Waking up to the sunrise, greeting me in my eyes with its dazzling ray peeking out on the Venetian blind hanging in the window of my room.

I grunted. “Ugh—hh...”

Gradually opening my eyes, I saw my older sister’s face in front of me—Naked again...

After Hara-senpai and her little sister, Rie-chan left yesterday, nothing interesting happened afterward. We ate dinner, then Naoki and Yuki went home. After that, Nee-san became more clingy as the two left. I did nothing.

But before I went to sleep, I made sure that she wouldn’t follow me into my room. However, her persistency is incredible that I shut the door in front of her. It was for naught. She clearly got into my room once again.

“Nee...”

“Mhmm...”

“Nee, wake up...”

“Later...”

With her reply, I stood and left her in the bed. I took a glance at my phone, it’s now 6:41 am. Seeing this, the first thing that came into my mind was taking a quick walk to the park. I started wearing my jogging pants and hoodie, then went out of my room. Leaving my sister in my room.

I'm currently looking at my phone while I’m heading downstairs, there’s no message from her, nor did she even read it. Sadness took over me. I want to talk to her like in old times but from seeing this that possibility is close to 0 now. I ignored the forum today since there’s no benefit from looking at it.

I saw Aunt Ayaka in the living room watching some televised programs on the television; I greeted her. “Good morning, Auntie.”

Turning her head around, “Oh! You woke up early again?”

“Ah yeah. I’m going to take a quick walk.” I replied.

“Take care, okay? Why don’t you call Naoki?”

“There’s no need, I want to be alone to clear some stuff in my head.”

“Hmm... Okay then. Call me if something ever happens.”

“Yes.”

I head out of the house, and now walking toward the park all alone.

I have gotten no time to be alone these days, most of my time is with either Naoki or Yuki, but mostly with Naoki as she’s my neighbor. Mesmerizing the beautiful warm looking sky, adding the blissful chilly breeze of the morning.

From the time I met Yuki, something inside me is changing gradually. Most importantly, the dream about Sayuri-neesan... It keeps repeating inside of my head. However, I was hoping to dream about her once again earlier but I didn’t, sadly.

Protecting Yuki in her stead...

Strong character...

Yuki and Sayuri-neesan are similar in that way, putting up this strong front so that people around won’t worry. True benefitting of the family name Hatsumi. I wonder if they taught all of them that way in their family? I let out a smile.

Every sentence, word, and facial expression of Sayuri-neesan, I remember them all. Yet, I can’t remember Yuki or Naoki. What an odd pattern.

Her words...

Giving myself to others...

Taking advantage of my kindness...

What a hypocrite...

I smiled.

I wonder where she is right now?

I can’t bring myself to ask Yuki.

I’m scared.

The possibility of something happened to her because of me is still in there.

While I’m contemplating my thoughts, I finally reached my destination, which is the public park. After getting, I just started walking leisurely. Then someone caught my eyes—Ide Aoi, Arima’s childhood friend, the one who left Arima in the dust.

She’s jogging all alone. Since I’m friends with Arima, I chose the best course way of action—Hide from her. I quickly went out of the area, but...

“Hey, you! Okita Tatsuya!”, she yelled.

Stopping my tracks.

Turning my head slowly to her, she was approaching me, then stopped when she’s finally in front of me.

“Um, may I help you?” I asked politely.

“Your friends with Koichi, right?”

“Um, if you are talking about Arima, I believe so?”

It took me a few seconds to reply; I forgot it was Arima’s first name.

“You know nothing about him, right?”

“Yes. I know nothing. Why are you asking?”, I said, while furrowing my eyebrows.

“Th—”

“If you are talking about the rumors circulating around him, I don’t care. I will be the person to judge whether I can befriend him.”, interrupting her.

“You’re talking big but you don’t even know about it.”, Ide-san glaring at me.

“Yeah. So? Care to tell me what about it? Because I’m sure that his so-called childhood friend who knew him ever since they were kids can tell what kind of man he is.”

Ide-san flinched upon hearing what I said. “You... Haa... I’m just warning you if you really want to be friends with him then I will not care, but if you wanted someone trustworthy find someone else.”

“Are you telling me that this childhood friend of yours is not trustworthy?”

“Yeah.”

“How many times did he betray your trust?”

Ide-san flinched once again, but she didn’t reply and kept her mouth shut. “...”

“Tell me. Because I’m the type of person who will not believe the accusation with no actual evidence, not like a mindless monkey.”

“O-Once...”, she replied dejectedly.

“You’re telling me, he betrayed your trust once?”

She nodded.

“And that one time made you left him all alone? When you could clearly tell that he’s hurting deep inside?”, I said sternly.

Ide-san eyes widen. “Hurting?”

“You’re his childhood friend, but you don’t know? You’ve been together for years without any actual understanding of each other? Because I who’s a stranger to him could tell. He’s putting this energetic act in front of me to compensate for the pain he’s experiencing or to levitate some parts of it, but deep down he’s depressed.”

Ide-san kept her mouth shut.

“You like this Nagasawa guy, right?”

Ide-san, who’s in a daze, was staring at me, still didn’t reply.

“Okay, I’m not going to ask whom you like because I don’t care about it either way.” looking at her.

I continued, “So, if you’re so adamant about this trust thing about Arima, tell me what he did and the rumors that circulate around him so I can make my conclusion to your own accusations about him.”

Ide-san took a deep breath and replied. “Let’s take sit somewhere.”

I followed Ide-san to a bench, and I sat beside her.

“I-I didn’t know about that part of him, or maybe I chose to ignore it. But, how could you tell?”, Ide-san spoke first.

“I made some hypothesis ever since he told me he’s no friends nor acquaintances. No friends to talk to or someone to be with, all alone. But, when he met me, he’s unusually friendly even though he knew I don’t trust him nor we’re friends, yet.”

Watching Ide-san’s reactions, her face was showing guilty expression. I guess she knew all about it.

“You knew about it, right?” I asked.

“Yeah...” she replied.

“Let’s get straight to the point and tell me what are the rumors.”

“Haa... Okay...” Ide-san sighed.

She inhaled deeply then spoke, “It’s on our middle school days. Koichi and I still have a great relationship but rumors about him were circulating out of nowhere like him dating multiple girls, or being a douchebag. At first, I didn’t believe all of them...”

That’s unlikely to happen at how devoted he is to you.

“...Kazuo and I stayed with him until the end.”

“Kazuo? You mean Nagasawa?”, I asked.

“Yeah, he’s our childhood friend, too. Not only him but there’s another one, a girl—My best friend, Miyata Miyuki. She’s an ideal beauty unlike me.”

“Then what about her?”

“S-S-She got r*ped...”, tears falling out of her eyes.

“R*pe? And the person who did it was Arima?”, furrowing my eyebrows.

“I-I-I don’t k-know... But, he was the last p-person to be seen with her...”

“So, if he really did. Isn’t he supposed to be in a juvenile detention center?”

“No... Lack of evidence... Though her parents filed... She stopped speaking ever since... That’s why they didn’t know who it was or what really happened...”

“And because of that, you started hating him?”

“Who wouldn’t?! Because of what happened, Miyu stopped talking she initially became deaf!!”, glaring at me.

“The only evidence you only got was that he was the only person last to be seen with?”

“Yeah, they’re both seen in the shopping district together... Even pictures...”

Pictures of them together?

“Why would there be pictures? Who would take a picture of them?”

“I don’t know... It just showed on everyone’s locker the other day with a note. I’m furious with the person who sent that! Telling everyone what happened to Miya...!” Ide-san crying ferociously.

“I’ve got a question for you, Ide-san.”

“What?” Ide-san asked while sniffling.

“Are you sure that Arima was the type of guy who will do those stuff?”

Ide-san flinched and replied. “N-No...”

“So, you knew Arima was that type of person. But, you left him to rot in depression that could even lead him to suicide? They identified him as innocent, not because the police got a lack of evidence. Surveillance systems are spread wide to every corner of this city. About your information, did you learn it from the police?”

She was wide-shocked, shivering in fear when she heard me mentioning Arima killing himself because of the false accusations against him.

“N-No... I only knew that he was the last person with her. I tried asking her parents, but they said it’s confidential.”

“Of course, it’s a police investigation. Civilians are not supposed to know it. Did they even say that Arima was the prime suspect? Or, did the parents told you how furious they are with Arima?”

“N-N-No...”

“On the side note, why do you keep glaring at him was it hatred?”

“No... I-I was expecting him to tell me the truth... Waah...!”, she started crying out of nowhere.

Shit! Why the fuck am I supposed to do here?! I started waving my arms around as I’m panicking with all my might. Do I rub her back? I think that’s sexual harassment. Ahhhhh!!

“Tell me...”

“Eh?” I replied in bafflement.

“Tell me, if what I did to Koichi is bad... Did I really left him hanging...?”

“Eh... In my perspective, you did. You revolved your view around this narrative conclusion in your mind, then forcing him to speak out the ‘truth’ that you created yourself. Though, if you wanted him to do that, why are you forcing him away?”

“I don’t know... Every time I see him, something inside of my chest hurts...”

“You’re blaming him?”

“I don’t know...”

“If I may add. You learned about what happened to her because her parents told you, not because of the letter, right?”

“Yeah. But, it got spread into the neighborhood too, before the letter...”

“Ahh, I see... Maybe, someone slipped the information up to others.”

“So basically, why Arima was alone and getting avoided by other students because of that letter?”

“I guess so...”

“What’s in the letter?”

“It’s a picture of him with her and... A letter of how there’s a current investigation, and the last person to be seen with her was Arima.”

“For real? That sounds too suspicious. Let me ask someone.”

Then I started contacting a special person who’s practically the most powerful person whom I knew—Yuki. After a few rings, Yuki picked it up.

[Morning, love. Did you miss me already?]

“I’ve got a thing to ask you for. Can you do it?”

[Of course, anything for you. Want to skip and go on a date, now?]

“Yuki... I’m serious about this.”

[Okay, okay. What is it? You didn’t even reply to my question, earlier.]

“Fine, I missed you too.”

[Good. So, what is it?]

“It’s about this person named Miyata Miyuki. Can you get me information about her, especially what happened to her middle school days?”

[Who’s this? Another one that you will add to your harem? Are we not enough to satisfy your desire?]

“Yuki... Stop kidding around.”, I said in a stern voice.

[Fine, I’ll give it to you once they’ve got it.]

“Thank you.”

[Love you.]

“Love you too.”, I whispered.

[*Gasp*, Can you say that one more time?!]

“All right, bye.”

[Waai—]

I ended the call.
