized what happened, so I forced my body to stand, withstanding the pain. I started limping toward the direction on where Sayuki-nee disappeared to while clenching the necklace she gave me.

A wet sensation started dripping came out from my eyes. At first, I thought it was tears falling but when I glanced down; I saw blood. Ignoring it, I continued limping even though my knees were about to give out. Even when I stumbled, I dragged myself forward on the snowy coldness with little energy spare left on my body.

I can’t forgive myself.

“I... I’m... Us—Useless...”

In the end, I could only grit my teeth and shove my face into the coldness of the snow while clenching my hands. I slowly turned my body around as I gaze at the sky. It’s not a bad way to die in the coldness, out of nowhere, all by myself. Then I gradually close my eyes and accepted all of it, notwithstanding everything.

That's how I ended up in this situation. What happened next? I don't know. Only the being who oversees everything can tell.
