"Good morning, Lady Nava." A voice cried out.
The door screeched as the hinges groaned and creaked, and the tall gentleman with an unfocused stare combed through his messy brown hair giving a half-smile baring his fangs at the well-dressed Nava.
"Declan, you came."
She spun in her new outfit, rose pink blazer, golden buttons going down, and white skirt. She stuck her legs out at Declan showcasing her long slender legs in gray knee-high boots, he was nearly reddened by the sight of her excitement.
"Lady Nava, you aren't an adventurer though!" Declan argued.
"It used to be the three of us…" Nava mumbled.
"I am no longer human, Lady Nava," Declan argued.
"Stop calling me lady, please! We always end up in this same argument!" She shouted.
"I knew it was a mistake to come here."
Declan turned around going back to exit when a man dressed in a loose white tunic over his black brais, the man pushed Declan back into the room knocking him off-kilter, balancing on one foot he grabbed a hold of the red-headed man's shoulder.
Infuriated by the simple act of regaining composure he slapped Declan in the face, he tilted to the side collapsing to the ground. The fiery-haired man caressed his bruised knuckles after such a motion, Declan was on the dirty kitchen floor about to get up when his leathered boot thrust him down further smashing left and right leaving a muddied print from the soles of his worn footwear.
"Don't you dare touch me again you filthy fang…" He threatened.
"Stop picking on Declan!" Nava shouted.
He faced Nava only to examine the clothing she was wearing, she frowned as she pushed her gloved hand down over her dress avoiding his stare. It felt as though he was looking straight past her attire with a mischievous grin on his lips.
"Where do you think you are going?" He asked.
"None of your business…" Nava mumbled.
Averting his gaze Declan silently propelled himself up from the ground, he rose to his feet to grab the door handle.
"Good day, Lady Nava…" Declan whispered.
"Declan…"
"One day soon I will stake your ass!" He cried in anger.
He trudged back outside softly closing the door behind him, a soft sigh is all he could mutter to himself. Tiny footsteps have him on edge, he turned toward the house to find Nava with her hands pressed against her chest.
"You didn't have to leave just because Rowan came!" She spouted.
"I only came because you asked, but I don't want Mr. Iden mad at me again."
"I had already told him earlier, why can't we just leave?" She begged.
An anguished blood-curling scream could be heard in the distance followed by a shriek gradually turning into a sob echoed high into the reaches of the air dissipating, Rowan rushed out.
"Nava, where is River?" Rowan shouted.
"I think he went out with Iden horseback riding I think." She answered.
Declan had squatted down several seconds before assessing, leaping to all fours he charged toward the forest only to be stopped by a crowd. A flaxen-colored horse toppled to the thicket below, forcing his way through he made an inaudible gasp.
The body of a man dressed in a fine sky blue suit slumped over on the ground had been decapitated cleanly off his shoulders, his head had rolled to the side with an expression of shock. A young boy garbed in fine green silk was in hysterics wailing.
"Move back! Move, I said move!" Rowan hollered.
Mr. Iden wobbled and tottered gradually behind half-robed Rowan, he shook the child in an attempt to calm him and bring him back to his senses.
"G-Goblins!" He cried out.
"Impossible, I slaughtered the nearby dungeon recently…" Rowan whispered.
"If I hadn't dunked the thing would have taken me too!" He argued.
"Take River inside this instant!" Mr. Iden shouted.
Nava snuck in to gather River from the ground into her arms, Iden shot a glance up at her angrily as he tugged on her skirt.
"And may I ask Lady Nava, why are you dressed this way?"
"I want to join a party…" She whispered.
Twirling a strand of hair he steadily grasped thrusting her inwards, she let out a whimper of pain the harder he pulled and yanked her down.
"You are to get changed and we will never speak of this again, Nava!" He scolded.
Declan had observed for several more seconds before leaving the scene, Gio quickly pulled on their room attendant with worry in his eyes.
"It's Viaan, we need help!" Gio sobbed.
They dashed back to the fields to find Viaan on the ground, his body trembling on his hands and knees stuck in a trance. His basket tilted to the side, not a word, not even a simple greeting.
"Viaan?" Declan yelled.
"We tried everything, he is going to get us into trouble!" Asher argued.

Swiftly Declan hauled Viaan to his feet, he dunked down lifting the boy around his shoulders. He was light enough that he could be carried, the rest say nothing as he left.
"Long time no see, Declan." Linetta smiled.
"Shut up please…"
He plopped the unconscious Viaan on the threadbare bed, examing the boy's knuckles and face to find severe swelling. Linetta hovered around them prying herself into the sickly child's affairs as though she belonged there.
"Can you feel it, Declan?" She spouted.
"Hmmm…"
"Change Delcan, change is coming here." Linetta grinned.
"Nothing will ever change…don't say foolish things."
She threw her hands up in the air dangling them above. She gazed at the flimsy ceiling before facing Declan again with a proud smirk.
"The princess wants to travel, the eldest son is dead…"
Linette distorts her features merely moving her jaw to the side showcasing her pearly whites. She leaned her head down creating the illusion of another chin in her otherwise perfect appearance.
"Seriously, you are just imagining things." Declan chided.
"Then what decapitated him, Declan?"
He paused to gaze into Linetta's eyes, he was there when Nava asked Rowan where he had been. He mentioned how he had just been back from a goblin killing mission yet River described how the eldest had been killed by what he swore was a Goblin.
Shaking his head side-to-side he didn't want to think about it, they were horrible little creatures who hobbled on all fours to get around. Lifeless sunken beady black eyes their textured green skin that felt like reptiles when brushed up against.
But was more plastic than a vampire, real vampires would rip their throats out. We were made to spend less on food, we were tools that are expandable Declan thought.
"If the Goblins are…will you become the hero again?" She asked.
"Never mention that again!"
His sharpened claws were fresh against her neck, his eyes glimmered red. Flashbacks of fights when he was human, endless naked flesh, slender fingers, and beautiful faces leaned in to kiss tender lips.
Blood, blades in a small stone ring decorated with etchings of curses and praises. Declan was a cherished pet since the beginning of his life, he always thought it was for glory, to help people in the end nothing.
The gentle feel of a soft hand brought him back to reality and suddenly his mind was whole again.
"Declan…you will be okay I promise, but you might need to become him…"
"Linetta…"
Both had forgotten that Viaan was in the same room with them, Declan's heart was so haunted he nearly dismissed his duties.
"If this is true then I must take charge." He stated.
His hands drop to his side, and the air felt charged. Declan knew she was right, she was preparing for the inevitable in advance.
"If something happens, Delcan."
"Yes?"
"There is a real vampire I want you to meet if anyone survives." She noted.
"A real vampire?"
"His name is Mullo, I will explain later." She winked.
"Mullo?"
She had already left before he could question more, he turned his attention back to Viaan his eyes were slowly opening.
"Viaan, are you okay now?" Declan questioned.
"Where am I?"
"Back in the hut, Viaan you need more self-control." He scolded.
"I see…I am sorry, Declan."
"We will work on it, but also because I know your body is finally catching up with you."
Viaan attempted to sit up, moving one foot up. He slipped knocking into the bed itself, he could feel his ears ring. He noticed how Declan was acting strange and motionless.
"I should be asking if you are okay."
Declan only laughed, a deep self-realization ate at him. He pushed his palm into Viaan's head to force him back down on the already rickety bed.
"You need to rest, Viaan good night."
He strolled over to the bed beside Viaan, he gently settled to not break the bed. Viaan turned to gawk at Declan dozing off, he still wasn't feeling well enough to chat.
