It was a full moon night, the sky was with few clouds, and the moonlight illuminated the streets along with some torches attached to the city walls, the houses were closed, and in some nearby trees, there were owls, indicating that the time was late of the night. The place was silent until footsteps were heard, sounds of boots approached, and revealed two men walking, all covered in black blankets.
The smallest was an adult man with short black hair. He had brown eyes and behind him was a bodyguard. A foot taller than him, with a broad body and a shaved head, and a huge scar on his right eye that had almost blinded him, they were walking around looking down the alleys as if looking for something.
"Boss, are you sure you're going to trust a rookie for this?" The one with the shaved head questioned, and the man in front of him answered. "You know he's not some Skol rookie. He just didn't take your eye away because the problem with us wasn't personal." Apprehensive, the shaved head lowered his face and clenched his fists, passing through a few more alleys. The two seemed a little lost and stopped in front of one.
"What's his problem? Why is a brat that age working with this? Boss, leave this task to me. You know I could finish off the red mage. That insect can sell us just like he sold his old one-" the shaven-headed man was going to continue his speech until they both felt a chill down their spines, and along with a wind, a voice came from the alley.
It was calm and jovial and showed a tone of arrogance. "Shut up your dog, Paul, otherwise he'll lose his tongue." The two looked at the alley where there was a boy with a sharp silver dagger in his hand and with it he played turning in his palm and between his fingers, he wore simple clothes but a black suit along with leather gloves and a hood that covered his face, being possible to see another dagger in his waist, he seemed to have appeared there, before his presence was not in that alley, at least not perceptible to the two.
The bald man took a step forward towards the boy in the alley, his face contorted in anger showing his irritation, and in his thick voice, he spoke. "How is it? Speak closer." His voice was loud enough to disturb what was there, and seeing that, the boy swung his dagger once more. "Think about your next action. If you're not going to die before your body hits the ground, am I being clear?".
The boy spoke, facing his opponent, showing a more reddish tone in his eyes, and a vein showing anger appeared on the bald man's forehead. However, before he could move forward, a hand prevented him. It was Paul. Seeing that his contractor had arrived, he moved away, Skol taking his hand to the bodyguard's head, and while lowering his head and the bald man's, he spoke.
"Sorry for the inconvenience Cruz. He was just rambling... Let's please ignore this and talk business, and I have the advance amount for your service. I don't want to lose a man or his contact. I ask you to ignore it, and it won't be free..." The black-haired man seemed to speak with an apprehensive tone, and the bald man, even irritated, lowered his head. Seeing that, the boy stared at the bald man who, even from the lower position, seemed to face him back.
After a few seconds of silence, the boy crossed his arms and leaned his back against the wall. "Where is the money?". Paul listened and from his cloak took a leather bag, showing the boy who was in the alley as if he was showing food to a hunting dog, the boy stared and his hands uncrossed, and his hand went to the light, showing his palm, and understanding the signal.
Paul threw the bag that was received by the contractor, who opened the bag and, seeing jewels and precious stones inside, closed it then, and kept it somewhere in his black cloak. He turned his back and began to walk, stopping a few steps later and then speaking. "He has someone from Jenova protecting him. After the mission, I will tell you how much this extra effort will cost." The boy spoke, and along with his voice, his presence was distancing himself from the two who raised their heads next, the bald man looked as irritated as before, and he spoke.
"Damn arrogant assassin...". As they said that, the duo heard footsteps approaching, the sound this time was metallic, and turning around, Paul saw a woman with long red hair and blue eyes. She had light armor protecting her chest, arms, and legs, and she carried a white staff on his shoulder and walked toward the two of them. To the contractor and his bodyguard, she emitted a powerful but somehow brilliant presence, and as she approached, she emanated even more of that presence, the two seemed paralyzed, but the woman passed between them, heading towards the alley as if she didn't see them. , and so it continued to walk.
"Let's go.". Paul spoke in an apprehensive tone, and his bodyguard nodded, and so they both walked away from the alley. As she walked, the woman looked back for a few moments and followed the course of the alley. Passing through more streets from a distant roof, the assassin from the alley observed a two-story house, noticed that there were men prowling around it and in it there were some lights on, he saw that a man with spiky blond hair, tall and thin, he was talking to one of the guards entering the residence a short time later with a sharp smile.
Watching that, the assassin recognized the face as that of Andias, one of Jenova's cultists, and after finding one of his targets, the assassin stood up on the roof, pulling his hood down a little further, and lifting his face, revealing one of his eyes with a silver hue, and so, he jumped off the roof heading towards the house.
