Scratching the back of my head while heading my way to the clubroom, pondering about what just happened to me. Out of the blue, Hina-senpai kissed me out of nowhere, and despite knowing my relationship with two girls, she didn’t mind at all. What are her motives? Is she going to use that as blackmail? It’s impossible because she’s not stupid to go against the Hatsumi family unless they’re nobles themselves, too.
“How do I explain this to the two?”
“What explanation?”
A woman’s voice entered my right ear, so I turned around and saw Shiori wearing glasses while smiling at me. Of course, it surprised me because she’s the person I’m looking for. Shiori doesn’t know that I regained my memories from my hellish nightmares. Or does she...?
“Oh, you’re here. I guess I don’t need to search for you.”
“What is it?”
I looked around and saw that no people are passing by.
“Haah... Shiori... Are you okay?”
“Huh? Of course, I’m fine. Why do you ask?”
“Nothing, do you want to sit on a bench nearby?”
“Uhm... Okay? You’re acting weird, Tatsuya.”
“Acting weird because I invited you to take a seat?”
“... I think not?”
“Then there’s my answer. Plus, you’re the one acting weird. Where’s the Shiori I met last week, the sophisticated woman? I remember you acted superbly last week.”
“Only did it, to annoy your women. They’re too annoying—Wait a minute...”
While walking to the bench, I stopped in my tracks and looked back at Shiori, looking at me confusingly.
“What?”
“...Nothing.”
Shiori lowered her gaze and followed me on the bench. After sitting, Shiori started fidgeting with her fingers for some unknown reason.
“What are you being antsy about?” I asked.
“D-Did you remember something?”
Shiori’s question surprised me.
“And, if I do? What would you do?”
“I don’t know...”
From the looks of it, she’s scared of it, but I don’t know why.
“Yeah, I did remember all of it.”
She flinched.
“Sorry...”
“For what?”
“That time, I should’ve gotten you out early, but I’m a coward to go against my older sister. I’m scared. I thought everything would be fine if I follow her obediently, but it has only gotten worse...”
Tears started falling out of her eyes.
“... If I only I had realized it sooner. I’m too naïve to realize that you’re perishing like me at that time. Sorry.”
“Why are you blaming yourself? It reminded me of Yuki yesterday.”
“Shut up, don’t compare me to her.”

“So are you going to tell me everything?”
“I supposed so...”
Shiori then started telling me the story behind everything that happened. First, she became aware of the situation after the night of her beating because her older sister found out that she’s meeting with me. Afterward, she was entrapped all alone in her room for her punishment to which she obediently followed.
Shiori then explained to me. Because of our meeting, she started digging for information about me; however, she doesn’t know my name as I’m mute at the time, so she extensively looked for ways on finding out my name. She snuck out her way out of the room despite the words that her sister said. Soon after, she sneaked out and saw the horrifying scene of my appearance bloomed before her, which she immediately held herself from vomiting to not blow her spot.
At that time, she heard her sister mentioning my full name as she... I can’t say nor I wanted to. Skipping to that important parts; upon hearing it, she went back inside her room and started vomiting on the floor, as the horrific and scary figure of her older sister petrifying her. Till to this day, she can’t forget it. I’m surprised by that fact because the memories of her getting beaten in front of me are still fresh.
Once Shiori learned my name, she immediately started digging for information about me. While digging, she stumbles across the name of the Hatsumi Family, which is the people who contacted her first. Of course, she got scared at first, but she started conversing with them, nonetheless. Shiori said they tracked her because of digging information about me.
While conversing with them, she just realized that her sister’s life would be at stake and her entire family, but she can’t stop herself from trembling in fear; however, she didn’t cooperate with the Hatsumi family because her older sister is the only family she only got. Eventually, she started having conflict with herself as her conscience are filled with guilt.
Shiori doesn’t know what to do.
One day, that all changed as her older sister started treating her more harshly, the days where she got bored with me; thus, she focused on all of her frustration that’s supposed for me to receive into Shiori. It went for days. Shiori even began cursing and started accumulating hatred against her own sister which ended up cutting ties with her—Regarding her as a person who’s beyond to be saved.
Because of that reason, she went back to her computer and established a cooperation with the Hatsumi Family, which lead to rescue me and her as well as her family’s status. The reason for Sayuri-nee to come personally because of the conflict would bring if they came full head-on with the Iwamoto family that considered being on the same footing as them, despite the loss of Shiori’s parents. The conflict between families would be devastating for the entire country.
That’s why Sayuri-nee proposed to have a banquet in the Iwamoto main household which Shiori’s sister accepted. Now, that’s how Sayuri-nee was able to find me with the help of Shiori as their insider. The story goes on with my escape that went horribly.
“So, where’s your sister now?”
“Uh... She died by suicide...”
“Eh—?”
“After you got rescued, one day, the maids found her body lying on the bed with blood everywhere.”
“Oh...”
After hearing that, an unsettling feeling dwelled within me, which became complicated for me. Because how can I sort these unstable emotions of anger and hatred if the person is dead now? How dare she die without my permission! How can I sort these emotions! Gritting my teeth in frustration, it all ended in a blink of an eye as a tremendous sigh of relief exuded out my chest.
“Haah... She’s now rotting in hell, huh…?”
“Yeah...”
“What about your family and you?”
“After that, Koichiro-sama took over the Iwamoto family and became my guardian before I can fully inherit the entire family. He’s even teaching me how to lead the family and I’m learning a lot through him.”
“How come, Yuki doesn’t know about this?”
“Koichiro-sama kept it hidden probably because of my existence as the sister who did this to you and the disappearance of Sayuri-sama.”
“Now, that makes a lot of sense on why Yuki can’t find anything about you.”
“That’s even fake. Everything she was told is all made up because Koichiro-sama doesn’t want Yuki to know my existence.”
“Yeah. Logically, it sounds correct.”
“Right. Um, Tatsuya.”
“Yeah?”
“I apologize for the last time.”
I chortled. “What are you saying? You saved me.”
“But...” Shiori lowered her gaze.
“Don’t sweat it. You’re my benefactor who saved me from that nightmare, and I’m thank you for that. It may be late, but you’re only a person. I understood your hesitation at that time. And, you’re my friend.” I smiled.
Because of that, Shiori burst into tears, embracing me tightly.
