I started stretching my neck as my gaze didn’t leave Shiori, who had this grin on her all the time. Shiori’s sly behavior surfaced while talking to the two. I’m still in a state of bewilderment at Shiori’s actual personality. I feel like I’m just having a bad dream. Do I feel betrayed? The answer is—No. Because of that, it’s been bothering me lately.
“Perhaps to you, but not to me. Shouldn’t you be grateful? You’re now able to forget the past, neither good nor bad, and move on with life. Am I right, Tatsuya~?”
“I can’t refute that...”
“At least you know what I’m talking about~ Don’t worry, I’m not the type of person who uses force. As you can see, my patience is very good~ I’ll be taking my leave, or else I will start blurting out some stuff. Plus, Yokota has been listening to us since earlier, right Yokota-chan~?”
Then I turned my head toward the door. I saw Yokota there, standing. I completely forgot that Yokota was taking a phone call from her sister, she’s only standing outside of the door with her phone out. Yokota was making this complicated face as she watched all the stuff that had transpired now. After that, Shiori stood up and started walking out of the room.
“Bye~ Tatsuya~ Love you~,” waving her hand.
I unconsciously waved back to her. I’m bewildered upon seeing Yokota standing there and listening to us. Shiori didn’t even get bothered by Yokota learning about that side of her as if she deliberately planned it all beforehand. She just left nonchalantly. Yokota entered the room with her stupefied expression. I asked her nervously.
“Um... Have you been listening to us...?”
“... Yeah.”
I gulped, “To what extent...?”
“E-Everything... I-I’m just standing outside, I heard everything...”
“Oh, I see...”
Then I looked at the two girls beside me—Naoki and Yuki. Naoki’s face is visibly upset. Meanwhile, Yuki’s face is full of anger as she glares at the door to where Shiori left earlier. To ease their mood, I started patting their head just like I would usually always do. I then turned my head to Yokota, who’s still visibly confused as of right now.
“Are you surprised by Shiori too?”
“Eh? Oh, y-yeah... You guys are calling each other by your given name. Are you two close...?”
“No, the explanation that I gave to you the other day about the picture of her was all true. I’m surprised...”
“But... She even said...”
“About loving me? She only confessed to me earlier.”
“Eh? What...?”
“I don’t know, to be honest. I’m more confused than you, as of right now. There are so many revelations for me today, that it’s making my brain suffer.”
“...”
“I’ve got a question, Yokota. Is Shiori a transfer student?”
“Ah? No, this is her 2nd year in this school.”
“So, she transferred here last year?”
“Yeah.”
Coincidence... From seeing Shiori’s personality, there’s no such thing as coincidence in her vocabulary, even the two girls beside me, they’re not here because of a mere coincidence. It’s making me go crazy just by thinking about the craziness that has happened to me. Iwamoto Shiori, a model student, and my online friend—Zeno, and my stalker. What are the chances? I think I’m a magnet for crazy girls. What a life.
Shiori mentioned forgetting the past. Is she implying that I need to accept my current condition and live with it? Forget everything and move forward. The possibility of Shiori knowing my current condition increased with that question. She’s harder to read than Yuki, even Yuki herself admitted she can't read Shiori.
What is she planning?
I glanced at Naoki and Yuki at my side. The two were able to calm down they’re silently listening to my conversation with Yokota. However, I could still sense their distress toward Shiori. Then I remembered Yokota heard everything, which meant...
“Yokota, don’t you have any questions?”
“A-about what...?”
“You heard everything... You heard what Yuki said too, right?”
“I-I have nothing to say...”
“Hm? But last time you were so aggressive on that topic.”
“I’ve had my suspicions about it so I didn’t really believe you at that time, Okita.”
I knew it...
“So you knew, huh...?”
“Um, it’s obvious that Ikeda and Hatsumi have a thing for you, even all the other people can notice it. However, I-I just assumed that you three had that kind of relationship because of the kiss... Though the explanation that Ikeda gave to me that day is good, it's just that... I didn’t buy it.”
“Pfft—Yeah, should’ve known it. Aren’t you going to comment about it? I mean, even though these two were the ones responsible for telling me about how they wanted that kind of relationship, in the end, I still accepted it. A society of monogamous, where polygamous relationships are forbidden. I’m sure that you have the same view of polygamy. No matter what kind neither polygyny nor polyandry, it’s still forbidden in the law's eye.”
Then I looked at her with a serious expression, continuing, “So, what’s your take on that part?”
“I-I—... I have no take about it... There’s nothing really wrong with it... If you saw it logically—... Some countries allow that, even in some religions... It’s just that... It’s illegal...”
“Right? But, let me ask you something. What do you think of cheating or any kind of infidelity?”
“Shameful.” Yokota showed a disgusting expression.
“Then about three people in a polygamous relationship with consent or agreement with each other?”
“... It’s fine...?”

I shrugged. “I don’t know. Perhaps it’s still immoral. But, why do I care? Do you know why I’m saying this to you, Yokota?”
“Um, to change my mind?”
“No. It’s about sending a message. Imagine what would happen if other people knew about this thing. That’s why Yokota. Please don’t tell the others.” I bowed my head to her earnestly.
That’s my purpose of telling that stuff to Yokota, for her to get a glimpse of what will happen. I understand that our friendship as of right now is like a thin piece of paper that can get easily destroyed, but from what I’ve learned about Yokota that she’s a reasonable person who purely thinks logically and with reasons. Of course, the probability may be low, but I’m willing to take that risk.
“I will not. I assure you, Okita. It may sound ridiculous but I’ve grown fond of Ikeda and Hatsumi, they’ve been good friends with whom I can talk carefree.” Yokota smiled.
“Yokota-chan!” Naoki yelled, as she immediately went to Yokota’s side and embraced her.
As Naoki embraced her, Yuki, who’s right beside me, had this serious look on her face. If my guess is right, she’s contemplating on something or to be specific—Shiori. “What are you thinking, Yuki?”
“Many... I’m sorry for blurting that out even though we’re not officially dating yet.”
“Hey, it’s okay. People can say irrational things out of emotions. You may not forgive yourself because of that, but we’re not meant to be perfect. No perfect human exists in this world. Everything has its own pros and cons.”
“I know. From Shiori’s reaction, I think she’s honest about her feelings about knowing that you accepted that kind of relationship.”
“Perhaps. But, we won’t know unless she tells it herself. The problem that we’re facing right now... There’s a chance that Shiori can use that information against us, which will be a tremendous deal. But at the same time, I doubt she’ll do that.”
“Yeah, she can use that to separate you from society entirely. Then kidnap you—...”
“Oi! Stop that.”
“But... I’m just stating facts.”
“That may be true, but don’t forget you two are affected by it.”
“...”
“I’ll just deal with her. Oh, and by the way, Yuki. Can you make the security in my phone more encrypted? And my laptop too. I should’ve learned some machine language...”
“I was about to ask you that. No need to be harsh on yourself. The people who were surveilling you have no clue too.”
“...I don’t know if I’m going to be happy with what you said or get creeped out. Basically, different people are spying on me. In my everyday life?”
“It’s for your own protection, don’t worry. I’ve got your parent’s permission. They gave me a huge approval of it.” Yuki gave me a thumbs up.
“Why am I not surprised by that, anymore? It’s giving me a tremendous headache just thinking about it.” pinching my glabella.
After that, Yokota told us about what her sister called her for, which is that we’ll be meeting at the school campus gate. Because of that, I texted Arima that we’ll meet there. He texted back saying that he just ended his practice and is currently changing his clothes as of right now. Then we all went on our way downstairs, waiting for Arima. While waiting for him, we became the center of attention of the people who were going home or the people who are part of the sports club who just finished their practice.
I started not caring about it. The more I make a big deal out of it, the more it will stress me. Those gazes towards me are not going anywhere for a long time, now that my face has been spread wide here. From what I learned about those gazes, the majority of the people are curious about why I hide my face with bangs when I have a decent face that I could flaunt around. That’s only one reason, as for the other... I’ll leave it just like that.
With all the gazes, my companions didn’t bother with them at all. After waiting for quite a while, a good-looking guy with his messy dark brown hair and brown eyes, waving his hand at us—It’s Arima. He then stopped. “Sorry for making you guys wait. It took me some time to change.”
“It’s fine.”
Afterward, we all walked together toward the meeting place, which is the school campus gate. While walking, Arima asked me a question. “By the way, how did it go with Aoi, earlier?”
“Oh, I don’t know. Her head was about to explode from confusion. But, she accepted my apology and thanked me for what I said to her.”
“What the... When was the last time I heard her say ‘Thank you.’?”
“Don’t tell me... Even that?!”
“Oh, you bet. She’s stubborn as a bull.”
“Stubbornness, huh? Is that what made you go crazy for her?”
“Nope, not at all. It’s a complicated thing, that even I don’t know myself.”
“Her mind was occupied by the things I said to her. And started thinking about it, I think that’s a good sign, right?”
“Probably. I only knew her personality but not what she’s thinking.”
“That personality of her is colliding with her brain to the point it’s making it hard for her to create a decision for herself. Has she been like that?”
“About her decision-making?”
“Yeah.”
“Yeah, she’s too reliant on Miyuki or her parents. They would always dictate what she can and can’t do, that’s why she never grew mature—She became too dependent on others where her own decision doesn't matter anymore. Now, since Miyuki is out of the picture, she has become dependent on Nagasawa.”
“Oh, that made sense. You really have keen eyes when observing her.”
“Of course, when you love someone. The only thing you can think about is only that person. Whenever they’re close, you can’t stop yourself from looking at that person, every slight movement. You’ll notice them.”
“I... What you said is a kind of cringe but at the same time, insightful. I commend you on that one, Arima.”
“You fucker, why did you even say that in front of my face?! You should’ve just said nothing at all—!! It’s making me embarrassed...” Arima’s face flushed red.
