“Mari-san!”

“Okita?”

I walked towards Naoki and Yuki followed along behind me. As I’m waving at her, I saw the person she’s assisting. It was a young male who seems to be about in the same range as ours? When he noticed me waving at Mari-san, he gave me a sharp glare.

“Mari-san, how are you? It’s been almost a month since I last saw you.”

“Look at you, you’re fully grown up. Time passes so quickly.” Mari-san started wiping out the non-existent tears in her eyes.

“...”

“Hahaha, but in honesty, you have really quite grown more matured.” Mari-san then approached and gave me a friendly embrace. Then she continued.

“Look at this, your muscles are more firm and well-defined. Are you lifting weights now?”

“Yeah, it’s from my father’s dietary program.”

“Ohh, it’s from Okita-san. I see I see, he did a good job of training you. Well, he’s pretty hot too.”

“Mari-san...”

“Come on now, can’t I have at least a crush nowadays? I’m just stating the truth, your dad is a good-looker and hot. Go ask all the nurses who have seen your dad, they’re pretty head over heels with your dad.”

“I don’t know if I’m going to take that as a compliment or get worried.”

“Hahahaha, take it as a compliment you, idiot.”

“Okay...”

“Anyway, what are you doing here? I see that you bought your two girlfriends.” Mari-san looked at Naoki and Yuki behind me.

“Hello, Mari-san, we’ve met again.” Yuki greeted her politely. The same could be said for Naoki. “Thank you for taking care of Tatsu, Mari-san.”

“Hello, Ikeda-sama and Hatsumi-sama. We’ve met again and I’m just doing my job as his personal nurse, so it’s no big deal.”

“Wow, you’re calling them -sama? How nice.”

“Of course.”

“What about me? Where’s my Okita-sama?”

“In your dreams, brat-sama,” Mari-san said with a menacing smile.

“Hey, Mari. Let’s go.” the guy in the wheelchair said.

“Oh, okay then. We’ll meet again later, Okita.” Mari-san went back to the hospital while waving her hand at us. However, the guy in the wheelchair wasn’t happy as he gives me a sharp glare with a sour mood mixed in his face. Because of that, I’m certain that guy has some sort of romantic feelings with Mari-san. I wouldn’t even be surprised since Mari-san is quite a looker.

“I pity that guy. He likes Mari-san, but she’s taken.” Yuki said pityingly.

It surprised me, “Mari-san had a new boyfriend?”

“I don’t know.”

“Huh? Then why?”

“Aren’t you going to seduce her and add her to your collection?”

“Yuki, do you really think of me that way?”

“Yu-chan, not Yuki. I-I miss the way you call me...” Yuki hid her flustered face under her silver hair.

“Yu-chan, let me repeat, am I that type of person?”

Instead of Yuki, Naoki answered for her. “Tatsu, you’re a natural and you’ve been doing it for a long time. You just didn’t notice it because you’re dense.”

“...” Ouch...

A memory flashed in my mind, the flustered face of Yokota and the words she said yesterday in the clubroom. Fine, I admit I’m super dense when it comes to other people’s romantic feelings towards me because I don’t want to be big-headed, and assume every person who gets flustered with me has romantic feelings.

“Okay, I guess you’re right. But, I can’t do anything about it.”

“Mhm, at least you get my point.” Naoki nodded repeatedly.

“Yeah, it only takes him a few days to conqueror them. Yokota for example, a quiet girl suddenly requested Tatsu a kiss, out of nowhere.” Yuki interjected.

“Let’s not talk about that. I’d rather deal with it next week. First, let’s head in.”

“Eh? Yokota? When? What happened? Kiss? What kiss? Huh? Request? EHHHHH?!” Naoki exclaimed.

While in the elevator, Yuki started explaining things to Naoki with a fully detailed explanation, plus a little bit of exaggeration. I’m just there listening and watching the two, not butting on Yuki’s explanation even though some of the things she’s saying are ridiculous.

Naoki can’t believe the words that came out of Yuki’s mouth. She then looked at me as if I’m guilty of what happened to Yokota. I only averted my eyes away because no matter what kind of reasoning I came up with, they’re all useless. Apparently, I’m the one at fault. Yet, the truth was I’m innocent. I want to cry in a corner. Droplets of imaginary tears started leaking out of my eyes.

Why am I at fault?

After we went to the front desk to ask if Izumi-sensei was in. They said she's in so we naturally went there. In front of Izumi-sensei’s, the familiar smell entered my nose.

Opening the door, a gorgeous woman with pink hair pony-tailed one-sidedly on the right side, staring at us with a profound look in her eyes adding her glasses, which increased the intensity of her gaze. It only stayed that way for a few seconds, upon realizing it was us who came. Her face loosened.

“Oh, it’s only you, Tatsuya. Come in.”

“Good afternoon, Izumi-sensei.”

Izumi-sensei nodded.

We sat on the sofa.

“It’s good seeing you two, Naoki and Yuki-sama. How are you two?”

“I’m good, Izumi-sensei. Thank you for worrying.”

“I’m the same, as usual, thank you for taking care of Tatsu and Nao, Izumi-sensei.”

“That’s pleasant to hear. How about you, Tatsuya? Are there are any implications after what I instructed you, yesterday?”

“I’m fine. Matter of fact, I feel better than usual.”

“Good, shall we get to our business then?”

With her notepad and coat, Izumi-sensei went over and took a seat on her favorite egg chair. It made me nostalgic even though I’ve been here last week before going to Chiba. I could feel my heart pounding as I watch Izumi-sensei writing some notes in her notepad.

“Where are the papers, Tatsuya?”

“Papers?”

“... I told you to write me a written report.”

“Oh... I’m sorry, I forgot...”

“Deduction for you.”

“Sorry...”

“I understand, you’re probably confused and have a lot of things going in your mind.”

“...Yes...”

“Don’t worry, I’m here to explain all of it. Your parents agreed with this as well.”

“My parents?”

“Yes, it correlates with why I restricted Naoki and Yuki-sama to meet you until I said so. You’re probably wondering about it since the beginning right?”

“Yes.”

“It may have been harsh for the two of them, but they accepted it wholeheartedly for your well-being. Tatsuya.”

“Um... Okay...?”

On my side, I saw Naoki and Yuki smiling at me wryly. I’ve known about that part from how they treat me these past few days, they would do everything for me. I’m flattered by it, but sometimes they’re taking too far. Nevertheless, I’m thankful for it.

“Okay, let’s get out of that the way first since our time is limited. First, who are the people you remembered?”

“Sayuri-nee, gramps, and the... Red hair Onee-san...”

“The one with blue and red eyes? The one in your nightmares, right?”

“Yes...”

“Apparently, from what you explained to me in the call yesterday, you only remembered Yuki-sama’s sister from a dream. And, you still have no recollection of anything regarding her. Yet, you just know her, right?”

“Yes.”

“That’s quite a progress... We’ve been in a stable state since last year.”

“Stable?”

“Yes, you’re in a stable state. Where you can interact with other people and your symptoms are stabilized.”

“Yes, you said that to me many times.”

“Just a reminder. Now, let’s talk about what’s the real reason I didn’t want to let the two meet you. First, we’ll talk about the early days of your psychological state. The days where you’re practically paranoid about everything, you don’t have any recollections of it, sadly.”

“Those days where I kept my eyes shut all the time?”

“But is it?”

“Huh?”

“Do you remember anything about those days?”

What is sensei saying?

“Yes? My eyes are closed lying in bed.”

“See.”

“Huh?”

“Think, Tatsuya. That's not all of it.”

What? What does she mean by that? Whenever there are people around, I will only close my eyes, except for my family. I don’t get what Izumi-sensei’s trying to say.

“It’s related to one of the incidents that happened. You may not remember, but Naoki and Yuki-sama were always there for you in those days. Standing at the side of your bed, every single day.”

“Huh?”

“I’m going to explain all the things that happened to you, Tatsuya. Ready yourself.”

“Huh?”

“I’m telling you what’s the real reason why you remember nothing related to the two, and why you forgot all the memories about what happened to you—The incident.”

A turmoil feeling started dwelling inside my chest. Why is this happening? Isn’t this the one I’m searching for? The answer that I’ve been seeking all this time. But why I’m feeling nervous and scared? I feel like someone was suffocating me.

Why?

“Remember, Tatsuya. No matter how great a psychiatrist is if the person is not willing to help themselves get better. Then it’s all useless. Now, I’m going to ask you once again. Are you sure about this? There may be some side effects, that even I wouldn’t even be able to predict.”

I shifted my eyes to my side and saw Naoki and Yuki’s worrying faces. Just seeing them, my decision is absolute. I will do everything I can for my memories to come back. No matter how risky it is, I need to resolute myself for the better.

“Yes,” I answered firmly.
