“Wooooo—! Nooooo—! Asuka wants to come!”
“Asuka, your Tatsu-nii has an appointment at the hospital.”
Naoki was begging for the crying Asuka to let go of me as she clings to my body firmly. Naoki, Yuki, and I have an appointment with Izumi-sensei regarding my illness. Not only Asuka but as well my sister. She’s clinging to the other side of my body, begging me to bring her too.
“Suya, can’t you bring Nee-chan? I promise I’ll behave.” Looking at me with pleading, tearful eyes.
“Nee... Izumi-sensei strictly forbids you to attend any of my appointment with her.”
“I will behave promise. Please~~? Pretty please~~?”
“No.”
I have no choice but to reject Nee-san since the last time she’s with us. Nee-san keeps interfering with Izumi-sensei’s work and it annoyed Izumi-sensei. Then she prohibited Nee-san from coming to any of my appointment. If I’m in the place of Izumi-sensei, I would do the same no matter what’s your relationship with the patient.
Once I firmly rejected Nee-san, her tears burst out of her eyes. Which added more fuel to my foul mood, we’re about to lose time if we don’t do anything here. Instead of prioritizing Nee-san, I went to the crying Asuka first.
“Asuka~” I said in a playful tone.
“Hm...?” Asuka replied, looking at me with her snot and tears in my clothes.
“How about this, we’ll go together somewhere fun tomorrow?”
“Fun?”
“What about going to the zoo or an amusement park?”
Upon hearing my suggestion, Asuka stopped crying and sparkles could be seen in her eyes. Indicating that she agreed with what I said, all my worries subsided seeing Asuka’s eyes. I’m glad it worked. If it doesn’t I’ll be left, but to comply and bring her with us.
“Really?”
“Yeah, I promise.”
“Okay!”
Thinking about it...
Aren’t I spoiling her too much...?
Meh, she’s just a kid.
It’s fine.
Finally, Asuka stopped clinging to me. Now for Nee-san, I still felt bad for rejecting her outrightly. Thinking about something that could help her... I mean, just a simple hug would help, right? She would always be incredibly happy whenever I took the initiative to hug her on my own accord. So I did just that. It surprised her.
“Su-Suya?”
“There, there...” I started stroking her hair.
“Eh...?”
“Is this good enough?”
“...Yes...?”
“Alright, then we’ll head out.”
I smiled, then released my embrace. Afterward, I dragged Naoki and Yuki outside of the house while waving back to Aunt Ayaka, who just came back from upstairs, and Asuka, who’s waving cutely on the doorstep alongside my stunned older sister.
We entered the vehicle altogether. I slumped my back in the backseat and let out a huge sigh of relief.
“Haa...”
“You handled your crazy sister pretty well, Tatsu,” Yuki spoke while giggling.
“Hey, don’t call her crazy, she’s still my sister nonetheless. Anyhow, did you two got a good sleep last night?”
“Of course, instead of having a good sleep, we even enjoyed it more because of your smell. Right, Nao?”
“Umu, the cool breezing smell of Tatsu was the most pleasant smell ever.” Naoki nodded in agreement.
“I don’t know if I will accept that as a compliment or get creeped out.”
“What? Why are you getting creeped out? You knew we love you.”
“Umu, I agree.”
“I understand your logic behind that, but still...”
“If you get it, then don’t comment on it.”
Naoki nodded.
“Oh, yeah. I haven’t given you guys my answer yet, right?”
“You just realized that?!” Yuki started slapping my arm repeatedly.
I chuckled, “Hahaha, sorry, sorry. Anyway, I’m sorry for delaying but I’m just seeking an answer. Until then, let’s hold it.”
“Mouu— Sorting things out again?!” Yuki said aggressively.
“Oi, it’s been like few days.”
“That’s the point! We should’ve gotten an answer few days prior to our confession! But, you kept stalling it! Just say yes! It’s so obvious that you love both of us! For heaven’s sake, Tatsuya!” Yuki said while puffing her cheeks, and she kept slapping my arm.
“Aw, aw aw, aw. Yu-chan, stop.”
Her hand stopped mid-air. It started shaking violently. Yuki’s amethyst eyes widen as she stares at me. Her bewilderment can’t be explained right now. Suddenly, tears started coming out of her eyes. The same thing could be said for Naoki, but she had a lot more tears falling than the actual person who was supposed to cry. Which is unbelievably adorable of her.
“C-Can you s-say that one more time...?”
I took her arms and embraced her. Stroking her head gently, as I sympathize with Yuki. Things may have been hard for her during those years without me, but I’m here now and I just need to find the answer I’m looking for.
“I had a dream last night.”
“H-huh...?”

“It’s about a certain event that happened to me when I was young. Every detail of that dream is still clear in my mind, as if it only happened just a few minutes ago...”
Then I took Naoki into my embrace who can’t speak as tears fall in her beautiful blue eyes that represent the sky itself. Both Naoki and Yuki’s hands are trembling as they listen to every word that came out of my mouth. I then continued with my words.
“... It’s about a party. A birthday party of a certain someone, to be exact. I was standing there in the middle of crowds in a luxurious garden behind one of the monumental houses in the country’s history, that could even be dated way before the old era.”
“Are you two were able to follow me?” I added.
“...” “...” They didn’t respond.
“Well, I guess playing with my words won’t do, huh... How do I say this... A long-lost memory of mine projected in my dream, a precious memory that I believe was the start. And that start was the answer, I’ve been seeking.” I smiled at the two.
“W-Was it my birthday...?” Yuki said nervously asked.
Stroking Yuki’s hair, I answered her. “Well, yeah. But, I don’t kn—”
“It was my 10th birthday.”
“...How did you..?”
“It was the only birthday that became public to nobles. Other than that, they’re all celebrated privately... You see, grandpa is not fond of grandeur celebrations where hundreds of people attending...”
Yuki’s tears are still falling from her eyes as she explains them to me. And I’m attentively listening to every word she’s telling me and remembering them bit by bit.
“... He’s the type of person who only wants to celebrate occasions privately with the people he treated as family. Even though, he’s from a noble family where grandeur celebrations are a must, to show their power and social standings. He disregarded all of that, as he wants me and my sister to live peacefully away from the spotlight since we’re still kids.”
Yuki held and gripped my hand firmly as her tears fall to my hand.
“But, of course, there were—”
“Because of marriage?”
“T-Tatsu... D-Do you remember...?” Naoki interjected.
“No, not yet. But, I’m hoping soon.”
“So, where were we?” I added.
We’re talking about a private matter in a car that can be overheard by the driver, but there’s a mechanism that allows the passenger to put the whole passenger back seat into a soundproof privacy area, where the passenger can talk more openly without the driver overhearing them. Honestly, being rich has so many perks. I’m quite envious of it.
“Marriage...” Yuki mumbled.
“Oh, yeah. I remember in my dream that I did something for gramps to help you in your marriage, right?”
Yuki nodded. Seeing her vulnerable state, I smiled wryly. In my dream, I saw Yuki as a defenseless girl who’s scared of everything then comparing it to today’s Yuki the resemblance is there. Something inside me felt proud of her, so I embraced her more firmly.
“By the way, how’s gramps?”
“He’s fine and healthy. He would often talk about you whenever we have lectures.”
“What a-about... Sayuri-nee...?”
Yuki flinched upon hearing that name. She slowly looked up, meeting my eyes. Her face shows a shocked expression. Finally, I was able to ask the question of Sayuri-nee to her little sister Yuki. I’ve been storing up the courage to ask her that. From the look on her face, Naoki mentioned nothing to Yuki about me remembering Sayuri-nee. Gradually, Yuki’s mouth opened, reciting these words to me.
“S-She’s... Missing...”
My eyes widen. “What do you mean by that?”
“I-It’s complicated... It’s better for you not to know the details, it will only confuse you...”
I could feel my heartbeat throbbing dangerously, but it calmed down after I saw the pain in Yuki’s face. I pressed my lips against her forehead and said.
“It’s okay, we’ll search for her after all of this.”
“T-Thank you, Tatsu.” Yuki buried her face in my chest.
Then I shifted my gaze to Naoki, who was looking at me very dearly. Wait, I clearly remember Sakura-san was a legitimate attorney. “Naoki, how come you didn’t know your mother was an attorney?”
“Mm? Tatsu... We’re having a moment... Then you ask me that question...?”
“Sorry, it’s really on top of my head. I can’t help myself but ask.” I chuckled.
“Mou—... Bad Tatsu... Um, I really don’t know... I thought she’s just an office worker for gramps.”
“Ahh, I see... Yeah, that makes sense.”
“Tatsu, I’ve got a question for you.”
“Hm? What is it?”
“D-Did you saw the—Bitchy-neesan...?”
“Yeah.” I smiled wryly.
“Oh...”
“But, don’t worry. I’m fine.”
“Okay... I’ll give you some huggies.” Naoki started snuggling, her face to my arm.
That went on for quite a while until we stopped in front of the hospital. Well, the two stopped crying midway through the trip, but the traces in their eyes are still noticeable. Before going out, Yuki took out a make-up kit and covered their faces with make-up.
Honestly, after putting on the make-up it didn’t really change anything except for the red marks on their faces. Some would say make-up would make someone more beautiful, but for me, I don’t get that idea. Perhaps I’m just naïve in those kinds of stuff.
We got out of the car one by one. A familiar building greeted my eyes, the hospital building that I’ve been visiting for the past year, and the building full of memories. After getting out, we garnered a ton of attention from all the people going to the hospital. Perhaps due to the luxurious cars behind us and the two girls beside me, and probably me. Before going in here, Yuki took her time grooming my hair.
Walking towards the entrance, a familiar-looking nurse was attending someone in a wheelchair coming out of the hospital. It was Mari-san, the nurse who took care of me when I’m staying at the hospital.
I called her. “Mari-san!” waving at her.
“Huh?” Her gaze shifted in my direction. However, she’s confused.
