"I will talk to you privately later." Rowan spouted.
"AND?! You came here with the boy?!" Iden shouted.
"That is who I need to talk to you about."
Viaan stood behind Rowan nervously looking in at the man. He gets up to wash his face at the small basin with a mirror attached.
"He is a bloodsucker! How dare you bring him into the house! Shoo! Shoo beast!"
Mr. Iden took a nearby broom smashing into the kid's face as though expelling a fly. Rowan became angered instantly thinking about Declan and his guilt bursting the wood of the brush with his bare hands.
"Stop this! If anything we need them taught!" Rowan shouted.
"If we teach them then they will rebel and kill us!" Iden shouted.
"We are being surrounded slowly by goblins and you think this is a revenge game?!" Rowan responded by yelling.
"They are killers, but we need them to maximize our funds!"
"Then I will train him personally! Declan is not functional thanks to your dumb ass!" Rowan shrieked.
"When the hell did you start caring about, Declan?"
Rowan was caught off guard by the accusation. He had no idea he would be the person to bring that up again. What could that possibly mean that he finally started to care he thought?
"I don't, but the things he handles on a daily basis for a drop of blood!"
He humbly congratulated himself inside his mind. He was a quick thinker and one that knew things he spouted not proper could be held against him.
"You are right…" Iden mumbled.
"Why did you beat him so hard?" Rowan asked.
"I-I can't…help it!" Iden paused.
Declan wasn't even whipped. He was taken to the office and beaten and smashed with bare hands till blood lined the carpets and the hardwood floors sank into the grain. He didn't run nor attempt to flee. He allowed under his fingernails to be laced with chunks of skin.
His body lay in a heap in front of the obese man. He merely wiped the crimson red off his face and resumed his day. A bucket of water used to dowse Declan awake, but he couldn't be budged an inch being dropped off in his shack.
"If anything…Declan deserves to get revenge." Rowan explained.
"Rowan…"
"I am taking the kid and doing the paperwork…I don't care."
"Fine!" Iden shouted.
Rowan ignored Iden walking out of the room. He didn't care much other than his own selfish whims with the situation.
"I said FINE!" Iden shrieked.
"What do you mean when you even say that?"
"I mean fine and if Declan ever comes out of it…" Iden groaned.
"Hmm?"
"I owe him…" Iden admitted.
Rowan only smiled making his way out. He shoved Viaan toward the horse making sure he got on the saddle. Feelings that he hadn't had since the beginning suddenly began to claw themselves out from the grave of his mind.
Viaan's appearance felt like an unusual awakening to him. He pushed everyone since the time he came and now he is taking place of Declan.
"Kid, where did you come from?" He asked.
He didn't answer at first. The sky was now blackened now the sunset no longer existed only darkness. Viaan's eyes reflected against the candle-lit pathway that was not there earlier once again setting the boy on edge.
"Somewhere else…"
"Are you from Iateotha? Vistreonon? Faehaxath?"
"I don't know any of those places," Viaan replied.
"Are you from the outer kingdoms?!"

Rowan became even more confused. Where could he be from? So many thoughts and no explanations. If he was to riddle them all off would he get an answer?
"Outer kingdoms?" Viaan inquired.
"I heard before your clothing was quite odd…"
"I am not from here, but it doesn't matter," Viaan said.
"I see…"
Slow trots of the horse's hooves made Viaan feel tired. Rowan was being extra careful on his ride back to the house.
The abundant sounds of crickets and croaks of frogs guided them. A high-pitched nasally shriek could be heard echoing in the forest.
"Viaan…do…not…speak…"
Rowan whispered as low as he could. He was scared out of his mind thinking how or why he would be so brave to even come down here for anything at all. He felt like Iden shouldn't be alone, but the man most likely thought something else.
The ride seemingly felt like forever along the trail. Nothing he imagined could be worse than how he felt waiting to make it inside the property.
Low growls could be heard in the distance. Viaan became stunned nearly gasping out in place.
"Do…not!" Rowan scolded.
Viaan started to breathe heavily along the track. Petrified by the experience he didn't know what else he could do other than hope the situation goes away and they lose interest.
"Stop…the…horse…" Viaan whispered.
"Nonsense…."
Viaan hopped off smashing his footing into some branches at the bottom. He became frozen to the spot. Rowan slowly got off to try to grab Viaan quickly only to look a pair of golden eyes in the face.
"So this is the boy."
The green-faced goblin had large ears that sprung out to his sides. Viaan seemed to be in an unshakable trance staring ahead.
"Who are you?" Rowan asked.
"Oh, the slave owner."
His sharp teeth distracted Rowan for a second before returning his sight to the creature smiling his shark teeth up at him.
"Have you been watching us?" Rowan questioned.
"Well, you could say that…"
The mountain of eyes behind followed Rowan. He couldn't figure out why of all times they were calm and cool-headed when they had last killed.
"What is wrong with him?" Rowan inquired.
"I heard you earlier ask him where is he from? Did you not?"
"I-I did…"
"He could be your savior or your death this one."
"But he is a boy is he not?" Rowan stated.
"You know what. I am just going to go for now."
"You aren't going to kill me?!" Rowan shouted.
"No…"
No more was said as he signaled back into the fauna of the night and vanished. Viaan gasped out loudly coming back to his senses. Rowan shook Viaan who only gawked at him in surprise at it all.
"Viaan…"
"What happened?" He asked.
"I will explain later."
